Good stuff.war_admiral;539378 wrote:Glad you showed up in week 11 SOS. I like how in YOUR IC 2010 final season post you listed everything under the sun as to why you ended up 6-4 lol
"What are you doing beside dwelling on your 2005/2006 dream seasons?"....Well let me dwell on it for a moment.....ummmm let's see, we played for a Regional Championship in 07', played for a State Championship in 08', we were a State Semi-Finalist in 09' and well, will see where 2010 takes us.
The eye of our past is filled with memorable moments that we remember while adding to the tradition that is..... BIG RED FOOTBALL.
So sit back and take some notes. Cause IC got that "mathematically eliminated" thing down pat. Just go back on the chop and talk about next years installment of the "IC Underachievers" and predict a record of no worse than 7-3, no wait...more likely 8-2, possibly 9-1 or maybe a "DREAM SEASON" of 10-0. lol
Then when the season is done and the teams handing in their equipment. You can post on a forum a list of all the excuses as to WHY YOU STUNK:
1. Starting linebacker quit right before the season started.
2. Another went down and out for the season during a passing scrimmage right before the regular season started.
3. That shook up the defensive side of the ball significantly.
4. In week 2 we lost one of our best DB/WRs for the season with a neck injury.
5. Our best TE nursed an injured ankle all season long.
6. Had a starting O lineman out EVERY game this season. (Cue the violins)
7. Alex Young had a injured wrist.
8. The flu/sickness hit us hard.
9. We are a VERY young team.
10. Lacked experience.
11. Lacked heart.
12. It was hot early in the season.
13. It rained at times.
14. Then it got chilly.
15. If it's not Big Red whooping are skins, it's the Bellaire Big Reds doing it.
16. Star player got mono.
17. Bus ride to Oak Glen was too long.
18. Parents need to toughen up their kids.
19. Hard to obtain the lofty goals set by SOS.
20. WE STUNK.
I said this last year and it may be true this year too, though I don't know anything about this Dover team 'cept the record; if Dover is ever to beat Big Red this is the year it should happen. That said, it won't happen.
There are few things more enjoyable in HS playoff football then watching Big Red oust pusheDover AGAIN!!!!!!! One thing I'm gonna miss about this year is the annual talk that THIS is Dover's best team ever, THIS is their year, until post a$$ whooping when it, in fact, was NOT Dover's best team ever, LOL.
Can some Dover fan just humor me and call this the best Dover team ever and say that THIS is the year you finally KO BIG RED and win something. It just doesn't feel the same w/out that bull$#%^ you guys always talk. -

The whole vicarious living thing is really quite sad, and it really is just a game. While it's a lot of fun to support the boys and hope for their victory, reality is that no matter the outcome the earth will continue to rotate when we wake up Sunday morning.
Good Idea, be nice and maybe they'll take it easy on us. I hope you have this same attitude after the game should....hehe....Dover win. -
VikingBig Red rolls to victory. Marlington is Steubenville's only threat in R 11.

FairwoodKingThe biggest difference between Big Red and Dover are their schedules. I doubt if Dover would have made the playoffs if they had had Big Red's schedule. We shut down the teams that are likely to win the PA and WV big-school state championships. Our only losses were to powerhouses Massillon and Ursuline, and I doubt if we would have lost both of them if we hadn't had so many injuries.

Who would you have beaten, Massillon or Ursuline?
#1 Inside LB Clayton Mattox
#1 Safety Alex Winters (also, the #2 RB)
#1 RB Jake Reiman
#1 OLB Robbie Plants
#2 QB Brody Tonn
#1 Center Ben Hampton injured in 3rd QT.
These are the players who did not play vs Steubenville, not to mention that Inside LB Aaron Robey was playing his first game back since HIS injury. Sophomore QB Kyle Kempt was making just his 4th start. Sophomore RB Kentrell Taylor was making his 1st start ever.
So, I hope you're not figuring the Massillon game as the game you would have won. -

Things might have been different if we hadn't had six turnovers. I realize Massillon caused some of them, but I still say we didn't bring our A game.
I think the injury bug hurt us more in the Ursuline game. We kept them scoreless until almost the half. -
finster4307There is no way Dover walks out of Death Valley with a win.
Not this year with an "average" BR team.
Good luck with that... -
Doverthey are crawling out.

