BRFAnd another thing...............I got to visit my mother and see my sister and my nephews and eat some great food and take carry out home from a super BRF place called Martin's Deli and I got to escort my 84 year old mother into the stadium so she could see her grand-daughters cheer and it was a wonderful night.

It was a good lesson for not getting so wrapped up in making a "knowledgeable" score prediction! Ha Ha! But, yes, keep picking against us while rooting for us! -

Thats what I'm talking about! That is some True Rider Spirit when you speak of Mr. & Mrs. Pickett.BRF;566584 wrote: If you Rider fans see Keri Pickett, tell her thanks. When Pirman's knee brace broke at the end of the 3rd Quarter, his dad walked over to the stands and she yelled "do you need another brace?" and he said "yes, that's what I was looking for". She whipped off her new $180 brace and tossed it over and #88 strapped it on and went back into action. That's a TRUE Red Rider fan!!! -
5knotsYes BRF and I was able to run into the pretty sister of yours and get a hug!
-
OQBI have to say, I am a little dissapointed in the Genoa fans......your team is on an amazing run these past 4 years, and all you can do is leave the game early? Stay and cheer those boys on that have given you some great football to watch every Friday night.
Orrville's crowd is getting bigger and bigger each week.....let's continue that next week! -
OQBHad the chance to meet GtownComet tonight before the game, what a nice guy and very supportive of both schools! His wife was even selected to lead Genoa out on the field, he was pretty jealous!
-
FlashWE did make some nice adjustments at the half that slowed their running game to start the second half.
-
OQBI really want to know the stats for this game....anyone have them? RR1?

FlashFinalists: Orrville vs Chagrin Falls
Bishop Hartley vs Kettering Alter
Recap of last years final:
Division IV – Kettering Archbishop Alter 37, Chagrin Falls 7Canton Fawcett Stadium – Saturday, December 5, 11:00 a.m.
Kettering Archbishop Alter Downs Chagrin Falls 37-7 for Second Straight State Title
Knights Defense Dominates in Div. IV Championship Game
CANTON, Ohio – Top-ranked Kettering Archbishop Alter used a suffocating defense and a strong ground game to claim its second consecutive Division IV state title and complete an undefeated season after downing third-ranked Chagrin Falls 37-7 Saturday at Canton Fawcett Stadium.
Leading 9-0 at the half, Archbishop Alter fumbled on its opening drive of the second half, which Chagrin Falls turned into a five-yard touchdown run by senior running back Chris Gorman to pull within two points. The Knights responded by dominating the rest of the game, exploding for 28 points to pull away for the victory.
The Alter defense, allowing just over six points a game all season, was the story in this game. The Knights defense held Chagrin Falls, who averaged 33 points entering the contest, to 144 total yards, allowed only seven first downs, forced five turnovers, and had an interception return for a touchdown by senior defensive lineman Thomas Armstrong. Senior defensive back Nolan Plate led the defense with nine total tackles, while Armstrong had 6.5 and two sacks.
Offensively, the Knights were led by senior running back Cody Taulbee, who rushed for 126 yards on 16 carries and scored three touchdowns. Alter averaged 5.5 yards per rush and racked up 210 of its 318 total yards in the second half.
In its first state title appearance in school history, Chagrin Falls suffered its first loss of the season to finish 14-1. Despite five turnovers by the Knights, Chagrin Falls was unable to move the ball, converting only five times on 17 third or fourth downs.### OHSAA ### -

OQBI think if Genoa ever wants to get to the big game, they have to be balanced.
They just can't pass block, can't get open, and can't throw good passes. The QB looks like he could be very good, but he just throws it up for grabs everytime.....can't win big games by misdirection and the quick pitch. -
5knotsI agree ....the throwback offense can get you so far...and then a bump in the road.

GenoaCometGreat game tonight - Congrats to Orrville for a well played game. Wasn't impressed with the refs, and we made some costly turnovers, but the bottom line is the Orrville defense really stymied our offense - probably will be our worst offensive numbers in 4 years.
But way to go Comets! - Thanks for another outstanding season - for what was thought by many to be a rebuilding year, and then make it alll the way to the Regional finals after beating the likes of OG and CF - nothing at all to be ashamed of. And a big thanks to this senior class - what a fabulous four years they have had. I'l tell you the same thing I told my son - you have been really blessed to have been a part of an experience like this - it's memories that you will carry with you all your life and your grankids will just roll their eyes some day when you tell them the old stories of the Comets under Coach Vicars.
Again - thanks to all for making this forum so enjoyable this year. Best of luck next week Orrville! -
bigkahunaI was on the Genoa side obviously. I had to laugh because there were some fans (Drunk because I could smell it on them...classy) yelling at Vicars and other fans for having such a crappy coach. These were all Genoa fans BTW. They were complaining about the play calling and the offensive scheme in general. I wanted to turn around and ask if they remember the 0-10 seasons of just a few years ago before Vicars.
It kills me how little some people know.
As far as the game goes, I was impressed with both teams' defenses. Not a knock on either team, but neither offense impressed me that much. I think tonight was just a good hard nosed defensive battle. By the way- Avon Lake has a GORGEOUS STADIUM. -
OQB
Dumbfounded.... -
5knotsThanks Comet! You guys are on quite a roll. See you next year either in Region 14 or or State semis if we go to 13
-
GenoaCometAnd who knows - maybe with a little luck maybe the 2011 Genoa Comets will have a chance to knock off an Orrville team defending a state title. That would be some sweet payback for these last two years
