Apples and Oranges...if you don't get that nobody can help you!Red Rider Nation;1673032 wrote:Jason Hall out as Massillons coach! See what happens when you don't win in a football town?? You go! Until Orrville gets on board with this you will continue to see the same results. It doesn't take much to figure that out!! Numbers this and numbers that win or go!!! -
RedRider1We should want to be more like Massillon. Where drunken idiot fans toss bottles on the field when the calls don't go their way. I'm sure running down the coach is par for the course in (never won a)Title-town.
City doesn't have 2 nickles to rub together, but there's new uniforms and helmets every single week.
Heck, Nike even landed a helicopter at their field to deliver new uniforms for their game. Lot of good it did them. Lost 56-7. -
sanitizerIgnoring numbers and a potential lack of talent is kind of like ignoring a NASCAR with a four banger engine on the line at a major race.... Just don't make sense.
With that being said, WOW that game was hard to watch! Lot of time between now and next season, sure hope these kids get active and work to become better athletes. STILL got faith in my town and always will! I remember putting it on Wooster pretty good back in the day, twisted a few ankles and whatever else I could get ahold of under the pile those days as well! LOL! It is all a part of the gig, now that the game is over I wish them well. ANYTIME our county can send teams to the playoffs it brings legitimacy to our area. I think we are pretty far from a conference change anytime soon... Have to wait and see what happens. A year can make a huge difference when your 15-17 years old! -

Kids have to want to change...It starts by being strong and that does not happen by accident. Will they put the time in? We will see. You will be able to tell five minutes into the first scrimmage.sanitizer;1673071 wrote:Ignoring numbers and a potential lack of talent is kind of like ignoring a NASCAR with a four banger engine on the line at a major race.... Red Rider NationI spoke with one of the dads last week who shared his disgust with me before I could even say anything about the Wooster game. He said Doug's post game speech went like this: boys we are better than our record indicated, juniors and underclassmen 2 a days next year will be hell!
If that doesn't sum up this football program I don't know what will. I know for a fact this particular kid is transferring because dad thinks Doug is an "idiot"!! This is real guys you better start to realize there are more people in that town than the 6 people that talk on here! -
sanitizerRed Rider Nation,
If you take a look at history both athletically and socially, individuals who stand on a hillside and yell with vigor and discontent their stance on any subject without internalizing and evaluating all possible influential factors….. Well, those kinds of “movements” look and feel empty, careless, angry and quite often a symptom of something else. Now I am not trying to sound derogatory towards you or your viewpoint but you have to understand your tone and methods are more Jerry Springer than Dr. King. And I don’t mean that in a disrespectful way but the contrast is needed to make a point here.
When I played ball, I bet I could have gotten a dozen people who didn’t agree with coach Mac together to “protest”. And I am sure It will be pretty easy to get some parents and athletes who feel disenchanted with the treatment of his or her son to show up and make their voices known. By making that statement I am not saying that they were not BUT The REAL test for you is if you can get a number of people with “football credentials” to support your viewpoint…. No different than the court of law, witnesses that have had a negative interaction with the accused are more often than not dismissed from testifying.
Keep in mind that the personal attacks (even the ones you feel are warranted), make everything you are trying to do lose momentum with most people. If you want to be taken seriously then you should act like it. It is a shame you can’t find a way to focus all this energy in a more positive way but we are all built differently. I will curiously await the outcome of your current efforts…. Should be interesting? We should meet at the old house and talk it over a game of horse! -
5knotsRidiculous talk. Any parent who is transferring a kid from Orrville because of Coach D is doing his kid a disservice. No coach is more dedicated to molding young men than him. If they want to transfer because they are concerned their child is gonna get beat up in the OCC that's another thing. I had three boys go thru the program and they had plenty of friends and ALL would tell you how much they learned about hard work and discipline, and commitment from Caoch Davault. I was able to watch 2 Orrville games this year. The kids played hard and gave great effort even though the talent and size gap was as bad as I have seen in a while. We had barely enough to field a competent team. The OCC is no joke when it comes to football. Even teams that have down years gave us trouble in the past with their size. In the past we had enough talent scattered around to offset the size and numbers difference but it still beat us up for the playoffs. Parents are entitles to make decisions they think are best for their kids....that doesn't always mean it is a good decision, they just have that right.

