    So you own horses?
That's a bit of a role reversal from Friday night when the horses owned you guys! ;)

Funny, funny. Our horses are under hoods.

Fair enough. Now that that's out of the way I would like to wish the Cardinals good luck this week. I have seen them play and they are getting better every week. It doesn't look good for Poland, Steubenville, Dover, or anyone else for that matter.

Read 'em and remember 'em fellas. The High School football forums over here are for just that..football. We don't want the threads cluttered with garbage like the other site. It will not be tolerated over here. Clean it up. Thank you.

God, this annoying "bro" is still hanging around making predictions.....I thought once his team got buried he'd disappear.

GoChiefs.....just out of curiosity, will those rules be inforced or will moderators just tell huddlers to clean it up. I remember reading the rules and seeing 1st time = warning, 2nd time = ban for a day, 3rd time = ban for a week. I assume that was your warning to SQ Crazies? I hope these rules will be stringently administered to prevent people like that from cursing all over the huddle......It looks bad.
  • GoChiefs
That was everyone's first warning. Not just SQ Crazies..he wasn't the only one's posts I had to clean up. The forum rules will be enforced. These forums aren't going to turn into a bunch of bickering like the others. We are adults here. Act like it. It's football..it's a game. Use your head when you post.

So, back on topic to Salem football.....oh wait!

Anyways, anyone wanna talk about this game or just make it a pissing contest?

This year's team reminds me of a quote by Doylestown Chippewa coach Brian Hessey in 1999 after Mooney handed them a 61-0 loss in the regional semis:

"I had a bad feeling just from watching the films," Hessey said. "Usually you can at least find something on tape to exploit, but I couldn't find any weaknesses."

    Good luck Mr. Brungard.

Mr. Brungard has won 2 National Championships as YSU's starting QB under Jim Tressell. I'm sure he will have some tricks up his sleeve in this one :)

Thanks Gocheifs for stepping in, it was getting a bit out of hand. We have a great new site to post on and let's not ruin it. Let's keep the posts related to the topic, Mooney vs Poland.

Bill's Place should be nice and crowded for a little pre-game beverage or two. Probably need to get their early!

If he has to resort to tricks then the battle is half over for Mooney. Nothing like telling your kids that I don't think we can line up and beat these guys but we'll trick them and maybe we'll get lucky. And I'm sure Brungard didn't learn any trick plays from Jim Tressel. He is so conservative he makes Ronald Reagan look like a Kennedy.

Dean Wormer.....Tricks up his sleeve wasn't intended to mean trick plays my friend. I meant that Coach Brungard knows a thing or two about winning football games judging by his resume and body of work as a player under Tressel. I'm sure he and his fellow coaches will have a solid game plan. But if you want to discuss trick plays, i'm all for it :) Poland already has gone to the well once for trick plays and it worked brilliantly against ASVSM. To be honest with you, a team as good as Mooney, the only way to beat them might be to catch them off guard with an occassional trick play. They play so aggressively that Poland may be able to catch them out of position, over-pursuing, or missing a coverage assignment regarding Poland's bag of tricks. Obviously the same strategy worked for Boise State a few years ago when they took down a superior Oklahoma team. If Brungard can sell his players on the game plan and the fact that they can execute those plays successfully (like Boise did), then the battle is not half over. Whatever it takes to win will be done. Unfortunately, it takes no rocket scientist to figure out that Poland can not line up with Mooney and beat them head-to-head. Mooney is bigger, stronger, and faster. But sometimes the game of football relies more on execution. If the Dogs can execute those plays then i'm fully supportive of them. I don't know about you, but sometimes i'd rather be lucky than good haha.
  • SQ_Crazies
Sorry guys, I didn't want it to go off topic.

Good luck to both, hope everyone stays healthy. I still like Mooney big.
  • futbol4ever
Trick plays also worked for Coldwater.
  • Mooney44Cards
Mooney's all-state QB being injured and out of the game also worked for Coldwater. Twice.
  • SQ_Crazies
Yeah why does everyone seem to forget that one GIANT fact. You can't beat anyone in week 15 without your All-State QB--and one of those times we're talking about a kid that was the best player in the state, period.

Still would love to hear a good reason McCarthy didn't win Mr. Ohio.

2005 Coldwater would have beat Mooney regardless of who played!
the second time may have been a different story!
    NO football team is unbeatable!
If Mooney doesn't run the table this year what will be the excuse?
  • SQ_Crazies
The second time MAY have been a different story? Danny McCarthy was one of the best high school players I've ever seen. It made them a WAY different team and when you're playing in week 15 you're clearly playing another great team--you can't afford to be short handed in the state title game.

And you're disrespecting Johnson if you say Coldwater would have beat them in 05 no matter what. I know you love your boy Macon--Johnson was Macon but better in every way. I'm not saying they WOULD have beat Coldwater, but it certainly would have been a hell of a different game.

Mooney still had Coldwater right where they wanted them.....They controlled that game with the players they had on the field..... Let's not forget that you could have taken any one of those players and that team would've been the most stacked team in Ohio.....so they definately COULD have beaten the Cavs.....

The Cavs took that game from Mooney in the fourth quarter....

    More BS from SQ.....
  • SQ_Crazies
Yeah, they did have them right where they wanted them. If McCarthy would have played Mooney would have won that game by 2 scores. At least. You think Coldwater was anywhere near the best team they played that year? I remember watching them dismantle Gateway in week 2 and everyone at Fawcett knew that was the best team in Ohio--but like I said, hard to win a game that big without your best player.
  • Strapping Young Lad
    Guess we'll never know....
  • SQ_Crazies
LMAO, more BS from me...because an injured All-State QB in the state title game is BS.
  • bulldog8
SQ Crazies.....you seem much more relaxed this evening than earlier today haha I don't think your argumentation is BS. You brought up a good point.
