Don't worry, I am sure that the teams in front of them with loses were to teams better than Ursuline and Massillon. I mean, how else could that happen? Only in the OOOOOOOOOOVAC.

Alot of people assume that Brooke and Morgantown are pushovers because we beat them nicely . They are two solid teams same as McKeesport and our DC foe . Bases loaded are you a Dover fan?

We got a couple of trouble makers on here . I say Steubenville welcomes our old friends back to Harding for some great football . Our teams will settle it out on the field and may the best team win with no injuries , You Dover fans will be welcomed with friendship and respect in our local businesses. You are all very safe . Aside from your lingering teenagers acting stupid which you get at every high school football game every weekend at every high school stadium ,you will have an entertaining night. I know both programs respect each other and maybe in the near future we will be meeting in reg season . .......Now as far as these trouble makers on here ,most are not from either Dover or Steubenville ,they only want to stir the pot and start false crap because as usual theyre teams are eliminated and they are bored . Ignor them.

That's the difference. All Dover Fan does is talk, talk, talk about how great they are, but have nothing to back it up or show for it. You would think they were 10 time defending state champs the way their fans brag them up. That's what started it all back when JJ's got going in 99....Dover fans like the one above ripping on Steubenville, Big Red, the valley in general, when their team hadn't even won a freaking playoff game up until that point! Before that we didn't know, or care, what Dover did or didn't do.

BTW, this has nothing to do with the actual team.....because I saw Dover on tape and they have a really good team, and if we don't bring our A game, we could very well lose.

Dover fans have a lot to be proud of. I think if you look at who their playoff losses are against you won't find too many teams that didn't either make a deep playoff run or lose to the eventual state champion. Too many people take message board banter seriously. Big Red is king of the mountain in the region. This will be a fun game but it will take Dovers A game and Big Red mistakes to escape with a victory. I was not impressed early on with this Dover team and yet they were a couple mistakes away from being 10-0 and by the end of the season the defense took some great strides. I have yet to see Big Red play this year but I expect an offense that operates like a well oiled machine and a defense that will put pressure on the QB all night. Someone is going to have to step up on O as Im sure Zohner will have special attention paid all night.

Wheres Gray wolf with the thunder and lightning? That was a whole paragraph of serious talk and I need to rinse my mouth out.

    Well said Thinthickbigred.

As for the game, I expect Jo-Jo Pierro (sp?) to give the Dover defense lots of trouble. Dover has a quick strike offense, but I can see Big Red eating up lots of clock with a solid running game. If BR can get Dover to go 3 and out on a couple of series, or cause a turnover, that could be the game winner. A quick strike offense cannot score if they are not on the field. On the other hand, if Dover can post a few quick scores, it is hard for a normal running team to come back from behind. Then again, BR is not a normal team. I think its going to be a classic battle.

I enjoyed going to Crater stadium when younger . The rivalry was intense back then . I remember us winning 18-13 in 82 . that was a thriller . I remember how huge that win was for us it catipulted us that year we went 10-0 . we had a great team that year .

...this is what Big Red fan does that is most annoying. I wasn't trying to start a wang measuring contest. We know Big Red is king of the region, we know they have some hardware. All I was trying to say is Dover isn't some fluky team, they are consistently good, just haven't cracked the final four yet.

I also look for our defense to put pressure on the QB all night!! They will have to be quick to get the ball off. I look for BR to mix it up a bit!! We have a ton of different weapons to work with, and I expect them to use everyone, now we are healthy!! I predict a couple interceptions if Dover QB throws when he is in trouble!! This is just my opinion!! I have not seen Dover play,I can only go off of what people say,and from what I have seen BR do!!! RRR

You didn't factor in the weather: very cold with snow flurries and/or showers. That plays into the running game more so than the passing game. That said, there are more chances for fumbles and mis-handling the snap in the running game. This should be an exciting game.

    Cheers.

Just from looking at weather forecasts, I believe those snow/rain showers are supposed to be during the morning, early afternoon hours. Even if there is to be a light snow, as long as there isn't a strong wind it shouldn't effect the passing offense too much. The Big Red defense is going to have a bigger impact on what Dover can do on offense than the weather will, IMO.

