Week 13 Dover (11-1) vs Mooney (8-3)

If Dover protects the ball they can beat anyone. Tonight shouldve been a 20 pt win. Set the over under at 76

Mooney has to be the favorite. The only thing I noticed from the BR/Mooney game that I liked is the stats from BR:

    25 rushes for 38 yds
    20/32 passes for 292 yds
57 total plays for 330 total yds
    14 1st downs
    12 penalties for 101 yds
    2 int
    1 fumble--recovered
    TOP: 23:26

If we get the chance I know we will throw the ball more then 32 times. Mooney will run all over us, period. Lehr might be out as well as Hunter S. That will hurt us big time, making our D weaker then what it already is. All we can hope for is another shoot out. Derick looked really good tonight, I only counted one bad throw, which was a pick. The other pick was earned. If BR could air it out like this we should be able to score with them. Northwest does run a good spread attack, I just think we have almost perfected it. Good luck Dover, its our time!

Yes, #1 you should always take what one fan says on a message board and assume he is speaking for the coaching staff and team and #2 Mooney has a long history of being wickedly surprised by opponents.

You can compare Northwest to Dover. I've seen them both

    I give Northwest the edge

One thing we know for sure, Northwest beat an average Canfield team, something Dover can't really say.

Glad you like that stat. The only bad part about that is the only stat that matters is the scoreboard, and 20/32 for 292 yards eaquals a loss.

Both teams played diff Canfield teams.

Oh, my mistake. I didn't realized there were two schools called Canfield. Point taken.

It seems from comments made on multiple sites that the OHSAA is going to show up at Steuby High on Monday and award them the 2011 Div 3 state runner up trophy.

get ready to watch some basketball at the Crimson Center.

Hope Dover can pull out the win. Mooney is obviously the favorite though.

Dover has given up, what, 88 points in their last 2 games? I think their terrible defense will catch up with them in this game. They'll score some points, but not enough, IMO. Mooney's DBs didn't look that impressive against Big Red last night, but part of that was the game plan, I'm sure. Mooney ran a 5-4 almost all night with 2 CBs on islands on the 2 split ends. I'm sure they'll change that up. Hahaha!

Dover has 2 real good and 3 pretty good receivers and the quarterback seems to be getting the moxy back from last year. As long as they don't turn the ball over you are going to see a big number put on the board. It's time for #12 to make school history.

Heard that last week from Northwest fans. How did that work for them?

I am honestly curious as to what separates Northwest's offense from Dover's. Something besides "Dover is wayy better/talented" etc. Like objective differences.

These Dover posts sound just like Steubenville posts. You can take this to the bank. Mooney will show up next Friday and be as prepared as they were last night. I don't care if Dover runs the old side saddle wing t. Good luck to the Cards.

I hope they don't chuck it up 60 some times like NW. We will be there all night again.

Mooney's D really impressed me last night. The offense couldn't hold on to the ball, but the D still did a really good job keeping the Cards in the game in quick change situations.

It will be interesting to see if Dover's line can keep Mooney at bay to give their QB time to throw. If Dover's line plays more like Steuby's, they may be able to throw a little. If they play like Northwest's, it could be a long day for Dover.

The best way to beat a team that likes to air it out...RUN THE BALL! Mooney needs to gash them with Griffin all day long and control the clock.

As long as Mooney knocks off the stupid penalties that plagued them against Steuby, and protects that ball, I can't see Dover being able to stop the Cards. It's not a good sign that Dover gave up 43 points to Canfield, and 53 to Sheridan. I haven't seen them, but it sure seems like that defense has some issues. Mooney should be able to exploit that and pull out a W here.

Teams that chuck it up 60 times in late November in NE Ohio better hope mother nature takes it easy on them.

Mooney has to be the favorite.

Not saying Dover is Kenton, but all they did was pass & they couldn't stop anybody. Yet they won 2 state titles and 1 runner up in 3 years. So, you can primarily pass and win.

Dover's receivers are way better and the quarterback is more talented. ;)

The teams are actually very similar. Broad answer on differences: strength of schedule. Not just during the regular season but also pre-season scrimmages. Dover scrimmaged Pickerington Central this year, got the hell knocked out of them, but used it as a learning tool. Also, Dover has been running the spread offense for years, and has perfected it to the best of their ability, whereas NW is not known as a spread offense team. I only saw NW play once this year so I won't comment on any specific details.
  • bases_loaded
The spread comes down to the QB. And Dover's QB >>> Northwest QB. This is the same Dover QB that went into "death valley" in round one last year, got the crap beat out of him by big red, and came out victorious. The time is now for Swinderman to cement his name in Dover lore. Go get em Sheriff
  • Mooney44Cards
When you play Mooney, your QB is only as good as your offensive line. I hope Dover's O-line is up to the task, because it is doubtful they have played a team with linebackers/dlinemen as good as Mooney's.

Also glancing at Dover's schedule, its like a who's who of "who?"
  • Orrvillefootball
Ii wouldn't put Northwest and Dover in the same boat. Orrville lit it up on Northwest. I doubt we would have done that to Dover.
