Cardinal Mooney def. Poland 24-7

zhon44622GOOD LUCK POLAND!!!
-
Cmhs74Hopefully Friday night the game will be played on the field by two outstanding football teams and both teams will respect each other. As for the fans I hope the respect the opponent and it's fans also. Go CARDS.
-
PSHSfanWill there be extra security at the game? I havent been to Fitch in awhile, are the two sides split where you have to go to one side or the other or can fans walk between the two side and line up around the field?
It may have been several years since any incidents have taken place and the kids in high school now weren't there during the last set of scuffles. That being said, there has been tension for many years. I was in high school in the late 80's early 90's and there were issues back then too.
Id be interested to know if anyone on here is still in high school at Mooney or Poland and if there is any current tension or if now its just stories left on the huddles from former students. -
bulldog8Ytown....irregardless of how long ago it was, students don't forget these things. I'm certain that the players will take care of their business in a respectful fashion and i'm sure the adult fans will as well, but what about the student sections? Personally, I'm a bit worried of what might potentially escalate after the game in the parking lot or elsewhere when students start jarring at each other. And for you to say you have absolutely no worries about potential incidents indicates that you are oblivious to reality. It could happen! And the reason there hasn't been any trouble between Mooney and Poland since that incident 4 years ago is because the athletic directors did a fabulous job of nipping the situation in the butt and preventing these schools from playing in regular season matchups.....The lack of matchups has minimized almost all confrontation between these schools aside from the occassional playoff pairings. This was in no way intended to blame anyone for the incident. You have been criticizing my facts all along, which is fine. The intention of my post was not to investigate who's fault it was 4 years ago. My intention was to provide some substance behind the reason why Poland and Mooney have not been on each other's schedules the last 4 years. If you don't think it's true then go ask Poland's AD. I'll bet Poland fans know him better than you do and understand his reasoning. Good luck to your Mooney Cardinals this Friday. We can argue all we want about this incident, but I have a feeling we won't be the ones who need to worry come Friday night. Let's hope our respective students sections behave as we would expect them too. I'm dropping this discussion from this point forward so that we can get back to talking about the game instead of past incidents, scheduling, and the decisions of athletic directors.
I'm going to go out on a very thin limb and say that the Dogs give Mooney all they can handle in this one and pull off the upset of the year Yes, I know it's wishful thinking, but i've got to stand by my Bulldogs. -
YTOWNOUgrad, They have never played during the regular season or any other season. I thought you understood that from all the previous posts.
I do find it funny that although nobody is "meaning anything", that it's Poland people bringing up "incidents" and questioning the "security" at Fitch.
Why doesn't everyone just sit back and relax and let these kids play the game on the field without any enticing remarks from the peanut gallery? You're doing these two fine football teams an injustice by these little side remarks. Like I said earlier, Mooney and Poland played in a boys soccer tournament game at Poland Seminary High School a few weeks back, where the Mooney fans outnumbered the Poland fans 2 to 1. There was no problem on the field or off. So why bring anything that happened 4 years ago that had zero to do with either of these football teams into this discussion? -
Columbus CardI guess folks don't really want to talk about the football game just how the student bodies from each team have act in the past.
I for one think that folks who attend this game will be treated to some of the best high school talent in the area on both teams, this should be one hell of a game. I hope both teams play injury free and represent their schools well.
GO CARDS!!! -
bulldog8Ytown....your intransigence baffles me. Once again, read my message carefully and quit accusing me of wrong doing. My remarks weren't peanut gallery BS intended to stir things up. Numerous people on the huddle were questioning why Poland won't man up and play Mooney in the regular season. I provided a reason why. And what happened four years ago DID have to do with why these schools haven't played since in any sport in the regular season. So maybe instead of attacking me for bringing this up, you should silence some of your fellow Mooney huddlers for questioning the decisions of Poland's athletic director. I guess you just can't fathom where I am coming from with this discussion. If Mooney fans want to question our athletic director's decisions in scheduling, you better believe i'm going to defend his decisions and argue back with legitimate reasoning. However, you fail to accept any other point of view but your own. I simply defended Poland from comments that implied our AD is too trepid to schedule Mooney and you accuse me of making irrelevant remarks. The purpose of the huddle is to express an opinion. I defended mine and you are defending yours. Although they do not coincide with one another does not give you the right to belittle my opinion.
I agree with ColumbusCard....This discussion needs to get back to the game, not our disagreements. This will be a battle between two of the area's top programs. I sure hope the Dogs can give Mooney more resistance than Hubbard did. I think the differences that Poland presents that Hubbard didn't are a stronger defensive unit and a more solid front 6 than the Eagles. Poland has used the rushing attack to its advantage much of the year and has not relied on spreading it out and throwing as much as Hubbard. I hope that Poland's balance on offense will give Mooney more too worry about than Hubbard. I see very little weakness on Mooney's defense for Poland to exploit. Their secondary is strong and should keep Patton fairly in check, which mean Poland WILL have to run the football. If they can do that successfully, they will have a chance. Otherwise, it will be a long night. We all know that Mooney will get their points on Poland's defense, but I highly doubt they will put up 55 like they did last week. -
YTOWNLOL, Bulldog!
95% of the people on here have no idea what you just said (intransigence).
I am not unwilling to compromise, but I will continue to bring up facts when people state otherwise. Someone quoted you, I made sure he also knew the "other" facts that he had not quoted and possibly not read. Someone else questioned the need for security, like this is Poland playing Adam Sandler and the Mean machine in a Prison game. I mean come on now. Mooney has never had the need for anything out of the norm anywhere or against anyone they've played before. Why should this game be different? Other than the fact there should be 10,000 fans there?
If you and others want the rebuttal to cease, stop posting statements that are either not 100% factual or that are complete nonsense. If you take that personal, I apologize, as I am speaking to everyone in general.
p.s. I in no way "attacked you" as you state. I simply told you that you for some reason forgot to mention the reason for both instances becoming more than what they should have. I also corrected your original number, which you then agreed to as well. -
bulldog8^^YTown....Point taken. I apologize for not presenting accurate facts and appreciate you straightening those out. I agree with you that security will not be the most important issue Friday night. Assuring that Poland comes out alive after running into this Mooney buzzsaw might be more pertinent. Thanks for understanding my defense of Poland's AD, but I was forced to unleash my vocabulary to indicate my seriousness I knew the majority would not be able to translate my hidden messages, i'm glad you were knowledgable enough to do so haha Best of luck to your Cards Friday, although I highly doubt they will need it.

