And so do you. You didn't point out the errors of your buddies on this site who can't spell the coaches name right, you singled out those with whom you tend to disagree with most often.

You're simply continuing your game of attempting to discredit others..this time focusing on their spelling/grammar.

Your approach hasn't changed one bit in the years I've known you through several screen names on various sites. Same old, same old.

Red Rider Nation,With all due respect, how can you be SURE that Harbour will ALWAYS get the most out of his kids? We have indeed had some amazing talent, BUT, it's not like we've had 3 or 4 true DI prospects on the field. The trend seemed to be that we'd have 1 DI prospect, a couple future DI guys and the rest were hard-working players that Coach "D" indeed got the most out of. Take our 2006 team for example... one of our most successful yet we had ZERO DI senior prospects, a couple future D1 prospects and a team-full of hard-working guys. That trend has tapered beginning with last years' team...and this years' was even thinner as far as talent goes. You NEED some talented players AND a team-full of hard workers to have success!

It wasn't an attempt to discredit, it was an attempt to encourage improvement in their communications. Since they speak so highly of their alma mater, it would certainly help to believe that they were taught and did learn basic English and Spelling.

"Several" would indicate more than two. I've only been on two sites, JJ and OC, each with a different name, and no, my approach hasn't changed, much like yours hasn't either.

Well this has went from bad to worse...moving on until there is something worth talking about.

Are we seriously fighting over grammar????? I think we should just resort back to childhood name calling..... Dummy, stupid pants, stinky and my all time favorite "you have coodies"! Perhaps we could all write "CP" on our hands before typing on this site to keep from "catching" them from others (you know ….coodie protection)! LOL! Not hating guys but COME ON!!!!

Red Rider Nation, I do agree philosophically with your statement that "great community guys don't always make good coaches", VERY true and I have seen this first hand. I just really feel like the next year or two will say a lot about this coach and the staff’s ability. We are pretty sure the talent level will still be a little shy from what we have all grown spoiled by..... So let’s see what product we see on Friday night against this schedule. The discipline thing I would lay specifically two places, coaches and captains! So I do have a hard time finding fault in that evaluation but we will see.

By the way the Blue Devils played a GREAT game last night. When it came crunch time it looked like a bunch of seasoned seniors against a young freshman team. Aweome win, both teams will only get better as the year goes on!
  • AllOhio
I agree with the "discipline" comment, and would say MOST of the responsibility lays with the coaches and we can only hope our captains have the fortitude to compliment what the coaches are trying to accomplish. The absolute best captain I have seen in our program is Tim Hiller...that young man was a born leader and I'm sure a coach's dream! I ask everyone, how many wins will it take to deem next season a success?
  • RedRider1
More than 1 will be an improvement.

Playoffs will be a success to me. Most programs don't go from 1 win to the playoffs in successive years, so if we do, it should be considered a success.

We all saw the talent on the field...what we lose & what we have coming back.

Our schedule softens slightly with Copley being replaced with a Cleveland city team. At Triway in week 2 and home against NW in week 3. Perhaps a legit shot at a 3-0 start. That would be exactly what the program needs.

OCC will still be a 7 week grind, and we were 0-7 this year. Gotta find a way to scratch out 3-4 wins.

6 wins and likely a drop down to D-5 will get us in.
  • RedRider1
And before anyone show up & says that I'm accepting mediocrity..save it. That's my honest opinion about what I would consider a successful year in 2013.

Team goals will still be to beat Wooster, win the OCC & win the first playoff game.

The bar will not be lowered. But anyone thinking that 1-9 will turn into 15-0 is putting unrealistic expectations on the team.
  • AllOhio
I'm on the same page as you RR1. Optimistically, I'm hoping for 6-4 and a spot in the playoffs. Looking at the OCC schedule, realistically I'm thinking 4-6 or 5-5. I believe if we can get to .500 we could call it a good season...6-4 and a win over Wooster to get us in the playoffs....an excelent season no matter what would happen in the playoffs.
  • RedRider1
That's enough common sense for 1 day, AllOhio.

    Pace yourself.
  • Old Rider
I bet we win no more than 3 games...if that!
  • rrfan
As much as I hate to say it I agree with Old Rider. I can not see more than three games.
  • sanitizer
State or bust! LOL, kinda kidding (although it would be cool). I think a 500 season would be a really good step in the right direction. BUT with what I am hearing is in the pike that probably won't be the case. I would be happy to see some competitive hard hitting penalty free football, that's all! Good old Orrville hustle and grit would be good for a start!!!

