RIDER DAD
When I coached at Wooster I shared the Dean Davis building (locker and weightroom) with Mike, My last year there was his first, and I always found him to be a stand up guy , and the kids seem to respond to him , sure seemed like a good character guy as well. I don't know about the X's and O's part, but I would have no problem with him helping out, heard he was a pretty good player in his day, if he would get on board with Doug's plan, I don't see the problem.CCRolly;1484756 wrote:My lips are sealed. -

Was a very good player in his day had tryout with Giants during Parcell years after Toledo. He is good with Kids and a very good guy but that doesn't always mean good coach, but I liked Mike a lot, think he may have kept the wrong people around him for to long at Wooster.RIDER DAD;1485045 wrote:When I coached at Wooster I shared the Dean Davis building (locker and weightroom) with Mike, My last year there was his first, and I always found him to be a stand up guy , and the kids seem to respond to him , sure seemed like a good character guy as well. with a name like Red Rider Nation you would think you would support the coach a little. You look to rip him every chance you get. What is it that you want to get out of it?Red Rider Nation;1485200 wrote:Doug's plan? LOL -

I can gladly change my name-I do support the program or I wouldn't go to all the games living 30 minutes to the east-it doesn't mean I agree with everything they do I am entitled to my opinion.rrfan;1485212 wrote:with a name like Red Rider Nation you would think you would support the coach a little. no nameDo any of you Orrville faithful know why the Jr High dropped Norwayne as their first game of the year? I see we are now playing Cloverleaf and was told Orrville dropped us. Personally I thought it was a good beginning game for both teams.

Attending games & supporting the team are 2 wildly different things. -
RedRider1Hearing rumblings that Cleve Lincoln West is again trying to back out of their week 1 game with us due to apparently only having 20 kids on their varsity team (they are a D 1 school).
I guess another Cleve city team would take their place. Hearing maybe it would be John Marshall.
Nothing official but looking more likely. -

Ok if that's your version Of whatever point you are trying to make-sorry I don't attend practice everyday so I am not on the same level of support that you are. Wildly LOL!!RedRider1;1485365 wrote:Attending games & supporting the team are 2 wildly different things. -

I'm not saying I support the program any more than anyone...just saying attending doesn't equal support.
Same way as attending church doesn't mean you support a church with your time, money & talents.
There's folks who prepare meals, give financially to the Booster Club, drive kids around on city fundraising night...to me..that's support.
Attending games to then bash the coach isn't support, but just my opinion. -

Please change your tone, you only diminish yourself, calling a coach Dougie, and jumping on his back for everything that goes wrong is getting old and tired. We all are aware of your thoughts the last two years, so why not let up on the person attacks, and wait until we start playing, you might be pleasantly surprised, we stay healthy and I think the daily record will need a napkin to wipe the egg off their face.Red Rider Nation;1485200 wrote:Doug's plan? REDRIDER555Don't worry Nation will blame Doug for the injury too.

rrfanRed Rider Nation- I believe this has been handled. We know your thought we don't have to agree with them lets move on to productive talk.

sanitizerThis team, coaches, players all need our support. We should save the fighting for a time when there is something to fight about? I understand RRN and his opinion about the coach, that is not saying I agree but lets see what these coaches and young men can put on the field before we start trying to tear it down fellas!
Lets bust some poop lockers loose!!!! Lets go RIDERS!!!! -

Shouldn't come to a point of tearing down kids.sanitizer;1485835 wrote:lets see what these coaches and young men can put on the field before we start trying to tear it down fellas!
How about we support these kids no matter what & let the coaches do their job? -

Who is tearing the kids down? Who is tearing the coach down? Some of you guys are really dramatic-just because I don't agree with the X's and O's from the coach's perspective doesn't mean I'm tearing him down-come on man! It's just football that's all. An Internet site with about 9 different people with opinions that differ from mine-again come on!RedRider1;1485976 wrote:Shouldn't come to a point of tearing down kids.