The biggest keys for Dover Saturday night is going to be to get some stops on defense of Big Red early, and not turn the football over. In Dover's playoff losses the last few years (twice to Big Red and once to Licking Valley), we have fallen behind in the first half because of turnovers and getting run over on defense. All 3 games Dover has managed to come back late in the 2nd half to within a score, but the deficit has been too much to overcome. IF Dover can get off to a hot start, it would be huge. IF this offense gets into a rhythm it can be very tough to slow down, even against a quality team.

With all these IF's I sound like FWK. IF Big Red didn't turn it over we beat Massillon, IF we weren't injured we beat Ursuline, IF, IF, IF
  • Thinthickbigred
I think the passing game will be not effected unless alot of wind . light percipitation will not play into the game as much as we fans think .

I came on after last years loss and gave props to the team because after watching 100s of high school football games I thought that was the most disciplined and well executing team I had ever seen. All I got was "mickey Dover, roll over dover, blah blah blah".
I'd have given Dover their props, except they ran they same little bubble screen repeatedly despite the fact that it gained about 4 yards for them the entire game, they got completely dominated on the line, Big Red pushed them around at will, and that was after the elitists talked up how powerful their offense was. They had less than 20 yards in the firast half, lol.

So, yeah I was always taught if you can't find anything nice to say, talk mad $#!T....

And we gave due credit to Salem, Marlington, etc. teams we beat. You just didn't didn't do anything worthy. Your band is good, lol. And your majorettes, too. Your football team on the other hand was utterly dissappointing. I'm sure you felt the same way. HAHAHA.

If Big Red plays like we did in our eight wins, it will be Big Red 28-0 before Dover even scores.

Lets stay healthy . Have alot of fun . Should be great atmosphere. Back in the day the tarp would be out and we would have a little bit of mud to contend with . That turf really makes a big difference . Although playing on grass was always fun and getting muddy was even funner

I have been watching this Randy Moss thing on tv alot and It is hard to believe a guy with that much ability has such a poor attitude towards team, coach, city. What high school did he attend? I can tell you this if he had played for Reno and his staff that man would be a different person than what we see on TV . When you are on the field you go 100% all the time or your benched .....period....No one player is above anybody else on the team . I also grew up watching Woody Hays and Chuck Noll . Can you imagine that guy playing that way for any of those guys ?
  • Art Modell
Moss played for a WV school whose name escapes me at this time. I believe he played against Brooke in one game.
  • Wooball
Moss went to DuPont High, which wikipedia says no longer exists. Didn't Jason "white chocolate" Williams attend the same high school?

You guys never cease to amaze me. Only you can take a headline on one of the NFL's most talented WRs and think that the coach of your podunk high school would have changed his life.

Last year Dover was a benefactor of a two weak draws,Big Red deserved to be in the regional final, Dover just fell into it. That was not a very good Dover team last year. Question though, if not for a 104 yard pick 6 and a QB fumble Dover beats you in '06, would that have impressed you? Or was the 3 point win over just another sucky Dover team? And how does your God of a coach not see the surprise onside coming after half time?

This is a good match up of schools that have playoff history. Big reds in success and dovers is the what "iffts'"

Could have been close on neutral field.. big red at home.... winner

Why does home field make that big a difference? Just asking??
  • BigYtownRed
    ThinThickBigRed,

I am sure we can look through some police blotters during Reno's 25+ year tenure & find some guys that ended up in the slammer or not being "all they could be in life".

Randy is a big boy & has plenty of collegues & coaches as examples of what to do & not to do. I am sure that some of them are a little greater than Reno. Randy @ 75% is still better than 80% of the League.

    RRR beat Dover

I attended the Massillon and Ursuline games, and I'm asking myself why we lost. It's not enough just to say we were not the best team on those nights. Why were we not the best team? What could we have done to win those games? What can we do to avoid those mistakes in the playoffs? I'm sure these are all questions the coaching staff is asking themselves.

Are you serious Clark? Not a month goes by that you can read in the Herald Star about a former Big Red player getting in trouble with the law. Do not deny that because you know it's true.
