Big Red breaking news.

  • FairwoodKing
When Reno decides to retire in a few years, one of his assistants will take over. Big Red won't miss a beat. Big Red went undefeated and made the playoffs before Reno took over. We can do it again after he leaves.

    homefield,
I know a little about Iggy football....but I know more about big red football. In 82' Bob Hedmond had the first undefeated season since 35' and he and his staff got us back into the playoffs. Reno added to that tradition that will always be WINNING big red football. Don't you see that the past coaches and staff have set the bar high and it will never fall.

Look at the coaches that we have just in our system. Antony Pierro, JoJo Saccoccia, Mike Haney, Jason Kernahan, Rick Camiletti, Gus DiMarzio, Bob Lamantia, Joe Pierro, Dan Filtz, Justin Banks, Mike Blackburn, Ryan Slabaugh and Steve Herring. Look at the ones that came from our system like Todd Filtz @ Maple Heights for example.

You just don't forget HOW to win...Besides Reno won't let them, the staff won't let them, the administration won't let them, the big red nation won't let it happen, the parents won't let them...and most of all the players won't let it happen. This program will be fine. Reno will insure that a staff will be in place that will add to the tradition of big red football.

By the way when Coach Kyle is gone I guess Iggy will start going down hill? No and for the same reasons as I stated above.

Besides we are defenders of the Crimson & Black. We won't let anyone talk sh*t about big red football. Maybe we do come off as arrogant. But I'd rather have that said about us, then do like the Iggy fans are doing and let all those Don Bosco Prep fans talk sh*t about Iggy and have no one force them off an Ohio message board.

Reno is still relatively young. He could coach for another 10+ years if he wants to.

He's 60 so he's not that young. But he said in an interview last year that he will continue to coach as long as anyone wants him to be there.

Talk is cheap and it only means something after you back it up but I do think that everyone is entitled to their opinion on a message board and not have to be forced off but Don Bosco is a very good team and we will just have to see how things play out.Oh by the way how many games did Morgantown win last year since you have scheduled them to play on the same stage as the big boys of Iggy and Bosco.

You should hope he decides to stay for that long because you won't replace his knowledge of the game or the knowledge of how to work the system as he can.

I just think it will be hard to replace him regardless of who he has on his staff right now.Pierro would be your best hope but who knows until that time comes.

You don't know what you're talking about. First we scheduled Warren Harding for game 5. They dropped us because they joined a league. We scheduled Morgantown on the road as a last-minute replacement. Then a promoter came along and wanted to bring the Iggy-Bosco game to Steubenville. We had to negotiate with M-town to get them to play their game at Harding Stadium.

Morgantown should not even be mentioned in the same breathe as Iggy or Bosco let alone be playing on the same field before the real teams play.Yes before you even start with Big Red is a real team I think you should play with the big boys before you start running your mouth about how great you are.Why didn't Big Red go find a powerhouse school to play during this little rally that you are hosting.

Yes, they will...at least to some extent. So will Steubenville. No programs ever lose coaches of that stature and not have at least a down period.

Your posts started out like you had some Intelliigence, then you come up with that old crap " why don't you schedule a powerhouse etc. etc."
We are a low division 3 which basically means we might have some problems with depth against the larger teams. We have enough larger school games with Inkster, McKeesport, and Massillon this season.
Also, we had Morgantown on our schedule and would have had to get out of the contract with them in order to play another team.
Third, It's great that people in the valley get to see 2 premier teams play here regardless of who the other tems are.

Nope, you are just another jealous, small minded basher with no new insight to offer.
    Cheers.

I read all the crap that some of the Big Red fans have posted on here and Yappi without them having any knowledge of what they are talking about.Last year many of your fans posted on the other huddle site that Big Red could beat Iggy and was the #1 team in the state because you beat massillon. When you lost to Inkster then the talk was that no other team in the state could beat them but they had already lost to an Ohio team but you should be ok this year since they lost alot of their star players.

