Absolutely correct!!!! unreal!!!oldsmithie;946565 wrote:It looks like more rain today!! could make for a sloppy game at Norwayne.
Reality TV is not real!! I have watched my share of "reality shows" I agree with basis of the things Mompov said, but find nothing real about those shows!, hand picked people, put into contrived situations and bad behavior gets rewarded by getting more screen time. NOT REAL. -

Norwayne just showed a lack of discipiline which can be corrected. I am sure the Norwayne kids came in with cockiness and expected to take it to the Smithies. The frustration showed and hopefully the lesson will be learned. As Smithville has learned before, play-offs are a diufferent animal than play in your conference.
If you knew the boys, you could rule out the "cocky" part of that comment. The majority of them are actually quite humble. Being "pumped up" is actually quite different than being cocky. As for fair calls, take a look at the large photo on the front page of the sports section from last Saturday. Looks like a block in the back on Wallace and Maibach is actually being physically restrained on the ground... No flag on that one. As for expecting to beat Smithville, it was quite the opposite. They expected one of their toughest games of the season and never underestimated the Smithville team. I would like to make a comment on the people who posted about Smithville staying classy- i sat directly across the field from a sign that said, "HATE RED". Found that to be quite distasteful. And adults taunting players? And to the derrogatory references regarding Creston- ("Crest Virginia", "Crestucky") I reside in Creston. My husband and I both have Masters' degrees. Likely a higher level of education than some of the individuals who posted the comments. I am actually looking forward to the Hillsdale game, and may the best team win. Good luck to both. I found the Hillsdale players and fans humble and welcoming last year. I wish them much success in the remainder of their season and will welcome them to Creston Friday night. Go Bobcats, disregard the haters!! -

I am gonna guess that with all this rain OHSAA will take a close look at homefields in week 11 and possibly move some because of field conditions and look for turf fields in week 12 for as many games as they can.oldsmithie;946565 wrote:It looks like more rain today!! could make for a sloppy game at Norwayne.

Actually, 94.6% of the regular WCAL posters have doctorates. Our average ACT score is 34 and most importantly.....almost everyone possesses a sense of humor.
Now that it's readily apparent that you're undereducated, whiny and lacking in the ability to take a joke...

THE4RINGZAs it looks right now, norwayne will play manchester in Week 11. For the sake of the norwayne players and fans, you best pray you and manchester don't flip spots in the standings and you have to travel the Bob France Stadium to play. If you think what happened after the game in Smithville was bad, you obviously have never played at 'Chester.
-
THE4RINGZHopefully this whole heckling/taunting issue will die down soon, but I will add my two cents.
In a rivalry game with so much on the line, some of that has to be expected. Now the fact "adults" were involved and using that kind of language is wrong, but everyone had to know there was going ot be a lot of junk talked after the game especially if Smithville won. Part of me wants to believe that there is more taunting/heckling now in the age we live in, but I believe this has gone on for ever. I think we are just little more aware of it or sensitive to it now. Back in the day, it was just part of the game. I cited manchester in an earlier post, I can cite numerous other examples occuring other places as well, that would make the Smithville incident seem minor.
If you are an above average team, and playing in a hostile environment you have to come prepared to deal with some of that. That is a fact of the sports world today. Heavy is the head that wears the crown. -

If Manchester loses to CVCA (quite possible) they wont be anywhere near 4th or 5th....but still could end up playing Norwayne (at Norwayne).THE4RINGZ;946682 wrote:As it looks right now, norwayne will play manchester in Week 11. I'd be very surprised if the top 4 was anything other than Girard, Norwayne, Orrville and Black River....in some order. -

manchester will beat CVCA, manchester has had a year not unlike orrville, very up and down, the loss to iv hurt bunches. I see Bob doing whatever to win this last one to get in. Besides that you have to throw the ball to beat the panthers, not exactly CVCA's strong suit. -
Red RumIf it comes to fruition, I like Norwaynes chances against Manchester, home, away or neutral field.
The teams that look like favorites in 13 are IMO......Orrville, Canton Central Catholic and Girard.
If the weather stays nasty and the OHSAA would intervene and move some week 11 games to turf fields, that would work out great for Smithville or Hillsdale. Providing they qualify.
Oldsmithie & mompov are right. I'm also sick of reality TV. I watch the Browns offense every week. -
THE4RINGZAs much as I would like to agree with you about the norwayne v. manchester match up, I can't.

