Wow, you sound a little bit angry for someones whose team is still playing.

But once again, and I know this is a tough concept to grasp for those with no knowledge of football beyond week 13, the bottom line is Big Red has STATE titles and obviously regional titles. Dover has never won more than 2 playoff games in a row. That's the bottom line. Not every school is going to win a state championship. It's not easy, as you should very well understand.

"Dover will win a state championship" is just another example of you Diver boys talking the talk, never walking the walk. Keep running your mouth bc the real bottom line is that's ALL YOU REALLY DO, never backing it up.

Dover is minor. Big Red is major.

Just one other thing, how many tuition scholarships are giving to the tuba players in the band?
My buddy's sister was in the band at Mooney. She got a scholarship every year...and also received tuition assistance each year based on their family's income.

We can't afford to turn down students based on athletics. We don't have the public tax base to suckle when we don't manage our finances well like the public schools.

As for the band, the Catholic grade schools in our area don't have very strong music departments, again, if just as in athletics, parents in our area have also chosen to send their musically gifted kids to schools in our area like, nationally recognized Boardman High school. Heck, a friend of mine sold his house in Boardman to a woman from Howland who wanted to move into Boardmans district so her son could attend Boardman based on their Music Dept/band.

My first post and I'm sitting here watching you whining and whiming and whining and.........

How come there was no "all star" referrals to Ursuline after you beat them or any of the parochials you have beaten over the last decade. SVSM, CCC, Watterson, DeSales? I'll tell you why because you didnt need a whining excuse because you beat them.

Once AGAIN...THIS IS A MOONEY/DOVER thread...NO ONE cares about Steubenville....you are at home in week 13...just as you were last year....It appears Dover now has your number. Now get your homework done...study hall is almost over!!!

Enough about Big Red in this thread. Dang. Nobody cares. Go make a Big Red/Dover thread if you want to keep repeating the same thing over, and over, and over.

I almost forgot, what about the parochial "all stars" you play every year from out of state? No different from Mooney. All parochial teams playing by the same enrollment rules.

Tell me THICK, have you whined about those oos parochials? I think not. I hope your anger lasts all year because it won't end there. Mooney has a ton of "all stars" coming back in 2012. Hope to see you and go 7-1. I'm sure the whining will still come out then also.

I don't think Dover fans run their mouths more than other bases, I think they just have more fun than most bases. Are we supposed to come on here and assume the position? The fact were playing in the game means we have a chance and the fact it's week 13 means we're pretty good so sorry were not getting on our knees because you're Mooney.

More importantly none of us will have any effect on the game, so sit back, thicken the skin, and have a little fun.
  • CrimsonNBlack
Reminder Dover has not won any trophies
  • I Am Ahab
You can't take things too seriously when you are a perennial regional title game doormat. Teams love to see Diver going into week 13. Odds are facing the Talk and Awe in the regional title means you're movin' on.

It's gotta feel like groundhog day every mid-November.
  • GRAYWOLF
C&B I hear your sending Mooney fans threatening messages. Week 13 and Dover is playing. Your problem is you measure success by the number of trophies you have. In Dover we measure the kids success by how many get a good college education. How many Stuber seniors will continue their education? At Dover it easy to figure, it's all of them. How many does your program leave behind after there high school football days.

Sal the barber still has Mooney by 15.

Mitch the Mooch has Dover by 4.

What team has Dover played that has Mooney's size, quickness, and athletes?

Agreed, the fact that you are playing in week 13 means you are very good and just as capable of winning this game as Mooney. However, please Dover faithful don't on one hand aw shucks us to death about our poor little community team doing their best against the handpicked team; while at the same time warning us of the air assault we are about to face.

As for sitting back and having thick skin and a little fun, we can do that too, just make sure that you are around this and other forums for a little "fun" after the game if you happen to lose.

You see, we know that if you win, you will be everywhere pounding your chest about the great victory or you may take the high road and say what a great game it was and better luck next year Cardinals.

If you lose will your skin be thick enough and will you have the stones to enjoy the "fun" then? ...I don't think so. We have seen it many times before it's all fun and games until the whistle sounds.. .then whining, accusations or silence after the game.

They haven't, I would guess no one in DIII has that hasn't played Mooney yet. Some of the best athletes from Youngstown are playing a bunch of kids from a town of 11,000.

You mean to tell me you won't be around for the fun?
  • bases_loaded
We joke about an air attack but the reason we run this offense is to consistently have a shot against any team. We don't draw from a surrounding area, we get the kids who live in Dover. Early on we had success because we had some special talent('98-'02) but it became clear that talent wasn't going to be there every year so they implemented(a year early) the spread so that even on down years Dover could compete. The formula has worked, 4 regional finals in 5 years. Is this the time to take the next step? Cards are stacked against us...but Friday night Dover will show up and compete for 48 minutes. No lead is safe(for them or the opponent) when the Tornadoes take the field.

You forgot to bold the part where I said "other than discussion about the game"...pretty key in the context.
