Orrville Red Rider Football 2012

  • RedRider1
Perhaps it's lack of participation beyond what's minimally required that is resulting in the young men standing on the sidelines on Friday nights?
  • Series62
Perhaps it is. And perhaps the atitude is, if I'm not going to play, why do I need to be at practice to learn a play I'm never going to execute?
  • rrfan
zeez I think most of us know what the majority are doing, it is just a shame that a few can ruin so much. I have herd how hard working this team is. Is there any possibility this was not on purpose and there was some error in communication? 6 players missing is a big big deal. I am very confused about this right now.
  • rrfan
series a person with that attitude would not be welcome on the team. Those people are poison to a locker room and a team. Get them out of there.

But its a good thing then to give them keys to a car. That does not make sense and smacks of an excuse!
zeez sport;1262828 wrote:...stop bashing the kids and coaches...
Tell me something, did anyone lie on the players or coaches? Perhaps in an emotional way they've spoken there opinion, is that any different than how many of the Orrville contingent described the former Wooster football coach and some of their past players? Why were you bashing him?

Isn't a players attitude a reflection of leadership?
  • rrfan
not always. Sometimes a bad attitude is just that a bad attitude.
  • Series62
Yes, that always the case isn't it? LOLOLOLOL!!!
  • rrfan
Not sure why that is funny to you series. You don't believe that? You don't think a bad attitude on a kid can just happen? Remember I don't always agree with coaching either, but tell me how this is a coaching problem. Maybe the coach will boot these kids or sit them or run them or a combination of all. I don't know all the information on what took place. So please tell me what you mean.
  • RedRider1
This is such a dumb arguement.

The same kind of people will blame the teacher when their kid gets a bad grade. All the teachers fault...yet the kid didn't do any homework and never asked for extra help.

Same thing here. Kid doesn't show up for practice and it's the coaches fault? Kid doesnt play and it's the coaches fault? Kid doesnt show up for offseason activities and it's the coaches fault? LOL. totally expected response. Always someone else to blame.

What's funny is that your assumption seems to be that it is and can only be the player and never the coaches because of the high regard you hold for the coach/es. There are many reasons that it could be the coach/coaches that caused the poor attitude also.

Perhaps you should talk to the person that posted their lack of presence at practice, they might have the "inside" scoop.

I believe the discipline will be whatever he chooses to issue to the two-way player, if it's uneven, (UNFAIR), he might have some defections.

Whatever took place For those that aren't going to see any playing time, and you can't encourage them perhaps he should cut them.

Apparently, you say it's always the players fault as the coaches can do no wrong. (Smacks of ***-kissing!)

I didn't blame anyone! I won't, however say it's automatically the players fault either! If you know share it or don't post it any of it at all.

IF its such a dumb argument, stay your "smart" *** out of it!

Oh yeah, mr. "lesson in spelling", it's spelled, "argument".

How many times are you going to edit that post? LOL.

All I know is players missed practice. 30+ players managed to make it. Those that didn't will be dealt with...sounds like they already have. Open & shut case. Only you are making more of it than need be....but that's typical.

I don't have the patience to go back thru all these posts. I'm sure I know the gist of what was said. Losing is never fun and all the second guessing occurs. It's just the way it is. And I was not able to see the game. My thoughts for what it's worth:

I never agreed with the play calling when we lost. what a big surprise....duh! I do not know if coach D is the best coach in the world..I do know this...
    A. he does things right and by that I mean he asks of his team and his staff and himself commitment, effort, discipline. Not only on the field but in the classroom and community as well.
    B. He does not ask his players to do any conditioning physically that he has not tried himself...
    C. His time and effort is relentless to the point of almost crazy.
    D. Orrville has always had the situation where a talented somewhat lazy/lacking commitment player can still make your team better. What do you do? Smitty dealt with it his way, Mo dealt with it his way, Mac dealt with it his way, coach d deals with it his way....the rest of us should just let that occur because NONE of us know all the details.
    E. If you do choose to follow our Coach and his staff and do all the things they ask of you and take advantage of all that is at your fingertips as far as facilities and strength and conditioning support, You will be successful. But You the kid must make the choice.

Good Luck vs Copley....right the ship. RTR

Why do you care! Look, I did it again!

Noone knew nor asked about who showed up for practice. Only you felt it was a necessary topic to post to "bash" those "kids" that didn't show up!

Throwing a rock and "attempting" to hide your hand...but that's so typical!

Never once alluded to a kids name, his position or class he's in. Much different than the actions of some on this site after the Triway game.

Think people wouldn't have asked when they saw a kid who is typically on the field sitting on the sidelines tomorrow night? You'd have probably launched into another rant about how the coaches arent playing kids for this or that reason.

You should really be thanking me....

Its funny how if I say anything about Davault or anything negative I am classless but many of you on here and you know who you are get on these other threads and talk about their coaches and programs. Outlandish comments such as "you lost to a girl" on the Wooster thread and a thread last year bashing Coach Mcreary at Wooster to another saying on the Northwest thread that he has never liked Coach Whiting. Hmmmmmm I am very confused. What? Those guys dont have families and feelings and everything you mention? So its OK to talk like that to other players and coaches on here but not for ours right? The fact that the kids didnt show up to practice should not have been mentioned on here if you didnt want our OPINIONS!

I'm sorry Series, but this is exactly the problem with our country if young folks are thinking like this, I could give you countless numbers of kids over the years who as 9,10 even 11th graders never got much opportunity to play. But they continued working, learning, growing, and ended up being a contributor on Friday night and even more of an example to new young kids that perseverance and effort pays off. Heck it pays off even of it did not result in playing time Friday night because what you accomplished individually for yourself by being committed to goal.
This is just the kind of attitude that our staff accepts as a challenge to try and change a kid's perspective on life. If they can help a young man realize that hard work does pay off and it is your own responsibility to make that happen we ALL win. Wouldn't you agree?

Good luck tonight Riders. Beat Copley. Then check out the Illini Saturday night 10:30 on ESPN vs Arizona State. RTR

Kevin Lynch picked Orrville to beat Copley.
