Ive been saying this all year long. Why in Week 8 are we still talking about it? Why are we not working with the kid to get better or replacing him in that position?

Honestly what has this team done that makes any of you think they will win another game? Thats a serious question. The last 6 weeks this team hasnt even been competitive in a game. Its not like we are losing by a point or two. I do not see this team getting any better as the season progresses. A tough schedule? Yes it is however I am not sure this team could beat Waynedale or Chippewa at this point. Does it actually bother the kids playing the game??? Another serious question!

Tough questions to answer and I sure don't have the answers. In the old days on a bad year I would say we would still crush a WCAL team by 40 pts. I can not say that anymore and it makes me sad to say.

If the kid is to tired to snap the ball then get the heck out of the game.

The great thing about the Wooster-Orrville game or Orrville-Wooster, however you prefer to refer to the game is that nothing really matters until it comes down to that night. Whichever team comes in with an attitude and is ready to play football will win. Nothing that happened before or on paper makes much of a difference
    TOTALLY AGREE!!!

Don't WANT to agree but looks like things are tough this year!

I would REALLY like to be a fly on the wall at some of these practices.

    Go big red!

Bingo! You are starting to getting it!!!

One can understand that perhaps the coach has come to the reality that a losing season is indeed a fact. However, shouldn't he at least try to build some experience and knowledge for next years players by practicing the next generation, by slightly modifying his playbook?

Yes, you will bench some starters and/or seniors, however, (teaching moment), they must surely learn that in life, there will certainly come a time when your position will be challenged and or lost when your effectiveness, experience and leadership is non-productive.
  • rrfan
Series- who are you benching and for who? It is not like I see kids standing on the sideline that should be on the field. If you are strictly talking about the QB position then how do you know they are not preparing for next years QB? From what I hear there is a freshman QB that is playing JV maybe that is the decision.

Yeah, however I wish he would have pulled the plug on a few of the starters about 4 games ago! Were going to take it on the chin regardless so we may as well put the younger guys in!

solid post and I would agree at this point of the season.

Guys who are we putting in?

Exactly. Other than Short..who saw half the snaps last Friday, who needs groomed for next year that isn't?

Summers moved off the line & played TE Friday...so there's a change. Would love to see Zook more on offense but he's needed so much on D that the coaches are choosing to use him there. Zook & Summers will both be keys on offense next year so the more they're involved now, the better.

Might not be who any of you have in mind....but there's my 2 cents.

    Eric Bathoon!!!
  • rrfan
The idea was to play Zook on offence this year with defense...then he got hurt week 1. I am glad he is out there at all. So we have seen some changes is that it? We have been talking for weeks about Talent and being rather dry the next few years...So that is what everyone wants is a new QB? That is not the problem right now.
  • OQB
I would like to see them use Zook in the slot or "H" position.....use Dyson and Inman in the backfield with Short and run mis-direction and option plays with where these three guys can get in open space and create big plays with their speed and agility. Mix some easy rollout passes with Short giving him 1 guy to read and if the pass isn't there, take off and run, or run some easy screen plays.
  • Old Rider
Well...if Davault decides to stay with the spread next season:thumbdown:...then he needs to start giving L. Smith some snaps (frosh). He seems to be more of a pocket passer, but his running ability is not that of Short. I like Bryce at a slot or WR...

Move Zook to wideout...we will be thin there next year. Give him looks now.

Summers...either TE or fullback to lead block for Dyson and Inman.

Palmer...Wideout/fullback. He needs to touch the ball on offense.

Thats my thoughts, however thats why I am not coaching!

From what I have seen (limited) and heard this seems to make some sense. If we don't have the goods to run the spread we may need to change it up. We should probably go back to some "open right, barrel, 50, cover one"! LOL, Given your thoughts on position changes that would have made sense my senior year I TOTALLY respect your opinion on positions. Just because your not a coach does not mean you don't make sense!!!

It will be interesting to see what the coaching staff does this offseason.

"Shade right, double barrel, go, cover 1" bring the house baby!

We need to get better up front as well! My brother once told me that one of Mo's favorite sayings when asked how the team would be prior to the start of each season..Mo's response...."No Line, No Good! You can have all the thoroughbreds you want, but with no horses up front to open those gates...they can't go anywhere!"

Recon that's it you guys fixed the team. Can we borrow your field for the playoffs, How many does it seat.

3500-ish. Would be perfect for a week 12 playoff game, IMO.
  • OQB
That was one of the reason we put the turf in.....to host playoff games. It would be great for the county.

Yeah aint that the truth. I saw a few of the lineman from this year working out. They seemed strong and dedicated but SEVERELY undersized! I don't care how strong you are at this level when you have 220 to 250 lb kids (opponents) leaning on 175 to 200 lb kids (Orrville kids) for four quarters it sure makes for a long night!!! I really couldn't believe how small they looked to me. Now believe me I KNOW size isn't everything but WOW!!! Add to that some drops and some penalties and you have some hard work ahead of ya. With all that being said I hope they can put all they have into the end of this season and finish strong! Sometimes no matter how hard you work or want something is just doesn't always work out. It is the journey that makes us stronger and I hope they can learn that. Times like these should make the sweet taste sweeter......tough season for sure!

Old Rider, tell your brother to keep up the hard work - Red Rider faithful are behind them all the way!!!

3500 seats Plus fence, Perfect for County playoff. If this week was playoff we would play Northwestern week 11 means we would have to play them two weeks in roll so week 12 could happy.
