Big Red breaking news.

Well can you just answer my questions since you seem to think you know it all.
You like to pick on the little schools from your area but when you are confronted by a real powerhouse you have no answers and that really puts a damper on your ego.
I have read your post where you are always slamming the other area schools and even trying to convince people that Big Red invented football but you are one of the people that give Big Red fans a bad name with your better than thou attitude. -
homefieldsnyds113;416251 wrote:I have never been one to call what people posts stupid. In this case though this statement you just posted was not very well thought out.
I think everyone is entitled to their opinion and thats what makes this country that we live in great.I am just saying that before you put yourself on the same level as another team that you should look at the whole picture and if you want to talk about elite teams then you should be able to compete in all aspects of the program and my point is that we have won 10 state championships and a couple of national titles and not only do we win games and we send all of our students on to the next level for education and even D1 college sports and then some even go on to the next level.
Comparing Iggy and Big Red is like comparing Ohio State and Mount Union,They are both good but they are on different level when it pertains to sports and education. -
FairwoodKingBig Red and Iggy are two very different types of schools. According to the government, Big Red is an inner-city school. We have to accept students that schools like Iggy would reject. It's no wonder that most Iggy students go on to college. They are in a position of only accepting students that are college material.
As far as football is concerned, Iggy is a big Div. I team and Big Red is barely Div. III. Yet we gain enough computer points every year to make the playoffs even if we were Div. I.
For a school our size, we put an extraordinary number of players into college on scholarships. We compare to many Div. I teams in that regard.
Our educational system in Steubenville is the very best. We have all new buildings and state-of-the-art facilities. We draw the very best teachers from all over the valley. Iggy cannot claim to have a better educational system than we do because they simply don't.
I think very highly of Steubenville and of Big Red. That's why I'm moving back in a few weeks from Seattle. I think returning home will be a good move for me. -

OK. Now we can add the "Best Teachers" in the area to the list?
Come on. Do you really believe you have the best teachers, and every other school in the area is "Subpar"? -

Here's the list since Reno came along. As you can see, only four players were transfers into the Big Red program. -

The citizens of Steubenville have never turned down a school levy. We have the best-paid teachers in the area and they have the most job security. -

Pooter I think you are the bees knees and you are also pooterific.LOL Did you see ELs coach at media day @ Harding Stadium?Good things man good things. Homefield I do realize that High school football comes down to matchups.Iggy might win most of those matchups. But collectively BIG RED is capabale of producing magic on the field in Big games of course. Now I don't know or remeber anyone saying Big Red could or would beat IGGY. I do however think it's possible.Thereis no reason to think otherwise.Of course it would have to be advantage Steubenville.By that I mean Big Red will need the twelth man @ home.LOL Seriously though I see no reason not to say Steubenville cohldn't play with IGGY. -
pooterNo, I didn't see it.. I've been catching up on remodeling..

Are you trying to be funny or are you just that desperate by posting a list of people that attended mostly D2 and D3 schools and didn't even finish their 4 years at school or did not play sports while enrolled all 4 years because I think you might have left out some of the people that attended community college also.
I thought you would post a list of people that were recruited by big D1 schools and actually played.
I thought we where talking football but if you want to include all sports then you have just pushed yourself farther down on the list and It would take hours and a seperate thread just to list the students from all sports that have attended D1 college on full scholarship and played and succeeded.
We have more past students currently playing pro sports than you have playing in big time D1 college so you should just give up before you embarrass yourself. -

I do believe that anyone can be beat on a given day and the Red may pull one out but overall I do believe that Iggy wins 8 out of 10 and that is not saying that Big Red is weak or they suck but you are just talking about two different types of programs and that is just a way of life.I think we are better off playing don bosco in steubenville then playing Big Red at your stadium because we hear all kind of stories about that mysterious 12 man lurking around towards the end of the games. You should have been on yappi last year after your game against massillon when socalled Big Red fans started taunting other posters and talking how they could beat Iggy and anyone else that had the guts to play them.
Why is it that more of the Big Red fans can't be more respectful towards other schools and still be very proud and supportive as you and a couple others seem to be? -

Well I don't know and I'm not saying I feel the same way as you do about Big RED posters cause I see most of them at the games.I will say this and this may clear it up a bit.I'm not an ALUMNI of BIG RED,but my wife class of 85 and sonetimes she wants to posts under my name and there is no way in hell I will ever let her cause she will say s some crazy stuff to try to get her point across.I think it's just some serious genuine pride.Big Red ALUM fans are just really crazy about there football team.Sometimes it comes across good sometimes bad.One thing for sure though the fans at football games are always fun an a little unpredictable. There really are so many.ROLLREDROLL -

snyds113One more thing is Iplayed for Wintersville when Big Red and Wintersville were some serious rivalries.Anyway Wintersville is no more in my eyes anyway after the consolidation. My wife took me to some games in 98 I think the only losing season in recent years. They (big red)has some serious traditions that i fell in love with and can't live without now.So from and outsider who used to hate the Red.To say the allure is strong is an understatement.

This is not my list. It was posted by somebody else.
I am hardly what you would call desperate. I just wanted to show what recent Big Red football players have gotten college scholarships, mostly for football. Yes, there are star football players who got scholarships for something else, like Stevie Davis. He got a full ride at Coastal Carolina because he wanted to play baseball at the next level instead of football. CC was ranked in the top ten in the country this past season, and I am sure Stevie had something to do with that. I fully expect him to make the pros. One of the current members of the Philadelphia Phillies was a football player for us, and look where he got.
So what if some of our players end up at Div. II in college? They still get a good free education out of it.
On another subject, I am not knocking your school and I don't like it when you knock ours. Show some class. -
ManO'WarIf you still believe this Homefield character is from Iggy then I have some swamp land to sell you.
Why would anyone from Iggy know that much about Big Red's program?!?! Like who Coach Pierro is??
Come on. -
Bigred1995Him knowing who Pierro is made me wonder too, but his lack in basic reading comprehension, lousy logic, and just his general lack of class are the other reasons why I don't think he graduated from Iggy!

CamomanHey Big Red Guys,
What is the story on the light Poles?
When is inspection on them?
If they need replaced, do you think this will disrupt Friday nights? -

These lights are fairly new. They are not the same light posts my father installed in 1930.
We have been playing night games for 80 years. We're not going to stop now. -
ManO'WarThey are going to be inspected asap. I'm sure they will be replaced if neccesary, or maybe the weld reinforced.