Well said...I might also add that the people on the team that put the most time in the weight room last year was your head coach. Now you will hear RRN say it is the coaches job to make them do the work....guess what it is not. It is the coaches job to give the kids the opportunity and they have to take it and run with it. The weight room out there is top notch I suggest the kid and his dad that want to transfer find the weight room and learn how to use it. Spend the summer there and be ready to play. Don't take the easy way out and let your kid move to another school that won't be so hard...5knots;1673380 wrote:Ridiculous talk. jacoI got one for you guys, and I wonder how Davault or coach Mac would've handled this?
A freshman mom in Wooster just told me their starting right tackle beat the heck out of a freshman boy in the locker room literally the night before the Orrville game. Sounds like for no real reason. He just out of the blue punched him in the face and laid him out. I guess there was a major brawl with other kids coming in to defend this freshman. What would Mac or Davault have done with this goon? It doesn't sound like any of this ever got reported to the principal or AD. The kid's punishment was he got benched the first two series against Orrville. That was it. All swept under the rug. And I think the captains decided his punishment, not the coach. That makes sense! This freshman, meanwhile, is walking around the school with a massive black eye all week. Don't know how the AD or principal didn't notice it!
Is that how all programs operate these days? I can't imagine other coaches letting this stuff go. Or do they all care so much about winning that they just turn a blind eye to everything? Makes me worry about the future of football. -

First thing is there had to be some reason...valid or not. Second, you could have sat the entire first string against Orrville and the outcome would not have changed. Third to much is taken to the AD and the principal sometimes these things have to be handled in house (by the kids and especially the Captains)jaco;1673621 wrote:I got one for you guys, and I wonder how Davault or coach Mac would've handled this?

I have seen this happen to players in fights in locker rooms before and it never even ended in a suspension of playing time. It was handled by the kids/players and then it was over. -
RedRider1Logical Reasoning: He's suspended a game. As a coach, you put your foot down that behavior like that against a teammate isn't tolerated.
It sends a message.
Illogical Reasoning: Blame the coach for lack of control & discipline. Seek his immediate removal through a petition. -
sanitizerIn my time at Orrville I can't remember ONE instance where an older senior or junior beat up a freshman for anything? I don't even recall any one on one battles... I remember my Junior year having a TEAM fight in the locker room about what kind of effort we were going to put in at practice as a team. We asked the coaches to leave and locked the doors for that one. We had instances of kids loafing or not keeping their mouth shut when being disciplined by a coach and that would cost the team extra laps or punishment. but WE as a TEAM handled that stuff in the locker room but I don't remember that ever coming to blows?
This doesn't sound football related to me but who knows. Sounds like this kid was mad about a girl or money..... IDK, but you can't have THAT kind of violence happening in the locker room PERIOD! That does not and has not ever done anything to build a team up? Sounds like there is a lot to this story that we may never know... -
Old RiderMany team meetings in the lockerroom without the coaches around got plenty of issues resolved. Some involved "words of motivation"...LOL...while others involved an altercation or two, but it ended there. The issue of topic has all kinds of missing pieces. There was definately a motivating factor for a kid to punch another kid. Sounds to me like the kid deserved it or his parents would have been raising hell for more punishment. My gues is the little shit ran his mouth one too many times and the senior took care of it. I see no problem with the punishment. Makes sense to me.
-
Old RiderBut in Orrville now we have "Character education"...LOL!!! So instead of settling things the way this kid did, our student would be punished because he was not a "character kid"....SMH.

Could not agree more! Kids can't handle things on there own anymore.Old Rider;1673821 wrote:But in Orrville now we have "Character education"...LOL!!! So instead of settling things the way this kid did, our student would be punished because he was not a "character kid"....SMH. -
unc4lifeSounds like Wooster and Orrville will keep the rivalry going in week 1 starting in 2016. Should be a fun way to start the season
-
gowooThe beginning of the end of this rivalry, it's probably time.
-
gowooNot sure I understand the reasoning for a Thursday game though. School the next day? How fun would that be?
