Orrville Red Rider Football 2011

RiderfanGood points Ridernation and 5 knots. I like the option of bringing Drew in if needed. I like a qb at the high school level that is a threat to take off and move the chains. It could pay off in the playoffs if we can give the other team something they haven't seen.

Nobody can throw to him now. He looked like a natural at the position, put the ball on the money. Made quick decisions, read the defense if recievers were covered he didn't force it into double coverage didn't take a sack. He just seems like a better qb, i like the way he took off if recievers were covered instead of throwing a pick.riders1;938163 wrote:He couldn't throw to himself -

All that in what I believe was a 3 play drive, don't forget the last 2 drives of the 1st halfRed Rider81;938705 wrote:Nobody can throw to him now. 5knotsNice problem to have. Let's just get thru the next two weeks healthy and with wins any way we can and then we can. Field will be a mud hole. I watched the Madison CF game film from week 6 and there was no grass within 2 yards of any yardline between the 30's. They didn't have a varsity game last week but sounds like every other team played on it a bunch. I think we play just as good in the mud as we do on a dry field. We will see. At least it won't be raining Friday

OQBJust Win! Go Riders!!!

Old RiderJust flipping through computer standings...there are 5 teams in Ohio with 5 wins in the top 3 of their region. They are..
Mooney
Orrville
Shadyside
Delphos St Johns
Danville
Strength of schedule says a lot! -
riders1To expand a little those teams and Elida at 4th in their region all would have home games if we started today !
Mooney #2
Orrville #3
Shadyside #3
Delphos St Johns #3
Danville #1
also Zanesville Rosecrans has 5 wins and is 3rd behind Danville, and it is amazing how many teams with 6, 7 , and even 8 wins are below these teams.

5knotsYeah, I see where our schedule is the 8th toughest in all DIV. Of course that only works to your benefit if you can beat enough of those teams to get you to the play offs.
Off topic here....I spent some time this weekend with a guy who was the point man for Jackson's new turf project. He said the total was right around 650K? That is a heckuva lot less than the 800-1million figure that has been thrown around here. Does anyone know if we have ever received an actual quote from a turf installation company? -
riders1The original price throw out in the papers for Jackson's turf was $637,000 so I would assume it was close to $650,000.

Arlin field was more
Cost of the entire project, field and hillside, is $775,450. It will be paid from the district’s permanent improvement fund. -
OQBI don't know if we have ever gotten a quote but I know the more fancy you make it the more expensive it gets....colored endzones, logos etc....
-
Full ThrottleIf we dont get turf, our field has drainage problems that needs taking care of.The mud under the grass looks like muck.Has a bad odor to it also.Near the sidelines its always muddy and slippery.I know both teams have to play on it,so its fair, but i dont think it helps the Riders, with the offense we run.Over the years i have seen alot of our players slip and fall during their routes near the edges.
-
Old Rider^^^ The hump in the middle of the field alone would take extra money to have graded/leveled. That is the main reason the sidelines are soo wet. Would love to have turf, but $$$...
-
Full ThrottleI know at least one of the workers doing the site work at the high school is from Orrville. With all the equipment sitting around maybe they could do that for us after the season.
-
Full ThrottleAt least put some drainage in along the edges.

I think Jackson went with a simple J at midfield and Jackson in 1 endzone and Polar Bears in the other while Mansfield has the huge Tiger at midfield plus endzones writing and the turfed hillside with the pawprint, thus your difference of $125,000 plus between the 2 fields.OQB;939587 wrote:I don't know if we have ever gotten a quote but I know the more fancy you make it the more expensive it gets....colored endzones, logos etc.... -
OQBExactly....but if you get turf, you might as well do it the right way first.....RR1 had this image on his site a while back and that field would be beautiful at Red Rider Stadium!
Sad thing is I still think we are 3-4 years away from this being a reality with the new schools and the multi-purpose building being built....unless we have another community member step up with a donation just for it. -
riders1Start buying lottery tickets and when you win we have the OQB Field at Red Rider Stadium

OQB
lol they would still hate me...riders1;939775 wrote:Start buying lottery tickets and when you win we have the OQB Field at Red Rider Stadium  -

That J at midfield looks like a lower case 'r' from the other side of the field. Looks weird.riders1;939689 wrote:I think Jackson went with a simple J at midfield and Jackson in 1 endzone and Polar Bears in the other
I think OQB is right...get this school built, and new track in spring of 2012, then worry about turf. -
Big FanDoes anyone miss RRN?? I am bored reading turf talk????
-
RedRider1I was told he wasn't at the booster club meeting last night.

Red Rider NationI made right with a lot of people from Orrville this week and a lot of people made right with me. I have talked to several people via private messages, text messages, and phone calls and I appreciate the support I received for voicing my opinions. Thats just what it is, an opinion. I have no hard feelings and hopefully you dont either. I want to say this: I was way off base on calling out a young man that plays on this team. I talked with him through some messages and sounds like I was 100% wrong. I heard the rumor from the other website as well as one of my friends saying it was on the radio. This young man is living in the moment and enjoying the last few precious games he has to put on that uniform. I apologize to anyone that i did offend. While I stand by my thoughts and opinions I do realize you all have yours too. Orrville has some passionate fans and I just consider myself one of them although I dont live there. Orrville football has a special place with me and i look forward to the best 10 weeks of the year just like you do. I try to tell friends of mine in Stark county that Friday nights in Orrville are not just games they are events. Such fans as Massillon and McKinley argue with me and just laugh it off as another D4 team. I would go to an Orrville game over those teams anytime and I do. Thanks again for all of you who actually dialed the phone number I gave and had good conversations with me. We didnt all agree on every difference but we agreed that the one common bond is we love Orrville football. As always good luck to the Riders against Clearfork and the rest of the way!!!

Red Rider81Its time for some payback tonight. Last year they embarrassed and disrespected us at our house. Kick some colt ass tonight Riders. Secure that home field playoff tonight, and good luck.