The comment about getting to see 2 premier teams play regardless of who they are make you a one of the few in your area that think that way because most people down your way would believe that the only premier team in the state is Big Red.

Now as for being jealous about Steubenville,You must be on drugs to think that I would be jealous of your tiny little town.I know you don't think I am jealous of your football team because until you travel up here to play the big boys you are nothing special to me.

Yea, like impressing you is our number one priority! You may think things differently when you get to High School.
    Keep up the charm.
    Cheers.

Homefield most likely isn't an Ignatius fan anyways, so I advise the Big Red fans to ignore him/her.

I will probably get banned once again for posting this, but it IS warranted...

Harding leaving the BMAC is a DESPERATE attempt to get kids into Harding. We ALL know how it works. They have to transfer in 8th grade to be eligible. What happened with Big Red and IC playing 8th grade this past year? Not only did we beat you, but we both had cancellations during the SAME week and we contacted Big Red to see if they wanted to play again... The answer was NO. How many times has our 7th and 8th grade beat you then you turn around with a team full of skilled position players and laugh at us? It should honestly be all of us that are laughing because without them you are mediocre... Your just the same as the "sub par" teams in the area that beat you. So does a 7th or 8th grader make the decision to transfer to Big Red after they see they are going to play Massillon???? I was 13 once... I remember becoming a teenager, somehow playing massillon wasn't even a thought? Funny how things all the sudden become first priority, isn't it? Especially at age 13...

Those times that we beat you through the 7th and 8th grade years was great... Kids against kids. Pure football. But then they become freshmen... "open enrollment" all the sudden lured in HOW MANY kids? They lost to lowly IC?!?! I though we were crap? We are scum, we are sub-par, we were not worth picking us up for a game during a week we were BOTH free to schedule who we wish because it would REALLY look bad for Big Red to get beat by IC twice in one season... "Open enrollement" might not attract the players Big Red needs.

Here is a thought... Steubenville has the best of EVERYTHING in this area. Hands down, can't despute it because their fans declair it... Prove it... 3 years is ALL I ask. I'm sure Big Red could spare hat with their immaculate record. Many B8 teams could use an opponet, so actively seek them, get rid of your open enrollment touchdowns, and lets see how you do... Make me eat my words...

    You're reaching.

Middle school, reserve, and JV results mean nothing when it comes to the same kids in varsity games. Big Red has lost games to local teams from the middle school to JV level and then those same kids would demolish those same kids in their varsity games. Most of the transfers played in at least one of those games for Big Red.

Big Red was winning BEFORE open enrollment. Their record against local schools prior to open enrollment (including Wintersville) speaks for itself.

Even if Big Red wanted to schedule Buckeye 8 teams, what makes you think anything will change from what normally happens? Two blowouts and then dropped.

I will agree with SOS on the when I was 13 point. But that is it though. Many things change from jr high to high school when it comes to football and open enrollment has little to do. Homefield why are you pickin on lonely ole div.3 BIG RED?Afterall your mouthing to the same fans who will be rooting for your team on the 25th.BIG RED fans love the underdog. All this time until your avatar i thought you were from the ohio valley.Bur being of Iggy ALUM i would of expected better.

Exactly. The lower grades have always been about time spent finding out what positions players are best suited for. We get a lot of imput from the pee wee leagues now, but there still is coaching and moving kids around to find their best positions and getting some of these kids playing time to keep them interested in football no matter what the score is.
Some of you may remember the old Lion's Club football previews at Harding Stadium where each game was a quarter long. I believe there were usually 8 teams involved. Bob Kettlewell's Wintersville teams were matched up against Big Red in those years. Big Red handily won all of those matchups and talk of Wintersville playing Big Red died out every year.
My point being, after all those years, we still get excuses why Wintersville can't win against Steubenville Big Red; and ther was no open enrollment back then. Could hard work and effort be involved here?
Nah, that would be too easy of an explanation. Crying, sucking thumbs and gnashing of teeth is all that is left.
    Cheers.
