    Obvious troll is obvious.

After 7 games, the season as a whole has gone as good as one could expect following last season IMO. The 4-0 start was a nice surprise, the losses (Sr., WH, Ash) were predictable and now we have 3 winnable games to go. Let's face it...we could win out and make the playoffs. After going 1-9 last year, I'll take it! Keep work'n Riders!

I don't think they have to win out. I think 2 out of three gets you in. It is crunch time and this team now has to ring the bell. They let WH game get away and lost to Ashland in about 5 mins of bone head plays and bad coaching. Really the first time this season I have seen that. Clean it up and go get in the playoff! Shut everybody up, it is all up to you!

Yes, 2 wins may get us in but my point was: we have 4 wins and 3 remaining games that are very winnable - not many thought we'd win half our games, much less 6 or 7. These kids have given it their all and I see no reason why that will change. I disagree with the "bad coaching" comment. We lost due to poor tackling and blocking to a team that is just better than us. We've been better than 4 of our opponents, worse than 2 and arguably "almost" as good as 1 so I'm not complaining one bit.

I think they have to win out and even then they may be on the outside looking in. Currently #11 in the region. The teams in front of them have favorable schedules and we won't gain much by beating teams with losing records. Our play calling has been questionable especially when we get inside the 20. Field goals won't win you games against good teams. The tackling has been bad too. This is the most important game of the season coming up and let's see how many fans will actually show up. Win 3 and see if it's enough! Best case scenario it may earn you a 3 hour drive to Coldwater

Yeah, I don't think a 6-4 record gets them in, even with the wins it would be.

According to Drew Pastures computer simulations...Win out you have a real good chance of getting in. In the 80% range. Lose a game and it drops down to a 30% possibility.

My coaching comment was on the 4th and 1 play in our own territory after the Defense just gave up a TD and looked like they were playing flag football. If you don't get that and we did not, you are really putting D in a bad position. However, the call may have been made because the coaches did not feel they could put the defense back out there right away with a punt...Splitting hairs but that was a big moment in that game.

Clear Fork is going to be "the game". If Orrville can beat Clear Fork, then you can probably beat Wooster. Madison's been playing much better the past two weeks, though, so that's not even the cakewalk i was predicting a few weeks ago.

I know that in practice Orrville does tackling drills but live tackling has been limited to keep kids healthy. They practice in shorts all week. This may attribute to the bad tackling of late. Arm tackling works in practice when the coach is whistling plays dead to keep kids from getting hurt. Time to go back to the basics or the season will end Friday with a loss to Madison....and unfortunately I think it happens! Please prove me wrong!

wow this just sums up why at times this team seems soft! Don't want to have injuries? Then don't play football but if you want to get better in practice then you perfect things before Fridays. Why not just practice like its flag football because sometimes that what it looks like!
  • Red Rider Nation
And you wonder why Davault isn't one of my favorite coaches? Practice in shorts all week??? WOW!!! I am sure some of you will find GOOD reason as usual to defend him in for that! Hilarious really!!
  • Old Rider
    Yes...All week!

I do believe it has helped to keep a few healthy, but injuries happen....it is football!

Was it 5 or 6 years ago Rittman only had 14 players? Well guess what? They got after it in practice they sure the hell didn't practice in shorts!! That's embarrassing!!

Stop right there! Bringing Rittman into an Orrville thread is EMBARRASSING! Looking at their program's history, maybe they SHOULD'VE tried different practice methods! Wow

Well at least they practiced in full pads!
  • Old Rider
    Man...sorry I mentioned the shorts!
    Go Riders!

4 wins right now is really really good.

If we beat Wooster, the season would be a tremendous success along with a guaranteed .500 record.

Unfortunately, you are what you practice! It may work against the weaker teams, however...

Someone said that it would be "Wooster's Super Bowl and/or playoffs to beat Orrville", from all the talk on here it seems rather it would be that for you Orrville fans!

You ain't a homey, so I wouldn't expect you to understand my "old folks" comment.

Cant win with some of you...if a two-way starter got hurt in practice, you'd be all over coach just the same.

He's not being soft on the kids, just trying to preserve kids for Friday night. A senior should know how to tackle.....period.

Season has gone pretty much as expected..if not a bit better. Some of us predicted 4-0 was very possible, and it happened...and we knew these last 3 would be tough...and they were. So we're basically sitting right where we thought. It's just reality. Senior, WH and Ash may all be playoff teams. No shame in losing to schools more than 2x your size.

If we get 6 wins, we're in. Fantastic50.net projects us as having 6 wins....favored by 8 this week vs. Madison, then by 2 over Clear Fork and by 1 over Wooster (the last 2 are basically toss up games).

I know the 'next game' is most important, but I truly think the game this week at Madison defines the season. Win this and it take a world of pressure off. Lose this and you have to go to Clear Fork (never easy) and beat your rival to make it to the playoffs....no easy task. If we lose this week, we probably finish 4-6. Kids need a win bad.

My concern is offensively we haven't been very good the last few weeks. 16 vs Lex in the rain, 0 vs Senior, 16 vs. West Holmes (not counting the kick return) and 10 vs. Ashland. 42 in our last 4 games, less than 11 per, isn't going to get it done most weeks. The only saving grace is that these were against easily the best 3 teams in the league.

Fantastic50 also is projecting we face 1 seed COLDWATER in the first round. A rematch of the '98 state title game. That would be very interesting.
