2013 Orrville Red Riders football

Old RiderThe defense gave the offense plenty of opportunties and they did nothing with it. Summers needs more touches...period! Our offense sucks...period. Davault was blessed with talent when he got the job and now we are experiencing what he can do when our talent is down and it hasnt been good.

Who are you going to run into at the Buehler's in Jackson Township?? LOL.Red Rider Nation;1520002 wrote:You all see it you just wont admit it because you are ALL afraid of running into someone at the grocery store and getting looked at funny- me on the other hand! Not so much!!
Nice to have the old RRN back. Knew all that positive talk wouldn't last if & when things got rough. -

Bingo! Anyone can win with talent but your true coaching abilities come out when all that talent is gone. Davaults true colors are showing and he cannot win with this program. With that being said and with the cupboard obviously being bare the next few years why not change it now?Old Rider;1520054 wrote:The defense gave the offense plenty of opportunties and they did nothing with it. I'm not totally disagreeing with you, but we've only managed to share 1 OCC title in a decade. Our good teams (2006, 08 & 09) didn't win one. It's always been a tough football conference for us.Old Rider;1520054 wrote:The defense gave the offense plenty of opportunties and they did nothing with it. Summers needs more touches...period! That's part of the problem too. We need to get out of this conference. We're outnumbered & outsized against everyone. -

Yes we didn't win the conference title those years because our coach could never consistently get his team ready to play-that team last nite was not bigger than us and an opponent we should have beat-we need to stop with all the excuses and look straight at the real problem!! This guy cannot and I mean CANNOT win here! Save me the nonsense with his overall record too just another long line of excuses! Change it now!!!RedRider1;1520065 wrote:I'm not totally disagreeing with you, but we've only managed to share 1 OCC title in a decade. Our good teams (2006, 08 & 09) didn't win one. Just curious RR1, have you asked any of the key people in the Admin about leaving the conference? If so, what were you told? Just curious if you got the same response I did when I asked about it.RedRider1;1520065 wrote:I'm not totally disagreeing with you, but we've only managed to share 1 OCC title in a decade. I talked to the OCC commish and he said the WCAL would never have us. Obviously the PAC doesn't want us. Not sure where that leaves is..other than stuck in the OCC.Red Rider;1520078 wrote:Just curious RR1, have you asked any of the key people in the Admin about leaving the conference? I think quietly, a lot of coaches, and a few that I know for sure, would be in favor of a move.
I've never spoke with our AD or anyone else that matters about the issue though.
What was it you were told? -

we will have to agree to disagree about Zook (how many downs of football have you played coming back from a torn mcl) and Ritchie, on one of your suggestion on punt returns (wont put a name out there when its not my kid) were you at the Ashland and Madison games, Ashland he drops a kick off on the two yard line and they get a safety then he dropped a wide open pass that would have been a td and at Madison he did the same thing minus the safety, so would you agree that fielding a punt with guys up in your face and possible taking a hit is a little more stressful then a kick off, and Ritchie has some of the best hands on the team ( I would agree the coaches need to back him up and I think they did last night) the one guy you want fielding punts I have seen all his football years, trust me the right guy is back there. Owens I agree with you, needs to work at some things, but not ready to give up on him. Are you suggesting Domer (130-140 lb freshman need to be in the back field blocking when we are throwing if he is not getting the ball, or short down yardage), I think he is a huge part of this team and will be a bigger part in the future, but he had trouble in the Ashland game when he played a good part of the game, they started going right at him in the second half, that's a lot to ask of a freshman he has held up well so far.Red Rider Nation;1520016 wrote:Were you at the same game as me? Perhaps you turned left there off of Route 30 in Jeromesville and were at a different game! You want specifics? Ok Ritchie put us in bad field position on the punt returns time after time-the kid is not aggressive. He stands there and watches the ball go behind him. That has been the case all year long maybe you should take off your (Davault love) glasses and actually see reality once! #5 and #21 are the only 2 that should be returning anything. Zook played like he was afraid to get hit. Owens stands straight up at the line because he too is afraid of getting hit! Domer isn't on the field enough and again Summers put his ass on the line for a team that embarrassed him last night. Should have been a playoff game but again was anything but. I ask out of a team and their coaches to e better in Games 8,9,10 then in Game 1. So back at ya are they??? -
BRFI would be happy if we ended up 5-5 with a win over Wooster. That would be a tremendous success, imo.
Two games left: BOTH winnable. -

