Can Youngstown Ursuline be beat?

  • Zombaypirate
Kirtland will be the only D5 team to compete with Ursuline. Ursuline wins 3 in a row.

    No.. they won't compete...

Has Teague gotten more offers yet? I'd be shocked if he doesn't play in a BCS conference, not that that is the most important thing.

I disagree. I think if any team could beat us, it is Kirtland. Hell, they should have beat us 2 years ago at Harding. We won in the final minute 18-16.

teague is too fast and runs too hard for d5 schools to contain him for 4 quarters thorw in smith and kempe and it gets ugly. They havent really opened the playbook up the last couple weeks either you have to keep that in mind. I feel sorry for south range those boys fought hard to get in the playoffs.

Now that I think about that, I was really wrong. Kirtland stands no chance against Ursuline you should be able to stick those 2nd teamers in and relax and take care of business and save the first team for the teams in the State semi's and the State finals.

You public school teams in Urine's area are just feeding the beast. Stop playing them at the junior high level. That's how they evaluate your talent. That starts their recruiting process. If schools would band together and make them travel an hour and a half for a 7th grade game their program will start dying. To kill a weed, stop watering it.

    I agree.
This has started to happen down the river to a "public" school.

The kids will be noticed either way.
You act like people don't talk or something?
And its Ursuline! Don't hate on the two, soon to be three time defending state champs!!

Threads and attitudes like this are the reason that public schools in the Youngstown area have not been able to compete with schools from the famed MAC in Western Ohio. Everyone in Youngstown wants to duck competition and stop playing Catholic schools...and that has brought football down across the board in Youngstown. Compare that to the MAC where everyone just plays each other...including the Catholic school in the region...and guess what, they all do well in the playoffs. This used to occur in the MVC and SVC, but no longer.

If the text message I just received is true...
"Wisconsin coaches seen leaving Ursuline practice, they offered teague.. you heard it here first"
  • Hogger53
So Spread All Day, are you telling everyone here that at least 90% of the kids playing football for Ursuline have been going to school there since 1st grade? Because, I'm sure the majority of public schools can say that about the kids on their teams. Not hating USH...I've got nothing but respect for how they play on the field. But we all know it is unfair to compare most parochial schools to SMALL public schools. Of course USH will roll to another title in D5, I'm pretty sure they would take D4 ,D3 and D2 as well. I wish they would have played in D2 this year.

Just think if the MAC schools all got together to put 1 maybe 2 super small schools together via recruiting. Thats the team I would love to see Ursuline play....LOL still not sure they could win, but at least Ursuline would have a team worthy of playing in the state finals.

    I just read this elsewhere:
Teague was not offered today by Wisconsin and that just came from him seconds ago. He said he is on his way to getting offered but has not yet.

He's family works for Campbell City Schools but they send him to Mooney. That's the parents fault!

Not at all?? I know some kids come from public schools til 9thgrade.. sometimes even tenth. but they come to ursuline for the chance to be looked at by college scouts. oh and win. :) oh and a great education.
and yes ursuline can beat 2 mac schools combined yes.

Nobody will beat this recruiting juggernaut this year. Hopefully the diocese will continue contraction and Ursuline will be consumed by Mooney and they will be D1 from now on. :D

To be the best you have to beat the best. No need for crying about recruiting at all. You act as if they are the only school in ohio who gets players from all around their area. Do you see any kids on mooney or ursuline on their roster who lives even more then 20 minutes away from their school? Not a chance.

Bad news for whiners. If the 2 schools combined, and everyone went to the new school, they'd still be DII. That's if everyone went. If there was a small drop off from kids at Mooney, and a slightly bigger drop off from Ursuline kids, they might be DIII

What do you mean it's their fault? If in fact they do work for Campbell Schools, they would know better than anybody the advantages of sending their kid to Ursuline instead of a struggling school district

    Props to them I say
  • sooner1
Campbell schools performed well on the school report card. There not struggling. They should call Ursuline the Ursuline West with nearly a third of the team from the Westside!

well at D-II...or D-III per se....that levels the playing field a little bit. As some players would simply stay at their home school in lieu of losing their starting position with the "combined" team. Also, playing up 1-2 Divisions also is a more level playing field than a D-V team that beats D-1 and 2's only to walk thru the playoffs in D-V. Be Proud!
