So we have kids who have checked out, no physical or mental toughness, and captains getting ejected and suspended and we are still ok with our current coach at the helm?? You guys love this dude! Lol!
  • Red Rider Nation
So let me see: we lose a playoff game to a Wayne county athletic school, then go 1-9, then suffer our worst losses ever to Wooster on our own turf, then our worst loss to Triway and we don't want to make a change?? If ANYBODY in Orrville is ok with this then it's the exact reason this program is on a one way road to a being eliminated! Kids don't want to play for the guy I still know enough people in that town to know most share my opinions they just won't be vocal about it. Wait though he is a good role model!?! Hahaha who cares????

You must not know many people...We lost a playoff game to a state champion and we did not have our starting QB, we lost to Triway this year and they are very good and we are not. We have very little talent and you want to fire the coach. So tell us old great one who is the coach that will turn this around? I will wait....

Red Rider Nation, I do know you and your passion is in the right place. These are certainly HUGE events in the larger picture. I don't think it is what you are saying but "how" you say it? I don't think anyone who really understands football, and the history of the program doesn't think there is a need to ask some serious questions top to bottom at the end of the season. I do think it is just a little short sighted to lay ALL the blame on the coach without taking some other factors into consideration. When we do that it looks like we have an axe to grind? NOW I am NOT saying he is without blame either. I have heard more than one person say the play calling has been questionable (although the kind of athlete you have or don't have can greatly have an influence on play calling). I also see the problem with penalties and attitude. But I know of a few games when I played and we were losing badly and keeping your cool was TOUGH!!!! And these kids seem to have it even worse! When you are that young and KNOW you are playing for a great program and week after week you seem to fall short..... It's a LOT of pressure for kids just getting their drivers license! At the end of the day these are KIDS. In my personal opinion there just seems to be a lot at work in these last few years that are have a negative influence on our little town. That being said, EVERYTHING should be reviewed and evaluated at years end to see where we stand?

    Just my $.4

    Good Luck tonight Riders...Go get A W!

    Good luck tonight, Red Riders.

Should be a good game tonight. Wishing the Riders luck for one last week this season.

This game will be like two midgets slapping each other!!
  • unc4life
This game might be who scores the most, both teams giving up 40 points a game. First one to 80?

ha.. i was going to post a pic of two handicapped kids fighting each other, but thought that would be cruel. Worst part is I really can't tell you who will win this game. The teams are mirror images.

Maybe they both make it to 80. It's already happened once this year between two teams playing each other.

    I don't think we win a shootout.

I remember thinking we'd compete with them last year down in the Valley but lost 35-7. They have a very mobile QB and we've had trouble stopping anyone on D.

We really need to make a few plays on defense. Give our offense a short field and try to get a lead and control the ball.

Let's get a W and go into Wooster week feeling good.
  • CCRolly
The Riders come up short in a shootout with the Colts. Sounded like a pretty entertaining game. Now they hit the road for rivalry week at Wooster, who's playing for an OCC Championship and Playoff berth. Go Woo!!!

I give a mountain of credit to our kids who gave every bit of effort they had last night.

We Lost another 2-way starter before the game to grades & your best athlete in the 2nd quarter to injury.

in addition to several others out (hurt & suspended) and it was just too much to overcome.

For most of the game we had 2 freshmen & a 1st year junior playing WR.

Luke had 425 passing & 173 rushing. Unreal effort.

Never thought I'd see any team score 48 & rack up 650 yds of offense & lose.

Effort this and effort that it all equals another L in the loss column! So after next week Doug will have racked up an astounding 7-23 record in the last 3 years and I'm still the only one wanting him out?? We are now applauding effort in Orrville. You are right RR1 a lot has changed in Orrville!

I would imagine the heat gets turned up after next Saturday. My best advice is don't attend this game, don't listen to the radio, don't read the paper Sunday...pretend it never happened. It's gonna get ugly.
  • CCRolly
The tables have certainly turned on Orrville. I remember the countless times the Riders ran it up on the Generals!

Is this game really on a Saturday? Still?? Nobody outside of a few fans in Wooster really give a crap about this game so why not stick to Friday? They will have to contend with the 8pm slot of the Buckeyes. Same old! Wooster will make the playoffs and get run over by some sub par team and Orrville goes home. B-O-R-I-N-G!!!

Don't fool yourself toolbag...Wooster could very well win a game or two in their region. If you ever coached Orrville it would be the equivalent of the death penalty...much like the NCAA sanctions against SMU in the 80's.

Get over yourself! You constantly get on this thread like Wooster is a rejuvenated football team from days of old. They aren't! Ok they make the playoffs congrats but that's where it always ends. They benefited from a down year in the OCC! Stop acting like we should all mirror our programs after yours-no really!
  • jaco
This game should be played Friday night so Wooster can start preparing for the playoffs on Saturday. It's inconsequential. And personally, I think this should be the last edition of Orrville/Wooster. The game means nothing anymore. It had a good run, but these are two schools who have no reason to play one another. A D2 school has nothing to gain from playing a D5 school, and the Orrville kids really don't need to finish their season with getting their brains beaten out. Get out of the OCC next season. Not good for the program's future. And surprise, the kids really aren't that into it. They play summer ball with each other, etc. The rivalry is largely dead. I've actually heard Wooster football players comment that they'd support Orrville football over Ashland or such because they're the only other Wayne County team in the OCC. Times have changed, indeed.
  • Old Rider
Game should be on Friday. Hardly would call this a rivalry anymore...kids don't see it that way, only us older folks that played when the game meant something to the players and their communities. Kids could care less!!

Congrats to Woo on your 4th playoff appearance! You guys are post-season regulars now!
  • O-Trap
Man, some of you guys fight almost as much as the Waynedale crowd.

Here's hoping that Orrville plays a good game this week. A wise mentor of mine always reminded me that how you finish is more important than how you start.
