Can Youngstown Ursuline be beat?

It's also too bad they let Parochials get away with what they do. -
VikingYes, by a MAC school. However, it looks like the Youngstown Irish will go undefeated this season.

Enough with the B.S. I am calling you out to join me to head up to Ursuline one day so I can show you their enrollment numbers right now. This crap that we lie about our enrollment is a BLATANT LIE and I will not let you fools that hide behind your computer screens spread this nonsense on the Internet. The offer is there buddy; if you want to hide behind your computer and spread lies like a ignorant fool, go right ahead, but I won't stand for it. -

Who said anything about the enrollment numbers? You can still go out and get good football players and keep your enrollment levels down. Thus, the benefits of being able to turn away whoever you want if you want/need to. -
oberhausMust make the Irish fans feel really good to beat schools from towns of around 5 thousand people.

Actually Chiefs, enrollment #'s DO play a role in this, unfortunately for mred, they work toward small parochials guilt. (I never said anything about lying about enrollment #'s.
mred, save you and I a trip to Y'town, and simply explain to me how the small parochials, namely Mooney, can compete with the Mentors, Moellers & Warrens, to name a few, year in and year out. There is NO WAY, a school with around 200 boys should be able to compete on a yearly basis with the schools that have 650-1,000 boys.
It's as simple as this, you give an explaination, if you convince me, I go away forever, if not, the verbal abuse has just begun. -

Has it ever occured to you that kids in the area that want to play on a good team want to go to mooney to win state championships? Its the way it is deal with it and quit crying cause ur team is nothing anymore. -
OhioIt takes 11 good players to be good. Youngstown produces talent and the kids that wanna go somewhere in ther college career attend mooney and ursuline with some exceptions. Deal with it....Haters gon hate.

I agree that they could win D2-5 but don't think they would stand a chance against St. Eds, Glenville or Colerain this year.
are you serious? This is a D-1 program. Whoever is coaching at Ursulin has definitly uped the anty against Mooney although both of those teams run the Mohoning valley.. Here is question that should pizz some people off . How many catholic boys are playing football for Ursulin? We public schools beat the crap out of each other over the littlest things and if one kid leaves a district to another . Mooney and Ursulin are All star teams of the Youngstown area. Now the state either needs to let the public schools recruit openly or we need to have two seperate playoff systems . -

Keep crying there is nothing going to change. Your saying because ursuline is a catholic school they should play St xavier? Seriously? They can compete but enrollment matters for a reason. -

When you say "ur team is nothing anymore', I assume you're talking about Massillon, well....Massillon isn't Chiefs team, but it is mine, so....first of all, how can one of the smallest DI teams in the state of Ohio be in 40% of the state semi finals over the last decade, and still be...."nothing anymore"?
Do your homework son.
Next, you said...."Has it ever occured to you that the kids in that area that want to play on a good team want to go to Mooney to win state championships? To that I say, yes....that has occured to us, hence THIS SUBJECT. DUH. -
OhioHence this subject that every single one of you are crying and saying they recruit. Back to back to back? :]

Not crying I accept that you guys have enough people in charge of things to keep it the way it is. You guys could make your own divisions on how you see fit . If you want 2 classes or 3 or whatever. Ursulin would be champs of the GCCL this year that is whats funny . When a school has 300 kids and theyre team lines up like a solid D-1 team and has talent like a solid D-1 team and then they go run roughshod over 5 farm teams in the playoffs it iritates me . it cheats those schools IMO only a handfull of public schools can defend against these outlaw programs . I dont like you . You dont like me . Cant we just not keep getting along . another words take a long walk off a short peer -
clickclickboomI'm not doubting that they all want to go there for a better future and i really don't think they recruit that much.. but i do think that of the several hundred kids that apply to go there for school you select only the fastest and most athletic to keep from being any higher than DV.

Wrong on the crying.
Right on the recruiting. -
soupcitysoldierim gona say this and leave everyone alone. the mahoning valley has had a team in the state championship game the last 7 years. guess who? ursuline and mooney. i know everyone thinks this is robbing high school football? but guess who its really robbing? the youngstown area!!! football overall has taken a major hit when you have two teams recruiting all your good players...and how can you argue with the kids these schools go to the championship every year? if the state doesnt finally wake up after they see what ursuline does this year i dont know if they ever will...public schools need to take a stand. they have the numbers and can force the issue.

This is a good post, actually, public schools HAVE started to take action, and I applaud them for it. At least in the big school divisions they have. -

I love it, you guys spread lies and then believe them to be facts. The best players on Ursuline and Mooney's team live within the Youngstown City Limits anyways. With that being said, the school voucher system has hurt East and Chaney A LOT MORE than Boardman, Austintown-Fitch, etc. Almost ALL of the kids that live in the suburbs on the rosters of Ursuline or Mooney went to local Catholic grade schools. That is a fact, want proof, go look at their rosters and where they went to grade school. -
skankmvred, I have an idea, why not try having the correct quote you are responding to in the box above your response? Novel Idea?

Outstanding post. I was rooting very hard for Fitch to have a great year this year to limit some guys from going to those two outlaw programssoupcitysoldier;535425 wrote:im gona say this and leave everyone alone. the mahoning valley has had a team in the state championship game the last 7 years. guess who? ursuline and mooney. i know everyone thinks this is robbing high school football? but guess who its really robbing? the youngstown area!!! football overall has taken a major hit when you have two teams recruiting all your good players...and how can you argue with the kids these schools go to the championship every year? if the state doesnt finally wake up after they see what ursuline does this year i dont know if they ever will...public schools need to take a stand. they have the numbers and can force the issue. -

Yawn.. One of the reasons, not THE reason, Fitch is good this year is because they are benefiting from this thing called open enrollment. Of course that is something you guys don't want to hear.
