2012 Wayne County Athletic League Football

  Jared Orr is a very capable ATHLETE. If he is still playing on the line this week then it will clearly look like he isn't but trust me... the kid works harder than any other kid. Has speed. Has agility. Has strength (for his size... not enough to be successful on the o line) Has the biggest gas tank I've ever seen on a kid. I feel he would be in the conversation as a top ATHLETE between these two teams.
  
  I've already stated that the Antjuan kid is about as as fast bates. Bates is the better athlete at this stage though. Antjuan's potential is way higher than bates but he isn't there yet. He is young. His name hasn't been thrown around as much as others. Trust me. The kid is oozing athletic ability. People will know him by years end and if he dedicates himself.... WATCH OUT!
  
  Keeping with the young guys... I'll take Reid Stanley over any of the soph's Smithville has. Just wait... That kid has the potential to be one of the best the area has ever seen in wrestling and from the bit I've seen him play... If used properly... football as well. He has tremendous work ethic and I expect to see him grow tremendously in the next couple years. He will be a very good athlete.
  
  Wren Weaver is also a fine athlete. I'd put him into the same category as the others you have listed. Kid can move. Fairly sharp all the way around. I'd imagine that he would be highly competitive with the bottom three kids you mentioned.
  
  Strasbaugh is a very well rounded athlete as well. He's in the upper tier of those listed.
  
  Those are the names I can think of off the top of my head. I'm sure I'm leaving out a few guys. I haven't had the ability to follow the football team as much as I'd like to. Just a few games and past history.
  
  
  I'll leave you with this thought... Football isn't about athletes. Athletes are just that... athletes. They can do a lot of things, but that doens't mean they are football players. It takes more than one great athlete (bates) to win a football game. There is much more that goes into a win besides talent and ability. Those other reasons are why Smithville should win this game. They have more FOOTBALL PLAYERS. I think they are a better team at this point. It is those other things like game plan, execution, unity, and a desire to correct mistakes that has cost the bears this year. Smithville is ahead in those areas.... o... and where it really counts in high school football.... THE O/D LINES. Waynedale lacks those areas and without those.... You've got a lot of trouble doing things.

  Jared Orr? Really? If he is in the "athlete" conversation then the Bears don't have a chance. He isn't even in the top 10 athletes on the Waynedale team.

  Yes I will defend Jared Orr in a heartbeat. Kid was a district qualifier as a sophomore where he won a match I believe. (NOT EASY TO DO) Didn't make it to districts this year... or even sectionals because he couldn't beat a runner up or a state champion. Wasn't allowed to drop anymore weight and was too light to wrestle up past Beam.
  
  The kid IS A MACHINE when it comes to distance running. Can go for days. Has an unbelievable gas tank. Seriously... come to a wrestling match.... kid is never tired. Even when he is in a grueling match. He does have some speed. Is it on the level of the others mentioned... no... but he is not slow.
  
  He is as strong as an Ox as well. Have seen him lift. For a 145 lbs kid... does a lot of weight in all areas. Also like I mentioned above. He doesn't belong on the O line. They had no choice but to use him there because.... he is too valuable of an athlete to not play...
  
  Lastly, although it isn't what might qualify as an athletic characteristic.... the dude has major heart and is one hard nosed S.O.B. He is a grinder and makes the other guy's life miserable in a competition.
  
  Who would you put ahead of him besides the guys I've already mentioned.... O... Wait... I don't care... you've proven numerous times on here that you lack common sense. Besides... don't try to list other kids because I refuse to put down a KID on here like you've just chosen to do. You clearly don't know how to be civil when dealing with kids... let alone adults... (COUGH COUGH ARRANGING MEETINGS WITH COACHES AND NON PARENTS OVER INTERNET TALK COUGH COUGH)

  I never once questioned his heart and attitude. There is a reason he was voted team captain. Do you know what his 40 time is? Take a guess. I think you will be quite surprised. Distance running is great and is something I could never do, but it doesn't help a whole lot on a football field.
  
  Jmar simply stated that he is the best athlete on the team and I disagree with him completely. Both Stanley boys, both Strausbaugh boys, Weaver, Antwan are all better athletes without question. Then you would lump Orr, McPhern, Milner and Drew Lester in the next group. You tell me how you would rank that second group. If we are strictly talking athletic ability then the list is pretty easy.

  First... I considered how you stated it... a pot shot... at a kid... There are better ways to say what you said. Putting Athlete in quotations = pot shot. Then to use the phrase that if he is considered an athlete they don't have a chance = pot shot. The top 10 thing... alright... that's fine I can live with that if that's how you feel.

  I didn't say he is the top. I said he would be in the conversation of being labeled a top athlete between two teams.
  
  As for the latest statement... Ummm I bet he runs a 4.6... You're right...conditioning has nothing to do with football. Fat slobs are the best players... I would agree with adding the 2nd Strausbaugh. Also adding Drew Lester. I forgot about him. Then Orr, McPhern and Milner.

  My point here is...the dynamic has changed. Lets move on with who's left and you'll continue to snipe at me and I'll continue to point out what a narrow minded 2 topic homer you are.

  Nothing in the WCAL looks really good this week. The OCC is much more interesting.....Ashland/Wooster and WH/Madison.
  
  I think the WCAL is still....
  Norwayne and Hillsdale being the contenders.
  Northwestern still has much to prove.
  Smithville also has much to prove
  Dalton is still too young
  Waynedale can't score
  and Rittman & Chippewa are not looking better.

  i have learned a few things on this site. i wont get into the details of them but one is that everyone in the county runs a 4.6 :huh:....... just stating what i have been told so dont be toooooo excited about that.
