losing their dignity , come on that's a little tough .I've seen children from all types of families regardless of income enjoying getting that free candy . you talk about tradition in Orrville . well that's a tradition, the free candy at the parade. I think the only people worried about them losing dignity is the parents. on a serious note I sure hope we get a win on our turf this year. RR1 are there any other teams that we play who are down this year .RedRider1;1456807 wrote:And series, I've never been to the bunny trail....and my kids will never dart in front of cars for free candy...I'd rather them keep their dignity and spend a dollar to buy it at Buehlers.
I've worked the downtown holiday event...it's rarely people that you see patronizing downtown businesses any other day of the year, but give away hot dogs & popcorn & they're all over it. Doesn't help those downtown businesses a lick though.
Need much more "we" & a lot less "me" in society in general right now.
At the end of the day, we'll get the schools we deserve. How sad that we'll have these beautiful new buildings but bare bones services to offer. -
Troll Kingsorry for the double post I'm in my car on the phone trying to do this hit the wrong button.

RedRider1Fair enough TK.
Regarding the schedule...We start with a Cleveland D1 school (if they don't back out) in week 1, other than that, it's the same schedule. I think we get that 1st win, and we're 4 away from 600 in program history. It'd be nice to get that too.
9-1...probably not...but hopefully not another 1-9. -

No I don't! It's not only happening to the teachers. Yes it has been going on for years and with people experiencing pay freezes and salary cuts, where are they supposed to get the "more money" from?rrfan;1456687 wrote:You act like the teachers have not been going through the downsizing and more work load. It has been going on for years in order to try and keep from going to the tax payer for more money.
I agree, it is tired and useless for you to bring it up. I support the teachers, but that doesn't mean I can afford to keep raising my taxes either.RedRider1;1456798 wrote:The tired old stereotype that they get "3 months off" in the summer & work from 8am to 3:30pm every day (never nights or weekends)....and have aides do all their work while they gossip in the lounge. All the while collecting fat pay & Cadillac benefits.
Yeah, well, you have to contribute that to the Republican way of thinking...you know how much they despise union workers! LOL!!! The real irony is that the very people that are causing the school funding issue are the ones many of these same teachers probably elected into office! LOL!!!RedRider1;1456798 wrote:...People see teachers as a group who have had it pretty good and are using this vote as a way to knock them down a peg because they're "successful.".... -

rr1-child: "Dad, why can't I get some candy like the other children?"
rr1: "Because we're not poor and undignified like "those" people!
rr1-child: "But dad, they're having so much fun...I want to have fun too dad, can't I?"
rr1: "No! I bought this candy at Buehlers for $1...you can have that! There'll be no clamoring for candy on my watch!"
rr1-child: "But dad, there's not much here for $1, I can hardly fill my sandwich bag with this...and look, Old Riders kid has a big bag full of the free candy!"
Old Rider: "C'mon rr1, let your kid have some fun and get the candy....YOU DID IT WHEN YOU WERE A KID!!!
rr1: Yeah but....
rr1-child: "See dad, you did it when you were a kid, it is a tradition in Orrville isn't it...I'd rather get the candy then hang a dummy in the town square dad! Stop being a "stick in the mud" dad!
rr1: No...Series62 might see me...oh the shame!!!
Series62: Let the child play rr1...LOL! It can help him to learn how to go after a fumbled football!!
Bare bones services in those beautiful new buildings...stop exaggerating, you know that's not going to happen! -

rrfan...REALLY?!!! Can you really say that with him NOT receiving a real and fair opportunity!rrfan;1456684 wrote:Thank god that McK has a weight room...I sure wish Orrville did! Short got a fair shot at QB last year and he was not very good. If he is "a running QB" he would not have made it through a single game without getting hurt. I wish him luck at McK because he will need it to see any time.

I feel he had a "real and fair opportunity" Tell me how he did not? He went to practice everyday, you don't think that if he shined there he would play? When he was in game situations on Friday Nights what did he do that made you say "he is the guy" I am not in practice so I can't answer that side but as for Friday I saw nothing that made me think oh man we have to get the 125lbs QB on the field...Series62;1457150 wrote:rrfan...REALLY?!!! He did not because I and others I have spoken with felt that as a sophomore qb, he should have been given the opportunity to learn the system, by playing as the primary, win or lose. The intent is to learn the system and the plays.rrfan;1457172 wrote:I feel he had a "real and fair opportunity" Tell me how he did not? Did Lichti "shine" during practice? How can you say that Short was given ample opportunity to "shine" during practice. We saw what did Lichti in game situations on Friday nights that it became obvious, its time to start prepping the next qb! Lichti showed no marked improvements for his experience.
They put Short in on 1st and 10 on their own 3 yard line, or 3rd and long deep in your territory, late in the game and down, those were many of the game situations when he played qb, so of course you didn't see much.
His weight didn't hamper his ability to play. -
sanitizerAfter reading these posts and giving it some serious thought....... I STILL LOVE CANDY!
With the offense that Orrville has established the QB spot sure seems pretty important. I didn't make many games last year but from what you guys were saying we could have run the ball a little more. You guys hear if a little more run is in the cards this year? Do we have any kids who could handle 15 runs a game? I just remember after basketball and track were over it was time to put in work for football season. When to they start 7 on 7's? -
RedRider1Series is speaking "in jest" again I'm sure so I'll just ignore it since he's not being genuine...only joking right big fella?
In other news, it's now official..we're a division 5 football school. -