riders1Quick look at regions and the worst records still in the top 8.
DI ... 6-3 record is worst with 8-1's lower than 8th.
DII .....5-4 record worst ( 2 teams, Ashland is one , with 7-2's lower than 8th
DIII ....4-5 record Napoleon worst , with 7-2's lower than 8th
DIV ... 5-4 Ironton worst record
DV .... 7-2 worst record with 8-1's lower than 8th
DVI ... 4-5 Wellsville worst record, with 6-3 lower than 8th
Strength of schedule does make a big difference, and it looks like DV is one of the strongest divisions this season. -
Go Falcons^^^^ I'm sorry but, I don't understand.

Well I hope that is inline with Norwayne losing Friday night, because their loss will determine where they fall. Hope for an injury free week in the WCAL.THE4RINGZ;946682 wrote:As it looks right now, norwayne will play manchester in Week 11. RedRider1If i'm a home team for week 11...no way do i give up a home game.
Now the state should mandate that all week 12 games be on turf, usually that mandate doesn't start until week 13.
After week 11, there's only 96 teams left in the state, or 48 games....24 on friday and 24 on saturday night.
so at worst, the state has to find 24 turf fields. I wouldn't mind a farther drive if it meant a good playing surface for both teams. -
oldsmithieBobcatmom: I understand your frustration, but you are a nubie and this was your first post! In no way was the Crestucky or Crest-virginia comments aimed at all Norwayne fans. If you would go way back to some very early posts on the thread, you will see it was some good natured ribbing at some boasterous Bobcat fans. The folks on here mean no harm or disrespect. As for banners and fans behaving badly, this is nothing new! I dont condone this behavior, but I could tell you stories about the 70's that would curl your toes!! One sign in particular comes to mind, the sign hung right by the ticket booth at a certain stadium and read: Smithie Blood Makes Grass Grow! or Better Dead than Green! Ohh the good old days!lol

And the last part of your post supports what the point I was making earlier, this stuff has gone on for years (minus the parents yelling obscenities, well sort of), we now just seem so sensitive to it. Any coach has to prepare his team to face this kind of stuff when they go on the road and are playing in big games.
When walking to the locker room, win or lose, keep your helmet on, keep your head down, don't make eye contact, and don't react to anything you hear or see. It's called mental toughness. -
THE4RINGZHere's a good albiet somewhat related story about parents/fans seemingly out of control, it's lengthy so hold on.
In Wooster the lacrosse team has a huge rivalry with medina. I mean huge, the games usually get ugly quick. So 2-3 years ago we are playing in medina on a sunny Saturday. It has been a very physical game, both teams were dropping players from the other team at will, both on the field of play and off. You could feel the tension in the air as you sat in the stands. It had sort of a European soccer feel to it. Along comes the fourth quarter and lo and behold a fight breaks out on the field, the benches clear. I see two parents from medina jump the fence to come onto the field of play to join in the fight. Unbelievable.
After the teams get settled down, players get send to the penalty box, and the game resumes, all we hear is the medina fans continuing to female dog in the stands (medina was winiing and did win the game), so the game ends, Wooster is instructed to stay on the field until additional police officers can arrive to clear the mob of angry medina parents and fans out of the way for Wooster to be able to get to their locker room. The parents had lined the walkway to Wooster's locker room to continue the verbal and potentially physical bashing of the players and coaches.
Wooster's AD was in the parking lot when a SUV loaded with medina parents pulls up to her and tells her to kindly f off.
We laugh about that now, but at the time we had no idea where it was going to end up. -

I am originally a Smithie, and I can remember serious issues between Rittman and us. This was late 70's early 80's. Todays stuff is quite mild in comparisonoldsmithie;946831 wrote:Bobcatmom: I understand your frustration, but you are a nubie and this was your first post! OQBI think everyone needs to grow up....Coaches need to be disciplined and not let these comments/videos be made. Players need to know that their actions can really effect your team in a negative way. Parents, just let the kids play and be supportive....they play the game for more reasons than just winning, and you learn more from a loss than a win. Posters, have a sense of humor and know how to take a joke, it really cracks me up how much these boards really effect people, crazy! haha
Good luck to ALL area teams this week and finish the year strong! -
