chippblueI don't know anything about the smithvill norwayne incident, but when norwayne came to Chippewa I thought we were playing east Cleveland instead of a neighboring farming community. Mabey I am getting old but there is a big difference between being confident and just being cocky. As for those parents that think their child is innocent you would be surprised if not shocked by what is said on the sidelines when I run chains. I will say that hillsdale is the best coached team (on the sidelines) and yes even my beloved chipps have some of the biggest trash talkers in the league. It all comes down to leadership and discipline and setting an example on how you want your players to act. I once spoke with Chuck Kyle and he told me hat the behavior of your entire sidline, fans included, is a direct result of the head coach. Good luck to all the area teams this week!

I could be mistaking, but I believe the Browns 3 wins are against teams with a combined 2-17 record....ouchy.....:laugh:OQB;947025 wrote:Browns are 3-3.... -

The statement was "least they (bengals) win" sure they are 4-2, but the Browns are 3-3 and a game behind the Bengals....not too bad considering the lack of talent we have. The Browns can't control their schedule and how other teams do. Let's not forget, the Browns had the game won against the Bengals until the defense was stuck in the huddle.dontcare;947076 wrote:I could be mistaking, but I believe the Browns 3 wins are against teams with a combined 2-17 record....ouchy.....

I am a norwayne fan and I saw this coming a mile away. Those kids have been told since 8th grade that they were a superstar team and it finally got to their heads. Norwayne asked for it and smithville gave them all they could handle and much more. Smithville came out and showed them how to play football. They outplayed outclassed and outcoached norwayne tonight. I hope the bobcats can get back on track for a W next week. ( As long as a certain player gets to stand on the sidelines for real this time).
Interesting that you assume these boys have an ego problem. You have heard what can happen when you "ass"ume, right?... My son plays on this team and is quite humble. I can tell you that the Zimmerly and Wilson boys are as nice as they come. As are MANY others. Just because they are blowing other teams out, you attribute the wins to the development of an ego? What happened to the belief that winning gets these kids "pumped up"? These boys didn't even get the opportunity to play a full game until week 9! One or two kids with an attitude do not constitute a team with an ego problem. I will agree with the posters who are calling for more discipline for poor behavior, though. Nothing worse than sitting in the stands and watching a player throw temper tantrums on the field while the coaches pat him on the back. Shame on any adults who post here and judge the character of these boys, without knowing them. These are the same kids who sit next to you in church, organize fund raisers for families in need, support eachother with the loss of a classmate, etc. To those of you who take shots at them on a personal level, grow up. You aren't in high school any more. Would your favorite team have an "ego" if they had our record? As far as #22, what he did was stupid. Do any of you remember doing anything you regret in high school? Ever talk smack about your opponents before a game? I do not condone his behavior, but i am not stupid enough to say "My kid would never do that!" None of you should, either. -
OQBHere is my predictions:
Waynedale wins a close game against the pups.
Northwestern defends the screen like everyone else and wins easily agianst the Indians
Smithville gets #250 for The Godfather.
Game of the week:
Hillsdale at Norwayne
WOW, who to pick in this game? I have seen both teams play and give the advantage to Hillsdale on the line of scrimmage, but Norwayne has far more athletes to use. This is going to be a great game and I can't wait to see the outcome. -

Yes they have been scoring 50+ a game but they havent played the toughest teams out there. Don't get me wrong they are a great team but remember pride comes before the fall.

Ok, looking forward to traveling from one side of Crestvirginia to the other side of Crestvirginia tomorrow night to watch the game. Should be a very interesting game from all aspects. We shall see if Norwayne did some soul searching and we shall see if Harbour can make the adjustments needed to close up the weaknesses that were exposed last week. I think Norwayne better come out focused and ready to play or it might be over quick. Good luck to all teams, fields will probably be muddy and its going to be brisk so please, lets all stay safe.OQB;947083 wrote: back to WCAL football -

Point taken. I may be a "newbie" here, but I have been a mom for a loooong time. I take issue with all of the shots at #22 while people in glass houses are throwing stones. As i have said, i do not condone this boy's behavior, but do not think he should be imprisoned for life, either. Had it not been for social media, would we even be discussing this? Any of you former high school players ever talk trash? I see Smithville parents calling for his head while their children openly hurl curses and insults at our kids. The parents, too! ( In all fairness, a select few social misfits who need to get lives- not all the Smithville parents). I also take offense to the personal shots at our coaches, players, etc. To make personal assumptions about their character without even knowing them constitutes a cheap shot in my book. And to make fun of the way a kid runs? Give me a break. Analyze the game, the coaches' decisions, whatever. Leave the nasty stuff out of it. Seems like when you sit at the top, people are always trying to find reasons to bring you down. On that note, i would like to wish "good luck" to both teams tomorrow night. Both teams have played a great season. -

In no way was the Crestucky or Crest-virginia comments aimed at all Norwayne fans. If you would go way back to some very early posts on the thread, you will see it was some good natured ribbing at some boasterous Bobcat fans. The folks on here mean no harm or disrespect. As for banners and fans behaving badly, this is nothing new! I dont condone this behavior, but I could tell you stories about the 70's that would curl your toes!! One sign in particular comes to mind, the sign hung right by the ticket booth at a certain stadium and read: Smithie Blood Makes Grass Grow! or Better Dead than Green! Ohh the good old days!lol -

I agree with this 100% and I will also add that my family and I are good friends with some families from Norwayne. However, if this ^^^ is a cheap shot, then Norwayne probably was the king of the cheap shot when I was in high school. -
jzi3151I have been following this thread since spring, a lurker I guess. Some pretty funny and entertaining stuff on here from some of the long time posters. I have a son at Smithville that plays and thats why I dont post. Football is an emotional and passionate game. It should be and has to be, thats how you are competative, thats how you win. As a parent its very easy to get caught up in the emotion especially if you are an alum of the school your boy plays for, again why I dont post. The extent of the Norwayne/Smithville hoop-la would not have happened a few short years ago, social-media put it out there and spread it to students, fans and the general community and fueled the fires of what was already going to be an emotional game. I know from my son that there are some fine young men playing for Norwayne and that the videographer did not represent the vast majority of the team. It makes me mad that after a hard fought game on the field that there was verbal abuse, thats not right, period.
A refocused group of Bobcats may be a dangerous thing come Friday. I played for Schrock on his first WCL championship team and hope that my son and his teammates get to experience a piece of this years WCAL championship, which may (or may not) be Schrocks last. -

first off to answer your question... I had that same exact record as your norwayne team and as one poster on here said we were supposed to be the "saviors" of our program... not once did we have an ounce of ego or trash talk. if anything we had a chip on our shoulders and kept our noises to the grindstone. I credit our coaches and parents for raising us correctly. So that comment just proves to me the "character" these kids are seeing everyday from whomever... number two.... say what you want, I believe that kid deserves every bit of criticism he receives. I'm sorry but that was extremely stupid and idiotic even for a high school kid. number three... I have the coach crap for not suspending his kid... he ended up giving him a quarter off... I don't agree with that but he did do the right thing and that is commendable. after this young mans unsportsmanlike penalty I definitely would drop the hammer on him because it's clear he still has not learned his lesson. lastly... if I was you I'd quit bringing attention to what happened... it will go away quicker.bobcatmom;947148 wrote:Point taken.
