I didn't forget...afterall, the "fun" and need for thick skin prior to the game isn't centering around game talk. Why wouldn't you partake in and enjoy the sidebars that don't concern the game if you should happen to lose?

He'll be here crying about everything under the sun. I remember them after '09. It's quite enjoyable. They act like they aren't like that before the game and theyre just a proud little community who aren't concerned with winning (that what all teams who don't win say).

Then they get sassy after losing another regional title game. Heck, I would be too if coach whatIfft let me down year after year. Four failures in five years. Dang!

I mean do you want my phone number so you can remind me that your "catholic" all-stars beat on my "hick/amish/farmer" podunk football team? There isn't any fun in losing, the fun banter comes before the game, after the game there is only going to be fun for one team.

I don't remember crying in '09 about anything. I haven't cried over a high school game since my last one.

Im glad you posted here though. yngchms...I can promise you I won't be like this guy next week if we lose.

We don't draw from a surrounding area, we get the kids who live in Dover. Early on we had success because we had some special talent('98-'02) but it became clear that talent wasn't going to be there every year so they implemented(a year early) the spread so that even on down years Dover could compete. The formula has worked, 4 regional finals in 5 years. Is this the time to take the next step? Cards are stacked against us...but Friday night Dover will show up and compete for 48 minutes. No lead is safe(for them or the opponent) when the Tornadoes take the field.
If you think our boys just show up and let talent speak for itself.. you are sadly mistaken. They work as hard or harder then anyone. We have routinely faced larger schools with just as much or more talent and we have been successful.

I think some of the chip on the shoulder attitude we have comes from the diservice that you and others do us by saying all stars or handpicked team; I think it draws the students (athletes and non-athletes), alumni, faculty and parents closer. We too have a very, very special school.

I don't know how you guys do it. Worrying every year if the kids who got vouchers to come play football are going to pan out or not...how about the kids who are there for academics, hopefully they don't bring down your test scores.

We got it easy, if you were born in Dover or Dover TWP you are in. Talent and test scores be damned we are Dover.

If we were hell bent on winning at any cost why would we only go to the lengths you assume we do just for football. Why not basketball, baseball or take your pick of any of our girls sports. While we are often competitive in any I have mentioned; we are not dominant in any.

You can aw shucks with the best of them but your logic is flawed. Jealousy is an ugly, ugly trait.

If you picked kids to be good at all those sports you would be division I and not be able to get in a pissing match with the other catholic school in town?

Im just spit balling here. I really don't know, but willing to bet it has to do with keeping your numbers where you want.

Why is a Stubber hanging around in week 13 thread? Dont they have an off-season thread created for them?

Because I'm such a good guy and because I knew it would be so hard for them to type the thread title so early in the season I started it for them on Friday night...but here they are. There is even a new poster, guess he's here for basketball season?