ck9Early weather forecasts are calling for game time temps in the upper 40's with a chance of isolated showers!
-
YTOWNNo problem Bulldog. Let's hope the rain holds off, both teams play their best and everyone stays injury free.
-
bulldog8From the sounds of it, the few rain showers that are expected shouldn't have much of an affect on this game. Poland has proven it can pass in the rain against Steubenville and Mooney has a staunch rushing attack so I will accept light showers However, if this turns into a downpour, I think the advantage turns to Mooney with their ability to ground it out with the run game. If Poland loses some of their balance with the inability to pass in heavy rains, Poland will become severly one-dimensional and their rushing attack is not good enough to keep them in the game. I think from a fan's point of view, zero rain would be preferred, but I can't imagine that a few showers will deter this crowd come Friday night. Do any Mooney huddlers have any potential worries about this game? I know it's hard to pinpoint any, but are there any weaknesses in this Mooney team? What mismatches does Poland present?

mother_gooseJust so no one is fooled, the poster, or rather poser, posting as YTOWN on this forum is NOT the YTOWN from JJ Huddle.
Nice try, buddy. I could tell by your improper syntax and grammar. The real YTOWN would never pen that tripe. -
YTOWNTripe? What exactly was tripe in your opinion? Nothing I said was untrue. Why so violent mother? That's not very motherly of you. A name is a name, are you the real mother goose? Or are you a posing?

Using a moniker made famous by someone else is dishonest. You are trading on the good name, earned respectfully over many years, of someone else.YTOWN wrote: Tripe? Why not pick a user name that someone else hasn't made famous? Make your own mark.
I am the same Mother Goose as on JJ Huddle. Can you say the same about your user name? -
bulldog8^^Hhhmmmm.....could it be possible he created that name without knowing that it previously existed on jjhuddle? Irregardless, this is not jjhuddle anymore anyways. This is the free huddle and he has the right to create any name that he wishes. Let it go!

I think the operative word here is 'create'. It is obvious to me, as someone who enjoyed reading the original YTOWN's prose for years, that this imposter was trying to copy his style and substance. You're right, he can register under whatever name he chooses, but it doesn't make it right. Didn't RADCARD come on here a few days ago and challenge the poster who had tried to assume his huddle identity? Was he wrong to do so. After all, the other guy registered first.bulldog8 wrote: ^^Hhhmmmm.....could it be possible he created that name without knowing that it previously existed on jjhuddle? Columbus Card
MG, I'm impressed, you did pay attention in school with the use of the english language. By the way DadCard use to make tripe when we we're youngin's, stunk up the entire house, me and RadCard could never get up the nerve to eat it.mother_goose wrote: Just so no one is fooled, the poster, or rather poser, posting as YTOWN on this forum is NOT the YTOWN from JJ Huddle.

So we've now had someone come on as RadCard (Rad Card) and now Ytown. Just to keep it honest this is Columbus Card and no one else.
By the way GO CARDS take it to the Dogs on Friday night. -
Columbus Card4cards, call my cell tomorrow.

Cmhs74Question for the Mooney faithful, how did the team fair injury wise against Hubbard? I would guess that the team is in pretty good shape considering the amount of time the first team played. Any update would be appreciated.
-
bulldog8Mother goose.....If the name was stolen intentionally then that's a shame. However, due to the nature of the huddle, no one can prove whether this fella was on the previous huddle and copied someone else's name. There is equal probability that someone joined and wanted to make the name YTOWN as there is probability that someone copied it. After all, many youngstown folk are on the huddle so it's probably a popular name. In my opinion, this is a new and completely independent huddle from that of JJ's and therefore every person has the right to choose whatever name they like, regardless of whether it previously existed on JJ.
-
Mooney44CardsOh my god everybody shut up, who cares if its YTOWN or not?!
To answer a few questions: the only weakness I have seen in this Mooney team is the occasional blown coverage leading to an open receiver. Saw this a few times in the Watterson game. Now, even with open receivers, the Watterson QB never got the ball to any of them because he was running for his life or throwing the ball away. That being said, I didn't see ONE open receiver last week against Hubbard.
If Poland's Oline can give Reardon some time, they may have some success. I just don't see that happening.
As to the injury bug, Karrington Griffin got slightly shook up on a cheap horse-collar tackle that wasn't called. Didn't look too bad, not sure as to the extent of it. -

CC: Thanks. I wouldn't eat it either, even if DadCard did cook it.Columbus Card wrote:

bulldog8Mooney44cards.....I agree that Poland's offensive line probably won't be able to give Reardon enough time in the pocket to look downfield, but if they do, look out! Poland struggled greatly against Steubenville and Canfield to protect Reardon and give him time to throw and I would imagine that Mooney plans to exploit that weakness.
