By the way...anyone interested in watching some week 12 playoff football at Heartland Field tonight????

The mighty Norwayne Bobcats will be using our field for practice!!!
I never thought I would hear the term mighty before Norwayne bobcats. I really miss that term being applied to Orrville.

He would have to understand what he's looking at before he would take the pages out .

Its not appropriate to share what his response was to me....brotherly love thats all! LOL
How true they could actually watch real football coaches at work . Maybe they would learn something maybe not .

Heard West Holmes asked to use your field for practice but you guys were going to charge us, so we are using Ashlands.

    ^^WH is not a county school. :)

We built the field so the WCAL could practice on it....LOL.

Very interesting if true. The million dollar question was if we're charging for NWN & now Norwayne (and anyone else) to use the field.

In all seriousness, we'll need to replace the turf in 10 years so it needs to generate revenue wherever possible. We charge outside groups to use the multi purpose building.

Also, ticket gates for home games this year were terrible, outside of the Triway & WH games..so we need all the $$ we can get.

When the Knights get turf, I'm sure you guys will do the same.

Probably won't have to worry about that for a long time lol

Just tell Rance Wilcox, Drew Taylor, and Rod Arnold to open their checkbooks!

$1 from every Mackey that went there & it's paid for.

Of all the local schools..WH's stadium would look awesome with turf. That script Knights at midfield would look great.

And why didn't fans come to the games? New turf and all you would think the fans would come flocking in!

Will a serious answer elicit more smart-assery from you...or do you really want to have the conversation?

Week 5 vs Senior....they never travel well. I'm sure our fans didn't turn out like normal either.

Week 8 vs Madison...another fan base that doesn't travel too well...weather not the best...and we were 1-6.

Week 9 vs Clear Fork...more bad weather (rained all day & during game)...another visiting team with a 45+ minute drive...and we were 1-7.

All the makings of a bad year in terms of dollars....along with the record. 1-win teams don't sell tickets. I'm sure you'll take the "fair-weather" fan side of the arguement, but you can't dispute any of the above.

^^ and to add one more thing to that post...

Week 2 at home vs Triway (local opponenet with 10-15 minute drive)we were 1-0 and opening up the new field......... stadium was full.

When a 1 win team is playing no outsiders are coming to watch the games, and even the die hards like us weren't going....so basically you have parents, grandparents, and a few students attending. Since our participation has been declining the past few years, that also means less parents, grandparents, and students are coming to the games....especially when a 1 win team is playing.

I will give you kudos for that.

Good luck Norwayne and West homes, but I have a feeling this will be your last weekend playing football for the year.

Yes it is so I can actually watch a head coach that gets the most out of his players and NOBODY can argue that! BAM!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • RedRider1
Norwayne up 54-7 in the 3rd. They'll play Brookfield for a 2nd straight regional title & berth in the final 4 next Friday.

D4 region 13 & 14 finals from last night ( so much for better round 2 games )

    Brookfield 55
    Manchester 14

    Norwayne 54
    Liberty 7

    Hartley 43
    N.Union 0

    Ottawa Glandorf 41
    Genoa 12

Round #1 games average score for D4 was 43-16 or 59 total points per game, 27 points margin. Round #2 D4 games average score was 48-11 or still 59 points per game but a 37 point margin.

I tried to tell you guys they are just as good as they were last year. I'm envious of their program right now. A small town with not much going for it financially, no new field, no new school, no new jobs, and NO DAMN excuses of kids not hitting the weight room. In fact a town that has a lot less going for it then Orrville! Excuses are running high in Orrville while there are kids in nearby towns working their tails off to get better!

The good teams are winning. Everyone with half a brain knew R13 would come down to Norwayne & Brookfield and R14 would come down to OG & Hartley.

Should be 2 great games. Guessing Norwayne/Brookfield is at Ravenna & Hartley/OG is at Arlin.

This isn't quite accurate. The high school and elementary school were brand new 3 years ago. Also, Norwayne is comprised of quite a bit more than downtown Creston.
