Week 13 Dover (11-1) vs Mooney (8-3)

I Am AhabDon't worry Cards fans. You haven't played Diver much but here's how it goes. They will tell you all about their high powered spread offense, this is their year, they might even pull out this is their best team ever or their dream team. Then an offense will come on the field throw a bunch of bubble screens that go nowhere and you will be able to control their weak defense.
Somewhere down the line they might catch you in a down year and they'll hang onto that as their Super Bowl or regional championship in their case. But that won't be this year. Just enjoy the shock and awe. You'll be shocked at how poor their O is after all the talk they did. But they beat Claymont so... -

You can tell yourself that, but it's not trueDover;968809 wrote:Both teams played diff Canfield teams.
The Dover/ Canfield game was a classic, but with the game on the line, Canfield drove the length of the field mainly running 1 play, and then when they went fortwo, they ran the same play agian. And Dover couldn't stop them.
How are you going to stop Mooney's running attack when you can't stop a QB draw all day long
As far as Canfield/ Northwest, Canfield was pretty healthy (meaning Italiano played) but he got knocked out right before halftime. Northwest pretty much controlled the first half from the opening drive. But with Italiano out, Canfield couldn't muster much in the second half.
The difference that I saw was Northwest's "D" was a bit better than Dover's
Think about that for a bit -
I Am AhabWell if you guys didny say it this year it might be the first. 2006 was your dream team. 2009 was even better than that one. And heck 2010 went into death valley and won and that seems to be the measuring stick by which all great teams are measured regardless of how poor Big Red was that year. Why not? I'll say it for you 2011 is Diver's Best Team Ever. They beat Claymont!!!!
Do you actually get a trophy for regional runner up? If so that's pathetic. -

Jim ShortsHey Ahab,
This is a Dover vs Mooney thread. We all know you and thickbighead hate Dover, so why don't you start your own thread about hating Dover. Get over it -- I'm tired of reading your BS, blowhard. -

I Am AhabAsk a mod about the ignore button. Or go give a lecture to your fellow Diver fans who spent all week on the Big Red Mooney thread. Door swings both ways, ladies.

Ahab just upset that his mighty Red didn't get a chance at revenge on Dover this year. Maybe if Big Red can figure out how to make it to the regional title game next year they will get their shotI Am Ahab;969012 wrote:Ask a mod about the ignore button. Not sure what this is all about. Dover's offensive totals against Big Red since going to this poor Offense are:I Am Ahab;968986 wrote: Then an offense will come on the field throw a bunch of bubble screens that go nowhere You'll be shocked at how poor their O is after all the talk they did.
2010 - 31
2009 - 14 - Big Red shut us down that year, however the QB in 2009 was more of a runner than a thrower which played into Steuby's hands
2006 - 30 -
tinman 36Dover might have a better QB than Northwest, but he's not that much better. You guys will get some passing yards, both NW and Big Red was able to do that. Defense is Dover's problem. Canfield put 43 on you, and a New Philly team who wasnt great just about beat you, two teams which NW handled without too much trouble. And we all know how the Mooney/NW game turned out. I was at the game last night, seen a couple of the hardest hits I ever saw in a high school game. Big Red has a big, fast, talented defense. They played well, but Mooney was too much for them.

Like I said, against Mooney or any good defense....your QB is only as good as the offensive line, and unfortunately for NW's QB he didn't have much time to throw. I would love to see that kid behind a better Oline as I think he was pretty damn good.tinman 36;969106 wrote:Dover might have a better QB than Northwest, but he's not that much better. The 2010 team was one of the least talented Dover teams in the latest run. I think you can talk about past, current, and future Big Red on your many websites and the 2012 thread on this forum. What a pathetic life you must live having to come on and rip on a team that has made it further than your beloved team the past two seasons. Maybe you should go back to division 4 because region 11 is too tough for the big red. While you might have got the better of Dover a few times, you never annihilated them and never figured out how to stop the offense.
Its going to take a flawless game for Dover to beat the best of Youngstown, but I don't see any reason to believe they can't do it. -
garweftThis game will be won by whoever gets to set the tempo. If Mooney can keep Dover's Offense off the field with long scoring drives that eat up clock they win. If Dover can get up by 2 scores and get Mooney into a shootout Dover wins.
With any luck I can make the trip, just need to decide which side a Big Red fan should sit on. -

I doesn't matter how many weeks you get to play, if you don't make it out of the region your still in the same spot.bases_loaded;969129 wrote:The 2010 team was one of the least talented Dover teams in the latest run. 2005 dIII state champs
2006 dIII state champs.
Sucks that d3 region 11 is too tough for Big Red.
Maybe Diver should look for a change. Never state champs, never regional champs.
You can fool yourselves thinking you are better for making it past two rounds. But in reality Mooneys balls for scheduling let you live another week. The 1 seed gets screwed in a sense for having to face Mooney in round 2. But in the end Mooney is the best in r11 despite records. And to be the best you have to beat the best. But to act like you are better bc you are going to be regional runner up is laughable but you know it.
Once again back2 back d3 STATE champs. And on the way to one of those: Big Red 33 Divers dream team 30. -
bases_loadedCongratulations on your back to back state championships 5 years ago.
I won't even bring up the back to back failures to have a chance to get out of the region, even though thats less than 24 hours old.
This thread is about how bad Mooney is going to whoop Dover and why Dover should just stay home this week. -

You mean to tell me that Mooney's coaching staff and team isn't on this free high school chat site, planning their entire week 13 strategy based on what Dover fans' opinions are?! Get out.Mooney44Cards;968789 wrote:Yes, #1 you should always take what one fan says on a message board and assume he is speaking for the coaching staff and team and #2 Mooney has a long history of being wickedly surprised by opponents. -

Ugh, don't start with this crap. Just because a lot of people think Mooney is better doesn't mean anyone thinks Dover should stay home. Its a straw man argument that underdogs always use.bases_loaded;969254 wrote: This thread is about how bad Mooney is going to whoop Dover and why Dover should just stay home this week.
No one is disrespecting Dover by saying Mooney will win or Mooney will win by a ton and Dover has no chance.....its just their opinion, and opinions mean nothing. -

Thanks for the recognition but I didnt win anything. Big Red did. I was just responding to your idea that r11 was too tough for Big Red. If that's the case Dover should prob drop their football team as they've never gotten a regional championship. But I don't expect Diver fans to know anything sensible about football so your backward comment isn't a surprise. Five years ago isn't really too long though. And Big Red has been to a title game since then and also won another regional championship at the hands of Diver just two years ago. And for what it's worth I think Diver should stay home next week. With your record in the reg chmp you're prob better off getting the extra week of b.ball in.bases_loaded;969254 wrote:Congratulations on your back to back state championships 5 years ago. Haha, what does a Dover fan know about getting out of their region? -
I Am AhabNotice he said back2back failures to "HAVE A CHANCE to get out of your region". He couldn't say failure TO GET out of your region bc Diver has never done that and that would really be the pot/kettle. Lol.
