...and 5k follows it up with yet another great post!5knots;1285544 wrote:Start listening to this at the 3:40 mark. Beckman fields a question about his 2 freshman LBs. One from Cleveland St Ignatius and Mason from little old Orrville. The "program" he speaks of is not St Iggys...he is referring to Orrville's program. Now I am not saying we have a better program than St Iggys...I am saying we have a "program" that is respected in the D1 ranks. That doesn't just happen by itself. Takes a lot of sacrifice by many coaches and their families. They love what they do.

5knotsIs there a plaque or trophy. Maybe a D & L pizza coupon?

RedRider1I just said the words "d&l pizza" today. LOL.

Apply that same reasoning to most of us! Then jam your booster club meeting reminders up your...!RedRider1;1284969 wrote:Again, using your logic... I didn't have a kid who played for the former coach, so no need to discuss anything with him.
Was just a fan with an opinion...
So your logic to speak with him is dismissed as useless. -
RedRider1This doesn't support the narrative that some are trying to advance (that its ALL coaching)...but according to Fantastic50, Orrville has the toughest schedule in all of d-4.
Doesn't change 1-5, but we're losing to good teams. 5 playoff teams on our schedule if playoffs started today.

BRFRepost from Pitman:
Triway (5-1)
Copley (4-2)
Lexington (4-2)
Mansfield Senior (5-1)
West Holmes (6-0)
Pretty impressive and bad luck for us.

What logic has rr-1 given! To say why he didn't meet with Coach Short which is basically the same why I/we don't need to meet with Davault!rrfan;1285086 wrote:Series can't take his own medicine. I love it. He has no logic and redrider1 is eating his lunch. The "other coach" appearing on this thread had tons of talent and spoiled it. Coach Davault right now has basically no talent. That is the difference. Let me add !!!***** ****!!! so series knows I mean business. Lol.
His logic is filled with hipocrisy and double-talk!
That coach Davault "has no talent" obviously reveals how good a coach he really is! -

I know it's tough to have to live by the rules you yourself made.
"If you don't address the coach face to face, you have zero credibility to post concerns on a message board."
Your rule, not mine.
Toss all the insults & language at me that you want (not very becoming), but I'm more interested in productive discussion.
If you have to resort to swearing to make your point, you're doing it wrong. Makes you look immature. -

Was it a rule or a suggestion? I believe that statement came from you during the previous football season. I brought it back to your attention when you began your tirade against the basketball coach. And as I said before, I did address the coach face to face.

You haven't provided any productive discussion. Your conversation is always against Red Rider Nation, Troll King and myself, however when Old Rider and a some of the other posters agree with our comments, you cease to post your disagreement and attempt to change the subject. Those aren't insults, those are descriptions of the attributes of you!

Did I swear, I simply left out the place where you need to interject your reminder! -

Ask rr-1 and rrfan. You didn't read rr-1 questioning or stating how wrong rrfan is do you!5knots;1285646 wrote:Depends on which kid you are talking about -

Red RiderI'll just put this out here, I do not have a kid on the team. I have 2 kids at OHS that play other sports. I have no special ties with any of the coaches, but I know many of them and respect what they do. I also know the frustrations of wanting to win and wanting the best players on the field/court. I also am a believer that being the "best" means being a solid individual as well and not a cancer.
A couple years ago I was just as angry as some posters about a situation in another sport. I was venting to a retired coach from another district about many of the same things being discussed here, as I knew the team was under performing and I believed kids were playing because of their dads relationship/influence with the coach. He said I was most likely right, but left me with this cold, hard fact he had gleaned from 20 years of coaching.
"You can coach to win or you can coach to keep (important) people happy, but you will never be able to do both. At a public school, you have the decision to make if you want to keep your job as a coach at the start of every season. Do you have the talent to win this year, or are you going to have to do your best just to keep a few key people happy."
It doesn't make it easy and it doesn't make it right, but it is the real world. As the old saying goes, the 2 greatest coaches in any program are the last one and the next one. -
Red Rider NationMy mom read to me the comments Doug Davault made after the game Friday. Lets just say he himself is blaming his lack of head coaching as our problem. He says the product HE is putting out on the field is embarrasing. I give the guy a lot of credit. At least he is looking at himself in the mirror and admitting the lack of coaching. He says he needs to coach better. Again i really do give him credit for putting it on his own shoulders instead of the so called "Orrville" faithful on here blaming it on the lack of talent! I thought the kids read this site??? If so stop blaming them because you contradict yourselves all the time! It has become laughable the people on here that say watch what you post as the kids read it then talk about how they have no talent! UNREAL!!! At least Coach Davault put it on his shoulders and I respect the guy for that. He will NOT blame these kids and that is a great move by him!

it's obvious that those other posters you refer to are his friends. that's why they can say things without rebuttal from him. I have noticed that as well , when people agree with us he does seem to change the subject or lets them off the hook. like I said before we're just not in their click.Series62;1285647 wrote:Above rr-1 -
Red RiderWe've allowed 189 points in 6 games. That is an average of 31 pts a game. The lowest point total was 20 in our only win. When you start a game knowing you gotta put up 30 to have a chance to win it ain't just 1 or 2 players.
What's a coach to do? Of course he's going to shield the players. Let's hold a team under 20 points one time this year and then we can discuss coaching mistakes. Defense wins games. -

There're buddies from the same good old boy club . As long as one of them speaks their opinion it's okay it's a mistake when one of us three speak ours.Series62;1285650 wrote:Ask rr-1 and rrfan. You didn't read rr-1 questioning or stating how wrong rrfan is do you! -

Hell I get shunned on here for speaking my opinion and never playing the game however at least one person on here was on my high school GOLF team! -

I thought you might like that.RedRider1;1285774 wrote:Good old boy club. LOL. That's rich. -
RedRider1You innocently call it speaking your opinion, but it's more than that. You dog the coach and anyone that dare support the program.
Your ego has taken a serious hit because you can't deal with the fact that your alma mater has had some bad losses lately and you can't puff your chest out over there in Jackson. You took some grief from guys you work with and you're coping by projecting that back toward the head coach.
And yeah...we golfed together. You're we're a blow hard then & not much has changed.
That's why I respect other posters on this site that played the game. I'll defer to their opinion every single day...and anyone that has played for the program wouldn't run it down the way you and others (who also didn't play or are an alum) have done.
And you're writing a book about the Orrville Football Tradition?
