Week 13 Dover (11-1) vs Mooney (8-3)

  • fish82
Mooney should win on paper...but this game will be a lot closer than people expect. Me thinks the Cards might find themselves with their hands full.
  • I Am Ahab
In all objectivity, without having seen either of these teams play, I'm thinking this game is actually going to be a close one with Dover having a chance to shock people. I was there in '07 when Coldwater upset Mooney in a game that should have been a cakewalk for the Cards, according to just about everyone who knew anything about anything.

I could see this being similar if the Cards don't watch out.

His game is weak, he will get a few jabs in but lacks the ability to knock anyone out.

Hello graywolf, he did not hurt my feelings. I gave him a little break to get some help.

Teams like yours are always a concern to me. if you let them hang around they will beat you. Everyone always points to the Coldwater games as games that were upset shockers, but given the conference that they play in those weren't quite the upsets everyone made them out to be in my mind.

The loss to Galion sticks out in my mind, now that was an upset. Which is why I never underestimate anyone. I don't think our coaches will take you lightly either. 16,17 and 18 year old boys are a different story. Let's just hope they have their heads on straight after a battle last Friday.

If you let them hang around? You better be more scared of a hot start. They will never be out of the game.

No a lot of teams start out doing very well and as the game wears on so do they. I would be more concerned about a team that hangs around, continues to gain confidence and perhaps takes advantage of a late turn over or missed assignment on D.

thanks mr. bighead for your support . we need to change up our defense from what we normally run like we did 5 or 6 years ago when we played cambridge in the playoffs at philly. gave up over 400 yds in regular season and just alittle over 200 in the playoff game.

Or your QB can't pick himself up off the ground. Whichever comes first. Have your center call the kid from NW and ask him about #59.

Totally possible qb will need sometime . Line play is critical no matter how jumbo the d is. #59 is awesome, will see. Concerning Qb on the ground we have a few surprises for you there. We use three O line packages they will be fresh all four quarters. Dover program keeps them in good condition and they know how to block. lol sometimes. Your big guys will need track shoes at this track meet. Also If you think you will have time to sub #51 and #55 or #37 think again Dover runs plays very quickly. sometimes. The spread sometimes runs into trouble in side the 10, we have some surprises there too. Sometimes they play like world beaters and sometimes they don't. hey there kids, also you probably will not see any of them play on Sunday and a only a few on Saturday next year. They know this might be the last time they play the game. If they play like its the last play they want to remember. I like are chances. Play 48 minutes with no regrets. Our Receivers we have a full stable. There routes are organized chaos. Guys running in all directions. You will probably run a cover 5. sometimes.

Mooney vs. Dover Thread Summary, after 14 pages:

    Dover

The town: It is a hick town where everyone uses snuff and drinks cheap beer. Most probably won't attend the game because they will be too consumed with the upcoming deer season. The majority of residents live in a trailer park and some have a claim to fame by appearing on the Jerry Springer show. The best of the best have a successful career at Wendy's.

    The team
: Coach Ifft and the Tornadoes have made it to no less than 4 Region 11 championships games in 5 years, but that is mute and laughable because they have won none. Mooney is in for an aerial assault the likes of which the players and coaches have never seen, nor could they possibly prepare against. Mooney played (and beat) top ranked D1 schools in and out of state, but that is irrelavent, because they are playing the Mighty Tornadoes.

    Youngstown Cardinal Mooney

The town: If you live in or near Youngstown you are either dirt poor or you are in the mafia. Car bombs are the norm throughout the city. Beruit is a better place to raise a family.

The team: It is comprised of super athletes that in no way should be playing in a D3 football contest, but they have somehow tricked OHSAA into letting them do so. These boys have come from all over the country and they mearly call Mooney home just for the sake of ripping through the Ohio football playoffs. They can't spell or write, but that doesn't really matter because they are athletic studs and will all be NFL players by this time next year.

    Steubenville

The town: Even more miserable than Youngstown, you will get butt raped or murdered just for looking at someone wrong, especially if you have a Tornado or Cardinal emblem anywhere on you. Tornadoes are called severe wind cones and the state bird has been changed to red tufted black face, just to rid the memories.

The team: Got completely screwed last week by the officials, and I MEAN SCREWED! They got penalized for hitting too hard for crying out loud! Big Red had the victory but the zebras had it all planned out before the game even started. Their season is over, but the 5th quarter, arm-chair quarterback nonsense lingers on an unrelated thread between two teams actually playing this Friday.

    good Summary

The Catholics have great playmakers in their secondary, I wouldn't be surprise if they keep it simple and just play man most of the night, they certainly have the athletes for it, but they've played tons of spread teams so you know Dover's staff knows exactly how they're going to line up to us. No doubt their D line will be sucking air by the 4th, IMO platooning our O line is what got us to week 13. Our offense has to fire all it's bullets right away so we can get to half time and make our adjustments. I worry that they're stronger and faster at every position but nobody is in better condition than Dover's players. If they don't break our backs early with picks on D we got a shot, Mooney's O has worked efficiently on much better defenses than Dover so they'll get their points, but if we trade blows back & forth Dover can win; this 3rd week in November is exactly why they were conditioning last January. Clock management will be huge for Mooney, last week Minerva's coach didn't take it to half and it lost him the game. If the Catholic coach makes similar mistakes Dover's going to take the region.

Luckily for you, I'm pretty sure that your Coaching Staff won't make such a stupid assumption

Nodding my head Keep in mind that Northwest threw 59 times in week 11 and Mooney also played Red Lion I respect Swinderman after Dover beat a poor Big Red team last year, but he will not pass for more than 250 this week