Why should he have been "given the opportunity...learn system...win or loose"? Seriously if the coaching staff thought he gave them any better chance to win they would not have played him? Come on you claim all the time how smart you are...he was not a better option. I am really tired of all this run talk on her too. Look at your line and tell me you want to line up and win the battle in the trenches. Look at the team and play to what you have. Last year you did not have much. I would have loved to see Short get the ball more in space as a slot. However, I also saw times where they did that and he went nowhere or dropped the ball.Series62;1457181 wrote:He did not because I and others I have spoken with felt that as a sophomore qb, he should have been given the opportunity to learn the system, by playing as the primary, win or lose. RedRider1For Bryce, it was always about his size. He just couldn't put any zip on the ball....and changing from a pass attack to an option attack just wasn't going to happen. That's asking a lot for kids to learn a brand new system mid stream...we had enough trouble executing the system we had in place, much less adding new plays.
I really hope Bryce hits a growth spurt & can contribute over at McK.
More news of the day: we've been placed in the NW Ohio region of D5 along with the other 4 Wayne Co teams. Any playoff run by any of the 5 will mean longer travel times. -
CCRollyLooks like Wooster, Ashland, and Mansfield Sr. will be lumped into the Central/Columbus Region again in DII. Which totally sets up that Avon Lake/Wooster meeting in the Final Four or State Championship....

I'm also not with or against you, RedRider1, Series62 or anybody else.
Times are tough and the voters have spoken twice. The majority of the citizens don't wish to shoulder a heavier burden at this time. I respect that, it's democracy in action. -

Really??? You beat Orrville one time in the last decade and now we should mirror our program around yours? As soon as Wooster wins a playoff game come talk to me because it won't happen in your lifetime! That program underachieves at everything! You used to run your mouth about McCreery but obviously there were more issues than that. I am sure Devault and his staff are over at Wooster right now benchmarking to see how they can get betterCCRolly;1457648 wrote:Try to win 2 games next year and then we'll chat... -
CCRollySorry to cause you to get your panties in a bunch. Not my fault your program is where it is. Also, I'd like to see Orrville win against any of the Division I playoff teams we lost to recently, that went on to win the Region those years. Not to mention....I've already witnessed Wooster football playoff wins in my lifetime....so nice fail there also. Aren't you one of the guys that swore Devault was the problem with your team last year. Yeah, he's a terrible coach....so you OBVIOUSLY know what you're talking about.
-
unc4lifeI love how CCRolly comes on here and makes a joke and one of Orrville's finest takes it serious. Wow. People wonder why things are going down hill in town, maybe because you have to many people like RR Nation living in the past not looking to the future.

Its nice how you try to find a knock against our program by saying "I would like to see Orrville win against any of those D1 teams you lost to." We have no business beating ANY D1 teams or D2 teams for that matter...but we have done it for years against Wooster!! Orrville could drop their football program for the next 50 years and Wooster would still not catch us in playoff appearances and wins.CCRolly;1457870 wrote:Sorry to cause you to get your panties in a bunch. Old Rider...stay out of this. My post was directed towards the lesser bright Red Rider faithful who couldn't comprehend I was joking in my post.Old Rider;1457934 wrote:Its nice how you try to find a knock against our program by saying "I would like to see Orrville win against any of those D1 teams you lost to." If we have to talk about the Riders of your playing days we can....again. Yay, you won more games at Follis your senior year than Wooster did. We also beat you the year before that. And you lucked out the year before that when our punter dropped the snap. Oh and you guys buried the worst team in Wooster history (0-10) by a commanding 24-23 score. OK....your high school years are covered, right?
But you can't have it both ways....if you beat us, it's because we're a terrible D1/D2 team. But if we beat you....well, that should've happened. After the next 5-10 years of playing us, you may be looking to replacing us with powerhouse opponents like Cleveland Lincoln West.
