Agreed. Hope he does what his knee will let him and can contribute...but suiting up is a victory in itself.5knots;902791 wrote:Matt Davis on the practice field today and Thursday in the shorts/helmets days this week. Hope all goes well for Matt. -

My sons played for the Orville Red Riders. That's all!Old Rider;901086 wrote:Are you kidding me? You had kids that were Red Riders and thats what you have to say?
Putting on the uniform does not transform you into someone or something to be worshipped and glorified as some of you seem to do!
What I said was simply this, that Lexington was not the tough opponent some of you would have them to be. If you feel that's an insult, you have that right. You don't seem to have an argument with those that agreed that Lexington isn't that good. -
footballnutGood luck to Matt. We would love to have him back.

OQBGreat news for Mr. Davis!

"Lexington was as big a quality opponent as Triway was! "
"Being a bigger school may contribute more computer points but that does not mean the team is good. "
What is the definition of a good or quality opponent at this point in the season, because apparently in your interpretation Orrville has no good or quality opponents on the schedule, as everyone has at least 1 loss. And looking back through the Lex thread the only commments about the Lex team were from Lex fans and 1 other who commented on the "sorry" lex team and his other negative Lex game comments. -
Old Rider
I didn't take it as a personal insult, but I took it as a bash on our kids and that made me upset. Was Lex a tough opponent? I think that they are much bigger than us and we have to play well every year to compete with them. Beating them is great comp points and thats all that matters. Just dont bash a WIN. A compliment to the kids would be nice every once in a while.Series62;903018 wrote:My sons played for the Orville Red Riders. That's all!

As far as being worshipped or glorified when you put a uniform on...you never put one on personally so you don't know what your talking about. There IS something special about putting that RED/WHITE/BLACK uniform on on Firday nights. Ask anyone who played what it meant to them, but nobody has ever said those words worshipped/glorified...only you.

Red Rider NationHard to tell a kid like Matt Davis to not go hard but I think he needs a few more weeks. I would hate to see him rush it and risk injury again. I would like to see him come back against Ashland. I debated with some people last week that think he should only play defense when coming back. I think the complete opposite. We are doing well on defense and if he eases back into it he would be great in the backfield with Mason. This way we arent as predictable against good teams. Mason is a beast but having that extra option in the backfield would be great

Not sure he's planning on being back before Ashland. Don't believe he's "full go" yet, just working him back in. I'm sure his doctor and Audrey are keeping a close eye on him. I get what you're saying though....at the end of the day, he still has a torn ACL.Red Rider Nation;903666 wrote:Hard to tell a kid like Matt Davis to not go hard but I think he needs a few more weeks. Also, we're 17th in the latest D-4 AP Poll. We were 11th last week, and had 3 first-place votes. Odd that we win, drop 6 spots and lost all first-place votes.

OQBNice job RedRider1, great work as always!

ECOLaceThose state polls are a joke anyways, Dover not earning 12 points but Cambridge being 12, Sheridan in the top 10, malvern #1 in d6, most of it is just jokes and area plolitics.

LightAny word on how Matt did yesterday and how his knee is feeling today?

I could not disagree more he needs to play defense only. Playing running back is how he was hurt to begin with , one hard cut or hit to knee and his playing is done. He is going to play linebacker in college not running back. There is no need to jepordize his future by having him running the ball. -
5knotsFirst of all. If there was a chance he could screw his knee up any more than he already has the doctors would not let him play at all and just fix it. So the coaches do not have to make a decision based on that at all. The decision that has to be made is what is Matt capable of doing with the brace on. Hey, if he us our best H back then he will play H. If he is our best Will linebacker he plays Will. If he is the best at both if those then let him play both. Him not getting hurt has to be thrown out if the equation Especially in his own mind. Yesterday was a good test for him with a wet field and poor traction. He looked good out there. I saw him limp a little after one play but that could have been anything. He was adjusting his brace occasionally looking fir the best fit.
-
5knotsRedblood, you are correct in the fact that he was injured running the ball, but his injury came as a result of him trying to do a spin move. If Matt would have just lowered his shoulder probably nothing happens except the fact that he puts a hurt on the DB. He tried something that, in watching it in real time, seemed like he was uncomfortable doing and I and others firmly believe the ACL tear came before he was ever in contact with another player. It was on the spin. So Matt, it you are reading. just lower your shoulder and put the hurt on them next time. No fancy stuff. haha

Old RiderIf Matt can play at the same level as the kids we already have in place at his former positions, then I agree he should play. However, if we play him just because he is senior/captain and he is not giving us what the other players were giving us..then I can't justify him being on the field in place of someone that has proven themselves.
I am all for giving him a shot, but if his play is in any way less than what we have now...I don't agree.
A kid certainly doesn't lose his position because he gets hurt, but I believe they have to earn it back by proving they can play at a high level or its a no IMO!
However, I believe that with Matt's mentality and toughness he will be giving us 110% every play and that I will never doubt.
I am glad I don't have to make the decision -
OQBAlso, Matt is the kind of player that is going to give you 110% when he is out their on that field. He is a great player and if he is the best guy for the job, let him play. The Doctors wouldn't of cleared him to play if they didn't think he could, and if they think he can play we all know that he thinks and wants to play with his teammates.
I was wondering how he would do with the wet field yesterday, glad it went well for him. How did the passing game look in the rain?? -

nice post, and maybe we see a rotation of guys at the H and Will spot...Old Rider;904408 wrote:If Matt can play at the same level as the kids we already have in place at his former positions, then I agree he should play. 5knots^^^And that right there is a luxury that can take us a long way^^^^ I agree with you 100% Old Rider, you play on our eleven because the staff feels you can give us the best chance of being successful. PERIOD. No Rich Daddy/poor Daddy/ no Daddy/ crap in our program...contrary to what one guy thinks. Go Riders....let's get win # 592 Friday.

riderdad1I think Mason gave out a few Who's your daddys last week when he ran those kids over!

Redblood63I guess i just didn't know all the facts on how he was hurt. Wasn't trying to sound like a doctor or coach i would hate to see him hurt again thats all.
