Akron University should care...LOLHavin Fun;1504431 wrote:There are some good games this week in the league. Actually with the exception of the Norwayne Rittman game, the other three games should all be good ones. They are all toss ups in my view except possibly NW who could win easily. Rittman isn't going to win a game in the league so who really cares about how the coaches son does? -
Havin FunI think the Bears should win. They are a bit banged up still. Wonder if Strasbaugh will be ready yet? Hasn't played yet this year and he may be the Bears best player? Smithville did play the best non-conference schedule by far. Opponents are 9-0. I bet this is a close game.

O-TrapHey, if anyone else wants into the pick 'em contest, it's here:
http://grtrack.in/pick_em
Picks have to be submitted by 6:30 each Friday. I'll post about it on the Chatter each week. -
Buckz#1Strausbaugh will be out till possibly next week. More than likely he won't be back till week 6.
-
Havin FunThanks buckz. That is too bad. He would be a huge help on both sides of the ball.

kurty66Any updates or recaps? Norwayne was up on Rittman 42-0 at half and I think they called it due to impending weather. Harris had 3 td catches and jeremy miller ran for 2. Rittman's QB (Ramsier) got hurt early and didn't return. The Akron recruit had one catch for one yard that I remember. He got nicked in the second quarter and didn't return.
-
Havin FunWaynedale had an easy time with Smithville. 30-0 at half and it should have been worse. A fumble at the four yard line and a second missed TD or it would have been 42 or 44 zip at half.
Any update in NW Chippewa? That was 7-7 last i heard at half.
Hillsdale shreds Dalton like 42-6?? -

Man, the Smithies scored 13 in the 2nd half. We must have been out-coached after the half.....Havin Fun;1504570 wrote:Waynedale had an easy time with Smithville. 30-0 at half and it should have been worse. beverboy1dalton beats themself up 41-7 ! had one td called back ( yellow flag ) and alot of them ! we had a fumble at hillsdale 10 , int at hillsdale 4 !! we can drive the ball down field ,but we just can't finish !! you not going to win very many gms playing that way !

Slick RickMr D-1 looked horrible. Returned 2 kickoffs for negative yards unless u want to say running side to side counts. Never seen anyone run for the sidelines like he does. Thought the point of a return is to go forward. He also took numerous hits which was great. Norwayne did a great job covering him all night. For being a D-1 recruit and not being able to get open and run any proper routes is terrible. He also got burned several times on the long ball as well as the other kid Endress. Rittman is in a world of hurt now their QB is hurt. The kid that came in last night did ok but man he was scared and looked like a deer in the headlights. Could we see the return of Mr D-1 at that position?

1_beastCyber bullying a frickin kid....smh. The kid got a D-1 Scholly...Congrats. Now why don't everyone get off his jock. HE'S A KID!

What's your point. All you have been doing is trying to stir the pot. YOU are a big reason noone posts here anymore....except Norwayne chest thumpers, with their gaudy 172-256)?)wcalfan;1504602 wrote:Man, the Smithies scored 13 in the 2nd half. We must have been out-coached after the half.....
career record. lol -

Haha - great point. I cannot believe Zuercher did not have his freshman better ready to handle the Smithie starters late in the fourth Q. He needs to go!wcalfan;1504602 wrote:Man, the Smithies scored 13 in the 2nd half. We must have been out-coached after the half.....
Most of the haters from last year just did not want to accept that thier kids couldnt play football. They are gone now and this group of a few seniors who are talented and a load of Sophomores is going to have some success. I still think we are looking at something close to 6-4 or 7-3 but with the youth on the team, I will take that any day.
It was great to see the stands packed and people excited for Bears football again! -
Havin FunAs for the Rittman kid, I agree. Someone did give him a scholarship which should be praised. Anytime a kid can go to school because of athletics is an accomplishment. Is he a D1 receiver? From what I have seen he would not make the rooster at the College of Wooster. But Akron did offer him so whether it is a payback or whatever, he did get the money and that is all that matters.
Bottom line is Rittman and Smithville are going to be playing to see who goes 1-9 instead of 0-10. At this point, I would say Smithville wins this game fairly easily. For a while Smithville used #1 as the QB and he was much more of a weapon than #3 who struggled to throw an accurate pass. If I was Smithville I would go about 90% to the run. JMO -
1486wdvery frustrating for the bulldogs - I think they had 4 fumbles, 3 ints and 12 penalties for over 100 yards. At least two turnovers inside the ten. You don't very often have 300 yards of offense and score 7 points. Bulldogs were also missing a couple corners which hurt them at times. Hillsdale is definitely the better team, but I am sure they would tell you they had to work for this one, even if the score didn't look like it. Dalton is simply going to have to clean up the drive killing penalties that have been happening with regularity as well as the red zone turnovers. They have shown they can throw on most anyone, they just need to be smart with the football. It doesn't get any easier next week with the huskies.

2_beastDear wcalfan,
I will have to finally admit that you know more about football than I do. I should not have dismissed you so lightly. Please accept my apology. -

I went to watch this game and could not see any resemblance of a D1 football player wearing a white jersey. Did see one in red. #5 in white could not make it at the lowest D3 school. Who ever offered him needs to have his creditability questioned because he clearly does not know talent. The best player for Rittman got hurt in #11. Norwayne QB did a nice job getting the ball to his play makers. 42-0 at the half and it could have been more. Rittman is a far cry from any type of a team period. Poorly coached, more kids wanting to leave and one man at the helm who clearly does not understand how to run a program. Rittman is on hard times and no sign of coming out of it. I feel bad for the kids and fans.Slick Rick;1504620 wrote:Mr D-1 looked horrible. Returned 2 kickoffs for negative yards unless u want to say running side to side counts. pdracerThe Chippewa/Rittman game should be fun to watch! Rittman is missing there starting RB and now the starting QB, and from what I hear, the all mighty has moved the top receiver into the QB spot. Lets just hope the new QB realizes that they're other kids on the field that can catch the ball and doesn't just aim for one person.
Go Browns, I mean Indians. -

I too was at the game. The Rittman parents need to have a meeting to address the issue of it being all about 1 player. Last time I checked the definition of team is:Birddog;1505028 wrote:I went to watch this game and could not see any resemblance of a D1 football player wearing a white jersey. n.1. a number of persons forming one of the sides in a game or contest: (not one player)
2. a number of persons associated in some joint action: (again not one player)
It is clear that the coach does not care about a winning program but promoting his son. And before anyone attacks me, I understand there are some people who are jealous of this opportunity the Dennis kid has been given. I think there would be less animosity if the arrogance was thrown in everyone's face and then when the kids stand up for themselves they are the ones who are punished.
-
pdracerNever happen. To many parents who kiss the ground that the chosen one walks on in hopes that someday he will give his blessing on their kid! Until the TEAM stands together, things will never change. Time to get my blue Jersey out, this week is going to be just as ugly as last week.

kurty66I just saw on ESPN that Bobcat receiver Trent Davis' one-handed TD catch against Rittman made the top plays (#7). Giambi's walk off HR was #2.
