If you dont like it then become a board member and lobby to end playing in all sports. Untill then quit crying about it and just get better! -
ManO'WarThe IC people are just upset that this kid from Harrison drove right past their school to get to Big Red. If he would have went to IC we would be hearing how he wanted their great education, and how their program is now turning the corner and attracting players.

Easiest way for Big Red to look past an issue... Call everyone liars. I know what the truth it, I have seen the "evidence" with my OWN eyes. I know its real, you know its real, but the issue is not me or you knowing whats real... The people that need to act on it won't and we also both know why that will never happen. Call me a liar all you want, not hurting my feelings.war_admiral wrote: SoS,
Just a bit uneasy...Name the owner of the property then...that's what I thought. Just keep hiding behind your lie's.
How to Detect lies:
• A guilty person gets defensive. An innocent person will often go on the offensive.
• A liar will use your words to make answer a question. When asked, “Did you eat the last cookie?” The liar answers, “No, I did not eat the last cookie.”
• Liars sometimes avoid "lying" by not making direct statements. They imply answers instead of denying something directly.
• The guilty person may speak more than natural, adding unnecessary details to convince you... they are not comfortable with silence or pauses in the conversation.
• Using humor or sarcasm to avoid a subject. -

Its not about beating them in football, its about whats right and whats not.GoChiefs wrote: So your motto is...if you can't beat 'em..drop 'em? Nice. -

What's not right about it? They got a player from open enrollment. They aren't the only schools that do that. Big deal. Heck, my alma mater offers open enrollment!sonofsam wrote: Its not about beating them in football, its about whats right and whats not. -
ManO'War"Right" according to you??? Sorry, but you don't make the rules.
And as far as your claims...how stupid would a coach, who is also a teacher, be to pay someone elses rent??? It not like they make a lot of money to begin with, so you expect people to believe that they are going to pay all of their supplimental coaching contract money (which is a couple thousand for the whole season) to pay someone elses rent so that their kid can come play football??? -
Hip Hop/LogicbombArguing with Big Red fans ='s you always being wrong, I learned this lesson years ago. I will never take anything away from how hard the "kids" work and their discipline "ON" the field but, if we could truly have an intelligent conversation about the truth of what transpires during the off-season and how the athletes are handled, well then thats another story.....

Come on ManO'War Indian Creek owns us in Volleyball, Girls Basketball, the last two years, and they beat Big Red in Softball this year. You have to admit it they beat us in Girls Sports, I wonder if they'ld beat us in Powder Puff Football.ManO'War wrote: Big Red ten run ruled IC last year in the baseball tourny, beat them head to head in bball the last time they played, with a depleted team, and beat IC in wrestling, so I don't think you "own" anyone. You just said the other day that you don't follow any sport besides football, but now you act like ur an expert on every sport. -
d.woods50fan.I just cant wait til either week 11,12, or 13 When Big Red Plays Creek (yes SOS told me creek will be there ... ya i laughed also)! The new lineman from HC looks at the team and says, "we got a big playoff game this week against IC". The rest of the team with chuckles on faces looks at him and says "No worries man this is just a GLORIFIED scrimmage". .......... DEFWU

Hmmm....I think you have your story turned around. The conversation you're refering to happened last year in week 10 in the Big Red locker room when Inkster came to town. Inkster didn't get the memo on the "GLORIFIED Scrimmage".d.woods50fan. wrote: I just cant wait til either week 11,12, or 13 When Big Red Plays Creek (yes SOS told me creek will be there ... ya i laughed also)! ManO'WarInkster was week 9, and I don't remember anyone taking them lightly...in fact last year at this time I was telling everyone it would be our toughest game.
It is pretty bad though when the local yocals have to hang their hat on a team from Michigan. -

What gives you the idea I'm from the Steubenville area. Big Red isn't liked all over the state because of their obnoxious fans. They prove it on Ohio Chatter quite often.ManO'War wrote: Inkster was week 9, and I don't remember anyone taking them lightly...in fact last year at this time I was telling everyone it would be our toughest game.

ManO'WarI haven't found that true at all. Whenever I am out of the Ohio Valey Big Red is talked about with much admiration and respect. I have llived in Ytown, work in Pittsburgh, and traveled all around Ohio to watch different games. I have even had people in Florida, when I lived there, stop me and talk about Big Red Football when I had a tshirt on. But the closer you get to Steubenville, the more the hate intensifies.
-
bloozebrotherbeing from shadyside i've noticed the same senerio. being in the playoffs the last ten years it seems the more we win the bigger the "haters" list grows. also, the harder it becomes to schedule local teams. although we dont have quite the same size following big red does, pretty much know the feelin mr. war is talking about.

The people from out of state don't know the local details. People in Florida have no idea what players left Weirton, Toronto, Creek, Edison, Harrison, Buckeye, etc...ManO'War wrote: I haven't found that true at all. I can explain the hate. It is because they have been using talent from other areas to win. I know... I know... open enrollment. But, the fact of the matter is Big Red is not exclusively Steubenville. If it were, many would have more respect. But, the local schools, as well as those across the river, have been gutted of players. It hits the schools that have been grooming these kids in hunior high, then lost these kids, below the belt. -

Check the rosters of all the "POWER" teams in OHIO (heck nationwide) ... NONE of them are "EXCLUSIVE" !!!! So if your team is not a "POWER" then you hate.WooHaa! wrote:

Once again, what about the kids we lose?? That fact seems to be forgotten very quickly by some.WooHaa! wrote:

Hell, just last year we lost our starting all state tailback, but we just wished him and his new school well, and went on with business. You don't see Big Red fans crying the blues because some kid and his parents decided to go somewhere else. Naturally I hope we keep every player that starts in Harding, but that is not realistic.
Instead of worrying about Big Red, maybe these other schools should concentrate on making their program attractive enough to make kids want to play there.