LOL..If you DID live in Orrville, your mouth wouldn't run as much...I would bet the farm on that. -
iced earthNot buying that the WCAL wouldn't take you if it was you guys and Triway together. The last time that was even considered Orrville was D3, and Triway was a big D4 sneaking up on D3. Both districts have changed and aren't going to grow anytime soon. The logistics of keeping Wooster in the week 10 slot is an issue.
-
AllOhioBack to the season at hand... I agree w/BRF. If we can beat Wooster I would consider the season a success and the outlook for next season positive. There aren't a lot of teams that go from 1-9 to 5-5...that's progress!

Not everyone can win w/ talent, ie. John Cooper. Tons of draft-pick type talent but couldn't win it all. If you're saying we're seeing Coach Davaults true colors then you are actually saying he's a very good coach (I agree) since he's managed to go 4-4 with no talent.Red Rider Nation;1520063 wrote:Bingo! Not in a million years would the WCAL take Orrville or Triway. This isn't just about football, it's volleyball, baseball, track, basketball.. Orrville would totally dominate across the board.iced earth;1520270 wrote:Not buying that the WCAL wouldn't take you if it was you guys and Triway together. What made most sense was doing a big/small split of the OCC, with more eastern schools added. Unfortunately, I know the Lexingtons and Madisons of the league don't want that. If anything, they want more Richland County teams. I really think it's time that Orrville, Wooster and West Holmes leave the conference and find or create a conference closer to home. That Lexington drive is ridiculous. -

Because they have something magical in the water?jaco;1520445 wrote:Not in a million years would the WCAL take Orrville or Triway. This isn't just about football, it's volleyball, baseball, track, basketball.. Orrville would totally dominate across the board.
I submit that as they've shrunk in size, the sports would be more competitive than you're indicating. At least before, you could make a case for a larger talent pool. With them getting smaller, any chance to consistently be better is, more or less, removed. There is nothing special about the campus location, talent pool, or anything else that magically makes them "better."
I certainly don't think they'd be a joke, by any stretch. Orrville seems to expect a lot from its athletic program ... something of which to be proud. But at the end of the day, there is no case to be made that Orrville, in its current state, has any arguable leg up. Quite honestly, I think they'd be a great fit in the WCAL, as would Triway. -

Very true...The ego of ghosts past is threatening to ruin the Orrville program. No coach is going to take a true D5 team that doesn't recruit and compete against D1,2,and 3 teams for 7 weeks in a row in conference. If Orrville doesn't find a better fit they are looking at several years of 3,4,and 5 win seasons. Tradition will go out the window as the kids lose interest in getting beat by bigger schools.O-Trap;1520462 wrote:Because they have something magical in the water?

Then I would have to compare Doug Davault to John Cooper-had some good records in season but couldn't seem to win the big ones when it mattered even with allyhe talen he had! Thanks for clearing that up!!AllOhio;1520350 wrote:Not everyone can win w/ talent, ie. John Cooper. Tons of draft-pick type talent but couldn't win it all. It wouldn't be any different for me. I will tell you how I see it no matter where I am. Most people like you hide behind screen names on here and talk all tough because you think people don't know who you are. Also if you think the majority of Orrville fans have the same opinion of the half dozen or so posters on here you are dead wrong. I have been to game after game and seems as if that inner circle of Davault followers is disappearing! We had a playoff type game Friday and less than 100 fans attended. Some are just tired Of the same old lack of game planning and won't associate with a football program they once knew. Keep in mind the majority of people that are involved with the program don't even know this site exists. There are another 3 or 4 people on here who only go to home games!1_beast;1520265 wrote:LOL..If you DID live in Orrville, your mouth wouldn't run as much...I would bet the farm on that.