DthaneTo be honest I respect Dover. I actually think we should play them every year, but I realize there are reasons why we do not. They seem like good kids and have a good band.
That being said, we may have two of the most volatile huddle fan bases in huddle history. They look forward to the huddle gathering almost as much as the game itself. Let's hope for a great game, and if Dover wins, I will likely be behind them as they move on in the playoffs. They, like Big Red, have some very entertaining huddlers. I like being home for this one for our kids. Our fans have not been real loud this year for a variety of reasons, most notably there have not really been any close games. It's kind of hard to get into it when it's 31-0 after 2 periods. I don't think we will have that problem this week, with the marquee matchup of the Dover O vs the Red D. Something has to give.
No prediction, if the Red is standing with a measly one point W, that means they will play in week 12. It may not be easy, but our kids no doubt will be up to the challenge. Focus Red. One play at a time. Good Luck. -

I had just taken a bite of my sandwich, read this, and had to heimlich myself on the back of my chair. -
DthaneI didn't say everyone here feels like this! But we played you guys 9th-10th-11th and 12th grade probably before most on the huddle were born. Won some, lost some, including to your 1979 squad, but it was a heck of a game. I realize you have a similar fans base as us (well, no one can have quite as many radicals as us, can they?). Common thread, we love football! It ought to be an interesting week.

Crimson and Gray HairIt's gonna be nice to sit there Saturday night, look across the field and know there is somebody sitting over there who isn't...doesn't...well, you know!
A lot of nay-sayers here, but I expect a very good game. This is not the best team I've seen Dover field in the recent past, but I do believe they are capable of rising to the task at hand. If we play like we did against Coshocton, Steubenville will have their hands full and fans on both sides will have cause to be vocal and on their feet. Win or lose I expect to see a performance I'll be proud of from our squad.
BTW - what are the visitor stands like. Dover will bring a big crowd - we always do. How soon should we plan to arrive to get a good seat? -

DthaneCGH, the stands are fine, should be able to get 3,500 over there with another 1,000 in the endzone by the band. Parking is not real fun, with most cars landing on the streets/lots north of Sunset and alot landing in the Kroger lots west of the stadium. Possible to park, then eat near the stadium if you want, with many choices within walking distance. I always suggest to use the facilities on the north side of the stadium when you get in, unless you like portajohns!
I would guess an hour before the game you get a really good seat, but close parking will be gone by then. All of the seats are really close to the field. Our scoreboard speakers are quite loud, so if you are HOH, sit close. If you are not, sit far away from the scoreboard. I look forward to a good game. It should also be on WTOV so you should get home just in time to watch it around midnight. Do you really get WTOV 9 out there? NBC Cable? And watch for deer on the way over here, it's that time of the year. At least rt 250 is open again I hear. -
FairwoodKingThere really aren't any bad seats in Harding Stadium. I watched a Steubenville Catholic Central game this year from our newly constructed west end zone. As crippled as I am, I got up and down the bleachers just fine and I could see everything very well.
The visitors' side is even better. The seats are so close to the field that you're practically in on the action.
I hope everyone from Dover has a good time (except for the final score, of course). -
SUPER787
I haven't looked up the year, but we went to Dover with a very good B.R.team, led at the half by several touchdowns and lost. The headlines are framed and hanging on a back wall at Shoney's restaurant in Dover.Dthane;540529 wrote:I didn't say everyone here feels like this! Any team that throws the ball as much as Dover is capable of a win. Don't underestimate this team.
Cheers. -
2002sunsetAnyone have an update on Najee Murray??? I think Steubenville could really using him flying all over the field. Their best player in my opinion.

Best of luck to you also, your still a valley team...
First of all you guys bailed on us in the last minute and tried to stick us with a 9 game schedule but that didnt work . Honor a contract that you guys asked for. Secondly Who in the hell are we stealing from you? and If I had a choice as to which school I would go to Steubenville. Not Wintersville . -

I thought your #2 qb lined up a a wideout on the first play with a different # and pased for that TD . Brilliant and legal play . He just had to inform the ref of the # change . We were caught toally outsmarted looked like the old days. Not slighting you guys . Now back to SOS I want some more rhetoric -
