I will answer that when you answer the one that I asked 2 years ago-why was Davault throwing the football in the playoff game against Triway with 1:44 on the clock winning and Triway had NO timeouts??? Good football IQ! Maybe you have had that scenario in your Madden game??
The playoff game 4 years ago that we won? Still hung up on that? Wow man.

And I've not cared nor checked in a long time how many people visit my site...but since you seem concerned about it I peeked at it....23,000 site visits over the last year. Not bad huh? And that's way off from what it used to be.

And no the site isn't down.....but nice try.

I know you're one of those visitors so thanks. Make sure that all that historical info you read on my site makes it into the book.

rrfan;1521126 wrote:As far as the "talented" teams still not winning the OCC...don't you think there may have been reasons for that outside of coaching? Like kids getting busted drinking and the Coach sitting there butts out even if it cost them a win or two....
"Outside of coaching"? At least two of those "drinking" events happened during the football season and/or just prior to the beginning of school season but during practice season. As I recall, it was stated on here that practice was being held in the evening in an attempt to eliminate the students "after hours" activities as they would be too exhausted. I also recall some of the Rider "faithful" saying that some of those busted would not play basketball for the Coach Short as they did not respect him. Was that "activity" by the football players reflective of their "respect" for Coach Davault? Were those really reasons "outside of coaching"? Coach Davault's only recourse was to suspend them because it was publicized, i.e., in the newspaper. And one must ask, does that not fall under coaching/mentoring?

a-Perhaps Dyson might not have left if he was given a proper opportunity here in Orrville last year were the coach not so short-sighted on running the ball!
b-Inman is simply lazy as I've heard before...a right coach would either motivate him to perform or cut him, hence he sits if he's on the team at all.
c-I attended the McK vs Buchtel game, Short received quite a bit of time at WR in which he acquired a stress fracture in I believe his right leg. I was told in Friday's game vs GlenOak, he is back in action and threw a TD pass and if I'm not mistaken caught a pass for a TD also!

Sometimes the coach can cause a player to move to where he might receive a FAIR opportunity or just not play at all!

Series62 is not and has never "cried" about Coach Davault being "too hard or unfair"!
Series62 does realize that hard work is required to attain "anything" that one will appreciate!
Series62 has made it clear that Coach Davault was unfair and wrong in his treatment of Series62's son during his sophomore year on the football team. It's not crying, just stating a fact just as you appear to be continually kissing the coaches hind-parts! In an earlier post you stated that my son "couldn't get on the field". Per the Coach Davaults unsolicited comments to me, my son was one of the best CB's and WR's considering he was just a sophomore. My son led the JV team in receptions, interceptions and TD's scored that season. After about the 4th or 5th week, Coach Davault decided to relegate him to KO and PR only, and that was when Orrville was kicking the ball. And get this, the fastest man on the team, only he's not put in position to return the ball! The two times he did return a kick, he advanced the ball to the +/-50 yard line. He never fumbled the ball, but the student that replaced him fumbled and lost possession on three occasions. (his replacement was also one of those that was busted drinking on two or three occasions).

My son was the fastest athlete on the team and he did not need Coach Davault to inspire his work ethic nor to teach him to give back to the community. I believe that many of the students of this community have been taught that by there parents. He was not part of those that got busted drinking or otherwise. He is a member of the National Honor Society and a very well decorated athlete of Orrville High School's Track and Field team. My son made it to the State Finals in track in four events in 2007 and 2008 and to the Finals in three events in 2009!

I say all this not to boast or brag by any means! I say it now yet never again to inform rrfan because he seems to think my son was average and that we are weak! My son decided on his own to not play football after that because Coach Davault lied and did not give him a fair opportunity, he could not trust him and did not want to be coached by him and he had my full support whatever decision he made!

rrfan, you continually post crap and misinformation about people you either don't like and/or know nothing about! You really need to SHUT UP!!!

Of course we can...however, the few Orrville faithful can't stand the truth, especially when it does not jive with the "Rider" colored glasses!

Aren't you supposed to discipline rr1 for the use of profanity, or does he get a "bye" because he advertises his blog on here? LOL!

But I don't advertise on this site. Nice try. It's called a 'profile signature'..and anyone can make one. Never paid a dime of advertising to this site or any other.

good post-I wondered when you would come through after the nonsense someone says about your own kid. Who does that?
  • RedRider1
Had Bryce stayed, he'd be a 2 way starter....same with Dyson too & Kayronn would probably be running the ball on offense for us.

