Good question. I know Haas has a couple little boys in grade school.
Oh, what a sad state Wayne County football has become this year... -
CCRollyIt's pretty simple for Wooster, if you can't stop the run, you aren't going to win another game all year.
-
scarface1Same thing said last year after we lost to Madison and the boys came back and beat Clear Fork and they beat West Holmes also, dont know if that will happen this year but I guess we will see if Haas can get them going last half of year. McCreary has children dont think they are in school yet.

It won't be popular, but I won't be shocked if there are some personnel changes. If I was starting on a defense that surrendered 550 yards on the ground, I'd be looking over my shoulder.CCRolly;1280182 wrote:It's pretty simple for Wooster, if you can't stop the run, you aren't going to win another game all year. -
scarface1Why would there be changes this week they didnt change anything after we surrendered al those passing yards to chagrin falls.
-
scarface1No wonder Wooster can't stop the run we can't even have a home coming parade because of rain WOW.
-
gowooGood luck tonight Generals, let's keep the momentum going.
-
thePITmanGood luck, Wooster!
-
CCRollyGood luck to the Generals tonight. Need the defense to continue to show up. Go Woo!

scarface1We are still really soft on defense this year. I know its not the popular opinion out there and i think Haas will probably do fine in the future but our fundementals are no better this year than they have been in years. From what i have seen at the junior high level if we dont get better coaching at that level get ready for a lot more of this Wooster. last year we all thought a different coach would make big difference with talent we had I guess we were all wrong. Lexington does not have more talent than us but they are a better TEAM.

No personel changes at all. They dont even switch kids out when they keep repeating the same mistakes during the game. I think the new guys are in love with the couple athletes they have here and forget that this is a team game. Like i said think he is good for program but if this staff doesnt start improving our fundementals I.E. BLOCKING and TACKLING we are never going to get any better. -
scarface1Next week could be ugly. Senior has the speed to keep up with our two guys and they have more athletes all over the field. We have very little running game and look what Garfield did with speed on defense, this may not be a good couple weeks for Woo town Going into Orrville game with two wins is a real possibility. YIKES
-
jacoWooster's offense can score with anyone, but the turnovers and defensive effort are simply awful. At some point you need to hold kids accountable for fumbles. And the defense..yikes. Charmin soft. And yet Haas keeps trotting the same kids out there expecting different results. Good luck with that. I'm on the verge of thinking that Wooster's athletic program is unfixable. And now I'm hearing from the kids that an 8th grade linebacker was suspended for the rest of the season by the A.D. for being too aggressive on defense.
-
scarface1Wooster made a few changes on defense this week up front. It did not change results any and they dont rotate kids in at all. They also started a kid at defesive back who didnt even go through summer camp or two a days and started the season during the third week. Was no better than the rest he got beat for score just like the rest. Something with attitude on that side of ball has to change.
-
CCRollyDidn't the Jr. High kid get ejected from a game? Also, I did hear it was an absolutely TERRIBLE call by the official at West Holmes I believe. Getting back to the High School Generals. I think it's plain and simple guys....we don't have hardly anyone that wants to step in and make a tackle. I think most of these kids were brought up through the system and didn't learn how to tackle properly or just don't care. It's pretty sad that you're averaging the amount of points we are on offense and haven't won but two games. I wouldn't be shocked if we don't win again all year...and I know Orrville is down. But you know they'll at least show up and play physical with us. Will we? Can the Defense actually stop another team again this year?

frustrated fanI agree that we probably won't win another game, sad! But I feel that the coaches need to swallow some pride and step up and make changes. Were's the speed on defense? How come we aren't putting the 2 fastest kids in on some defensive plays? I think it has been proven that we need it. We might even get a few more interceptions if they are in. Just my opinion. What's up with the receiver who continues to have a poor attitude and is hurt every time a play doesn't go his way?? How come he continues to get the ball?? What about telling these kids hard work and a good attitude, all the time, pays off!?Also, whats wrong with taking the ball down the field 5-10 yards at a time? Does it always have to be a long pass every 3rd down? Why does the running back get taken out when the run works?? How about we continue to run? This coach came in and told the boys to "buy into the system", well the system isn't working so do we change the system or can we have our $ back??

Agree with you, perfect example is they started a kid on defense last week that didnt do any offseason workouts or two a days. I know of more than one kid who was at every workout all two a days that was questioning what is going on. Things have not changed as much as we all thought. I warned everyone last year that things wouldnt change much with new coach because we have same group of kids as last and a lot, not all,are all about me and not about team.frustrated fan;1290598 wrote:I agree that we probably won't win another game, sad! frustrated fanI thought there would be more house cleaning staff wise with a new coach, I guess not?! I just wish it would have been more of a fresh start. I know that some of the boys can be an issue, but the right coaching staff should be able to get the boys under control. Sit them out if they aren't being a team player, rewarding bad behavior won't change it!!

This coach and his offensive coordinator are in love with the athletes on this team no matter the attitude. We need to find football players in Wooster not just athletes until this happens nothing is going to change. Our defensive line has one player on it, that is where we are getting killed on defense. That is where they need to start with the change.frustrated fan;1290640 wrote:I thought there would be more house cleaning staff wise with a new coach, I guess not?! Still feel this way???CCRolly;1110009 wrote:Hallelujah Ringz! It was getting a little tiring holding down the Wooster fort for so long there. Glad to hear Haas is taking the time to visit Edgewood and so on. Excited about the week-long camp news also. It's the dawning of a new era of Wooster football... -
CCRollyI do feel that you've reached the dawning of a new era in Red Rider football. Can the Riders go 0-for-the year on their new turf field?
As for the question, yeah, I do feel there is still promise. Have to weed out (to graduation) the kids who refuse to change and play the game the right way. Would be interesting to see if Woo runs the score up on Orrville if they get the chance.