Yes it was a great effort down the stretch for Duke last nite! Prime example of a coach that gets the most out of what he has. I know he is one in a million! He had his best player in the bench for most if the 2nd half and had faith in his young guys to step it up. It is possible to win with less talent! Before you say it I know Duke has talent but Kentucky has way more! As far as Harbour goes yea he will always get the best out of what he has that is what great coaches do

I guess, from reading the beginning and end of this post, Harbour must be two in a million!

When Curry put up that pump fake then the bucket and just smiled when he ran back really told the story.... A group of guys that had been there before and were ready for the moment and a group of kids that were playing like kids. Kentucky will be a different team come tournament time thought (I hope). And to your point it is "possible" to win with less talent but to say Duke isn't talented is just not true. They have some ballers on that team man. I don't care who you are you can't win at that level without talent and a few breaks. Fun to watch!

Good article in today's Beacon Journal about Mogadore's football program, all their tradition, and a small towns love of football! It makes me think that is what Orrville "used to be". I grew up in this town KNOWING that I will play football because thats what you did in Orrville...now, I think we are far from that. Playing in the backyard with your Older Brothers jersey's with Bolyard, Leeder, Bradley, Denson, Haley, Reusser's numbers on our backs, pretending we were them and dreaming of playing on Friday nights in Red Rider Stadium...that IS what this town WAS...I think we have lost a LOT of that!

Now we have Heartland Education, Character Ed, Soccer, to soften our boys and teach them to hold others hands and show respect to the opposing team??? That shit is GARBAGE....lets get back to football and Red Rider Tradition and a town that backs their program, shuts down on Fridays for games.

Lets hang banners that show off our tradition. 22 playoff appearances, 4 state title appearance, 9 state semi appearance and a 98 state title and their is not one banner in our stadium that mentions it! We are built on tradition, winning games, and being one of the elite programs in this area...Lets bring that back! Lets teach our kids what it WAS once like in this town...Mogadore still has it!
  • RedRider1
We shouldn't be afraid to tout our tradition. Mogadore hung banners in their downtown of football players..we don't. They run through banners on Friday night..we used to, but don't anymore.

They run the same offense from pee-wee to 12th grade, we don't.

Article said they have 30 boys in a typical graduating class. What do you want to bet me that 15 (at least) of those 30 are on the football team. Maybe they don't have soccer to compete with, but maybe the boys in that town take their value from being a football player..because their dad, uncle or cousins did it & they want to just the same.

We have 60 boys in a graduating class, and MAYBE 15 on the football team. How can 1 town have 50% of their boys on a team & we only have 25%.

Something has changed in this town in the last 10 years & we're starting to see it. Kids are graduating, going to college & not returning to start their own family. That's how a tradition dies.

Here's the article Old Rider mentioned...they used to write these articles about us.

This is a large issue, in many small towns. I think it starts with guys that have passion for what they (we) see not be afraid to talk about it, be vocal. Big difference between being assertive about your views and being an a$#. We all know the difference between being a positive and active noise maker that wants to make a difference for the kids and the community and being an individual that just wants to point out the problems and not be willing to be a part of the solution. I really wonder what the numbers are for Orrville, Wooster and the local area as to the number of manufacturing jobs avalable today vs 10, 15 even 20 years ago? I know Smuckers is the only thing keeping the tax base respectable in the town and they are a loyal bunch but I just wonder...... There seemed to be a lot more blue collar workers years ago... Could just be me....

Absolutely! It used to be that you knew where your buddies dad worked because it was right here in Orrville...those days are gone! Look at Smuckers parking lot one time..if we had just 10% of those people driving those cars living in this town...Just like I heard Bob Snyder say the other day, Orrville is importing workers and exporting paychecks!
  • RedRider1
Those paychecks get spent in Fairlawn & Medina..not at Buehlers or at Bert's Marathon or Mrs. J's.

This is also how a city dies & you get rent-a-centers instead of family restaurants. We're seeing more and more of that.

When our town is building a shiny new Goodwill store along Main St., that says all it needs to about this town.

No more Rosemount, Volvo, Technocast just to name a few...Smuckers is a smaller version of Procter and Gamble but I bet less than 1% of their employees live in our town.

    Thats it....Im moving to Creston!
