Just read the article. It is starting to get exciting around here, and this is why I wanted Haas from the get-go. I do think he has found a home here, and it sounds like the players have bought into his system, AND the community is behind the program again.

I agree, I like what he is doing to generate some excitement among the players and the community. Looking forward to the season. The article mentions the AD is working on a booster organization specifically for Football. That has not happened at Wooster in many years.
  • THE4RINGZ
I like the idea of a sport specific booster club, especially for football which should be the sport that generates the most revenue.

I was actually out and about yesterday and talked to one of the guys that is involved in the booster organization. It sounds like a win-win for all involved.
  • RedRider1
Great start by Haas...get the community behind Wooster football again. We've got a busy summer ahead with turf coming to our field...no reason Wooster couldn't do the same with the business & alumni base you have over there.

Enjoy the time he is at Wooster. My guess is if your lucky he will only be there 3 years at the most. Always looking for something better. The Pete Carroll of High School football.

In all those moves, there was one constant, he continued to live in Wooster. I could be wrong but I think this is a job he had been hoping for, in the town where he lives. If I am not mistaken, his wife is a Wooster Alum?
  • THE4RINGZ
Yes his wife is a Wooster alum. I believe he has made a personal committment to stay here, he lives here and his kids attend Wooster City Schools, a couple of differences from his last jobs. I will make this point again, even if Haas only sticks around 3-5 years his track record shows he leaves a program in much better shape than when he inherited the program. That is a win for Wooster.
  • CCRolly
Agreed. Even if Haas only sticks around for 3 years, Wooster will be better off than having stuck with the downward spiral of the McCreary regime.

Are you going to the practice tonight CC?
  • CCRolly
I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it or not yet. Have a work 'celebration' at The Winking Lizard that I'm considering participating in!

No doubt things should be better than they were.

But....Wooster kids are different than any other group of kids I've ever been around. Their parents are different also. Sports in Wooster are purely recreational. Sporting events are a place to be seen, to socialize and gossip. To name drop and move up the perceived social ladder that exist in this town. Winning isn't important...and that attitude has passed down a couple generations now.

It will take a long time to change this town.
  • CCRolly
iced earth - unfortunately, I'm going to have to agree with most everything you said.

Maybe the speech/debate coach can give all the sports teams a little pep talk. Could only help

That speech would be well worded and gramatically correct.

Lord knows we don't need any extra help when it comes to beating the Knights in football as it is.
  • THE4RINGZ
Nice turn out tonight at the practice. Love seeing the community support, maybe the Generals have turned the corner.

    Amen to that
  • Mr. 300
But you do need help in beating D1 schools in anything tournament related.

Would be nice. A school that size and can't compete at all against schools their size is sad.

    Can't disagree with this.