All 3 saw plenty of PT last year...and in 2 of the 3 transfers, it was outside forces that caused their transfer, not any dissatisfaction with the Orrville program.

    Nation,
Aren't the players that you criticized a few days ago "someone's kid" too? You shouldn't cast so many stones from that glass house you live in. I'm sure you see it differently though...as always.

We finally agree on something...I don't like you! Although I already knew all the stats on your son at least you got to put them out there...Do you feel better? In fact I enjoyed watching your son perform at a high level on the track. See that is the difference between us I want all Riders at all sports to be the best.

Dyson did not get a chance last year? Dream on guy...go to a game once before you mouth off so that you actually know what you are talking about.

I also would love for you to clarify something for me...Is it the football coaches responsibility to keep 40-50 kids from getting into trouble or is it the parents? I do think even you and I can agree on this. Problem is the parents aren't doing there job and then expect a coach who really has no power to punish the athletes in any way but to sit them. Same parents would complain that a coach is unfair if he made them run or do any physical punishment. Society is soft because of parents like that. I am agreeing with you Series mark it down! That is actually twice in one post.

    HOLY SOAP OPERA!!!

Davault is not going anywhere unless he steps down on his own or the school board bands together like they did when Mac was here and vote him out!

The one thing that Mo, Mac, and Smitty had going for them and made them successful IMO was that not a one of them graduated from Orrville. They were not afraid to coach and by saying that I mean...they didn't care whos toes they stepped on or whos kid didn't play. Yes, Mac and Smitty were in the school building daily, but they didn't have the role that Doug Davault has which deals with kids on a more personal basis everyday. Smitty and Mac taught OWE/OWA and only dealt with a handful of kids.

The way I see it, if anything needs to happen first and foremost is that Doug needs to really consider going outside this town/area/state and do whatever you have to do to get a TRUE offensive coordinator in here and give the reigns to that person to run the offense. Doug needs to take the headset off IMO and just be a head coach!

My oldest son has played it the last 2 years and its light years away from what it was when Jerry Lane ran it. Its just an elephant and a tent away from a circus!
I like pee-wee and the numbers are good. 4 total teams from 4th to 6th grade. Thats more than any level at the higher grades just by numbers! Junior high is when we start losing kids!
I understand what you are saying, but the bottom line is the pee wee system is not helping the program. Numbers are high and then drop off when they get to Junior High. Think if the first time they get to put the pads on is in Junior High...what would happen? I bet numbers would be high just like the old days. Jerry Lane was awesome...I still remember him putting me through the 5/50 workouts.

Is there still a weight room at the Boys Club? I am guessing by the strength of the kids today probably not. Jerry built that Club up and I don't think anybody knew at the time how much effect that had on the Orrville Sports teams!

Bryce's Stats at Mck....just in the interest of accuracy.

This is per the website FridayNightOhio.com

    2 rushes for 15 yds - 1 TD
    3 receptions for 45 yds - 0 TD
    1-1 passing for 42 yds - 1 TD

102 total yards over 8 games, 2 TD in limited opportunities. Good for him.

I'm sure he's enjoying being on an 8-0 team too.

    I don't disagree with that.

Lets talk about Mo for a minute. He had teams with as much talent or more than anyone! Yet he did not coach well in the big games!

Series always tries to make a fight out of nothing. I was saying that talent would have been up if Dyson, Short and Inmen were still here. 2 of them want to be back here next year. Some how that turns into Short bashing. He could have had stats close to that in yardage per quarter here. Notice that most of his touches and yardage came at the WR spot. Interesting that is where Coach Davault wanted him too.

I think the numbers drop because of the league...we have won about 3-4 games in the last 3 years combine in the 7th-8th grades.

I don't totally disagree...but last I checked, the school isn't exactly hiring...and this isn't the old days where we can give them a cushy study hall job just so they can be here to coach.

You do have Coach Mac who has been attending our games this year and been up in the press box...wonder if he'd want to get back into coaching.

You also have coach McCreary now living in Orrville. He's still a teacher in wooster so not sure how that would work out.

Easy to say "this is what we need to do" but tougher when most any coordinator is going to want a teaching job along with it.

What about Mr. Hiller up in Michigan? That would be interesting if we could get him and his wife down here.

From what I understand Mr. Hiller has a good job up there. Also, I love coach Mac but do not want him as an offensive coordinator, although you would see a lot of Tailback option pass and fake punts.

    Thom McDaniels? Dave Vodika?
  • Old Rider
Thats because Denny Curtis occupies that cushy study hall job and he has already retired as a teacher. That could be an opening if you absolutely had to.