I am yet to hear you talk any X's and O's...How about we here that side of your argument. What do you want to see done and how do you want to see it done. Then we will have something to talk about. For me I want to see the passing game still be a big part of the offense. I want to see it used a little different than in past years. I want to see us get the ball to our guys in space and use many passes as an extension of the run. Take a shot down field, but do not want to see that being the staple.Red Rider Nation;1486030 wrote:Who is tearing the kids down? Who is tearing the coach down? Sanitizer's comment mentioned waiting to see how things do before tearing down what the kids & coaches are doing....my response was simply that it should never come to tearing down kids.
You've done nothing but dog Coach Davault since you've been on here.
And you're someone that has organized Red Rider meet ups before playoff games. I don't get how you were so high on the team just a few years ago.....unless it was just easier to root for us when we had D-1 recruits...and now it's tougher coming off 1-9.
Is it so hard just to say 'good luck & Go Riders?' -

Here is how I see it Nation. You (and others) criticize the staff for various things as if you know better than they. Now that's all fun and games on here and no harm should be done, so the rest of us can choose to ignore you or be critical of you. Do you know how ridiculous it is for a fan (Or parent) to think that they actually know better than the staff who are with these kids at every practice and know what they are capable of. Trust me when I tell you we are very very fortunate to have the dedication and time commitment from the staff we have. I would encourage you to spend a little time researching just how much time and commitment that is. I think even you may be surprised.Red Rider Nation;1486030 wrote:Who is tearing the kids down? 5knots^^^And in all fairness to you Nation....I always think I know better than the staff as well. hahaha. Even now with a B1G staff getting paid millions of dollars I (and other parents) during the progression of training camp and season actually think we know better too!. lol.

LOL...I am always trying to get in my brothers ear after a game and offer my two cents. But he is usually quick to counter with why my idea sucks or why it wouldn't work. Best leave it up to the coach!5knots;1486157 wrote:^^^And in all fairness to you Nation....I always think I know better than the staff as well. hahaha. RIDER DADHeard some good news on 8th grade, looks like we have enoughto have a team, about 16 kids, they will have a rough road in our league but there is a couple of gems in there, Auble kid looks nice, big ,fast linemen and there are some others, as always in a small school combine and we will be fine. Seventh has good numbers and quite a few big kids, no super stars but pretty balanced, again it will be interesting to see how they match up in our league. Highschool no horrible injuries so far but to many concussions, love the intensity but like to have all hands on deck when we start. We probably had just as many in our day, but they just slapped you on the butt and gave you some water and put you back in,but after hearing Bernie Kosar do the browns play by play last week, I as a parent glad they error on the side of caution. RRFan I think offensively you might get your wish, but I have only caught the tailend of some practices and saw one 7 on 7, looking at our line I think Luke might have a little time, but have to wait until the scrimmage.
-
Old RiderWe are using some pistol formations and from the little I have seen of practice, it appears we are throwing much more short routes and underneath stuff utilizing the tight end. Receivers seem to have descent hands with Ritchie, Smith, and Coleman. That can change quickly in real-game situations though...."hearing footsteps" can make a good "practice" receiver look bad come gametime. I like what I have seen out of the Hershberger and Domer kid (both frosh). I think they will both play on Friday's.
The biggest question will be our O-D lines...yes we have some good size, but very little experience. Gonna need to give Luke time and that is a concern at this point. If the boys up front can give Luke time, we will move the ball just fine.
Its getting close...Keep working hard! GO RED RIDERS! -
rrfanThat is a couple of very good reports. Thanks Old Rider and Rider Dad. I have a question maybe a parent of a player would know...How is it being determined if it is a concussion? I hope every ding and hard hit is not called a concussion. I understand the importance and agree with being careful with kids, but don't want to go to the far other extreme and every little hit has a kid sitting out. I know it is a fine line so just curious how they are handling this.
