I am not surprised, as long as I can remember other towns in the area have always pulled for us when we are playing well but really seem to enjoy the talk when we are not. Just comes with the territory of being a Red Rider. There are a lot of reasons for this, both earned and not earned but it is what it is. I hope these young men can use this energy to fuel them in the hard games or tough times this season. There are WAY MORE people pulling for this team and community then they will ever know!!!!!Under the radar, just how we had it planned. Looked at JJ huddle for the first time in about 6 months and according to most over there we should play a JV schedule, good bulletin board material
On a secondary note, I saw Mr. Ritchie the other day at the gym and had a brief talk with him. When I told him I no longer lived in the Ville and was in Medina and why, he eagerly offered to give me, my wife and kids a tour of the new school facilities and what Orrville had to offer that my wife may not be aware of. Seems like a SUPER guy that wants people to come to Orrville and raise families! Was a great gesture on his part and really seemed genuine! -

Old RiderCongrats to Bryce Short...I heard that he is now the starting QB at McKinley. Sounds like they moved last years QB to a slot/WR position that better suited him.
No love (as expected) from the coaches, and papers covering the OCC....Orrville picked to finish last. Just more fuel for the fire! -
jacoMartivius is gone? I know he played Jr High in Wooster, but had no idea he left the program, too. I haven't heard his name mentioned in connection with Wooster.

I would love to but until they build an airport a little closer to Orrville I'm kinda out... LOL, it was a great gesture on his part and his passion really showed.Yep....would live to see your kids wearing the Red, White, and Black. C''mon #21...make it happen!!
Its about time for some lunch at Jerry's isn't it Old Rider???? -
sanitizerOn another interesting point, went to a strength clinic this weekend and there were some Orrville boys there, a sophmore and senior linemen, they looked big! On another note there were about 10 norwayne players there as well...

More of a reason Davault has no clue! We sit a potential QB last year that moves on and plays for one of the most storied programs in America! Great job Dougie!!! What did McKinley see that we didn't? If this guy doesn't get a grip there won't be a football program in Orrville in 2 years. New school, new turf, less kids playing football??? Hmmm let me save you 30 more pages of questions? Nobody want to play for a head coach that doesn't have any idea of how to execute on the talent he does have or should I say did have!Old Rider;1482533 wrote:Congrats to Bryce Short...I heard that he is now the starting QB at McKinley. I think Coach D's record speaks for itself. Looking at his year for year record, he's done a pretty good job.Red Rider Nation;1482770 wrote:More of a reason Davault has no clue! Wont be football in 2 years? What an idiotic comment.Red Rider Nation;1482770 wrote:More of a reason Davault has no clue! I counted heads yesterday at practice. 40 kids....that's 9-12. Triway has 35 in 10-12 according to their own coach and they're D-4, we're D-5. Is our participation really that out of line?
I don't remember a season recently where we had more than 10-12 seniors on a team. So we should be in the 40-48 kids every single year. This year we're down near the bottom of that range, but I don't think it's time to sound the alarms about there not being football in 2 years. -

Heard from someone close to Chase Hoobler that said he would run through a brick wall for Doug Davault. Guessing you'd hear that from a lot of current & former players.AllOhio;1483007 wrote:And btw...I had 2 sons that very much loved playing for him. -

Not even an Orrville guy, but this comment is ridiculous. Coach Davault has coached 16 fewer seasons than Mo Tipton (7-23) and 11 fewer seasons than Coach Mac (7-18), and yet has the same number of playoff wins as Coach Tipton and only 5 fewer than Coach Mac. These coaches are worshiped by Orrville faithful, and yet you attack Coach Davault because they had a rough year last year. Could it be that possibly the seniors weren't good leaders, or didn't put the work in that it takes to be successful? Just like in everything else, people point the finger at the easiest target. Didn't Coach Davault make the playoffs with his team the year before, and they got knocked out by the eventual state champs. No shame in that.Red Rider Nation;1482770 wrote:More of a reason Davault has no clue! We sit a potential QB last year that moves on and plays for one of the most storied programs in America! Let's stop with the negativity and simply show support and do your part as a fan and backer of the program. We need to stop teaching our kids to blame someone else when results don't go our way. Instead, let's teach them to put their nose to the grindstone and work even harder. As the adage goes, "be the change you want to see."

Terrible take Red Rider Nation. You assume that Coach D missed something, Maybe McKinley is missing something. Time will tell. I saw nothing from Short that made me think he was "the guy" at any position much less QB. Former players of Coach D all have the same attitude toward him (they would do anything for him) He is doing far more than coaching football to these kids...he is teaching them how to be good people and work hard. Anything he asks them to do he can and usually does do him self. It is nice to see a coach that cares about the kids (not just on the football field) and teach them to work hard through his actions. I like seeing a coach that will hit the weight room as hard as any kid on the team. It is or can be contagious.Red Rider Nation;1482770 wrote:More of a reason Davault has no clue! 5knotsBryce would have started for us this year as well would be my guess. So I don't get your point RRN? I think Bryce is probably a bit more mature physically over the past year as well. I don't think his talent was ever an issue. He has skills. I only got to watch the the Madison game last year so I cannot judge the season, but my guess is that folks wanted the plug pulled at the QB spot and insert Bryce. Tough call given the prior record of the Senior.
I am no football guru, so I cannot speak to X's and O's but I can speak to coach D's leadership skills and we are very fortunate he is our coach. He does waaaay more than the average coach for his players both present and former. My 3 sons would agree with Chase Hoobler's statement. -
FlashFrom what I heard the QB at Mc K was just an athlete and not a QB and they saw a chance to play him at a better suited position with Bryce being able to play QB. Good Luck to Bryce.

Good for Bryce! He is going to a program that will better him!! He deserves that! Why did the other 3 boys transfer to other schools?rrfan;1483081 wrote:Terrible take Red Rider Nation. He didn't start last year for Orrville is my point. He should have been the guy last year but got passed up and now he moves on to a better situation. Good for him!5knots;1483103 wrote:Bryce would have started for us this year as well would be my guess. So I don't get your point RRN?
