Dalton's new Head Coach..Shawn Billker
-
1486wdi have a hard time believing they would turn down a head coach with 2 state titles unless there was a) some kind of baggage b)someone they could not give a teaching job to. They have said all along they want someone who can work in the district.
-
panthers14If I was guessing, I would say the person would be Pollock from Mogadore. He has been fishing around for a head coaching position and has been named in every search this offseason.
-
RedRider1I'm hearing that they're down to the final 3.

1486wdis pollock the current head coach at Mogadore? If so, why is he looking to leave?
Redrider - any idea who is in that final 4? -
LostDawgThey are:
Mike Doty, Dalton defensive coordinator
Tony Carr, Massillon Perry
J.R. Easterling, Canal Fulton Northwest
Shawn Billker, North Canton Hoover -

The Day Late Record article names the 4? -
bleed_orange_and_blackI'll take any of them, except Doty.
-
RedRider1Interesting that 3 of the 4 are Stark Co. coaches.

No he isn't the current head coach at Mogadore...Adorni is. Pollock's youngest son will graduate this year and he is looking to get back into coaching.1486wd wrote: is pollock the current head coach at Mogadore? If so, why is he looking to leave?

onedawgpainCarr from Perry is in the top spot.

BruteyeI heard that the candidate from N. Canton was at the basketball game tonight. Onedawgpain, is this just a hunch of yours or do you have legit info on Carr being at the top right now?
-
bleed_orange_and_blackI really think there is no front runner at this time. Carr was at game Friday night and Bilker was there last night. Apparently Jim Tressel called someone on the search committee to recommend Bilker for the job. They're supposed to make the announcement on Tuesday.
-
BruteyeIt wouldn't surprise me if it were Doug Phillips who received that call since he was on Tressel's staff a few years ago.
-
1486wdthose guys were likely thinking that showing their face shows your interest in the school and the position (and they are probably right). Glad they are announcing it soon.

Carr is sitting on top of the pool. Billker is second in in the race.Bruteye wrote: I heard that the candidate from N. Canton was at the basketball game tonight. Onedawgpain, is this just a hunch of yours or do you have legit info on Carr being at the top right now? -
1486wdis this your opinion onedawg or do you have inside information? Anyone know the bios on these guys other than the school they came from - ages, etc?

A reliable source was in Beatty's office when the call came in from JT.Bruteye wrote: It wouldn't surprise me if it were Doug Phillips who received that call since he was on Tressel's staff a few years ago. -
BruteyeI heard that the guy from N. Canton played for Tressel at Youngstown, which explains the call.

Ok, our defense never stunts huh? That is the biggest load of crap i have ever heard!! How in the hell do you think we can constantly have d-lineman that don't weigh over 170 lbs, i.e. Peter Mucci, Joe Delciappo, and last year Derek Miller? No offense to them but there is no way they would have been as close to as good as they were if they did not stunt almost EVERY play. They would have got pushed around like rag dolls. And have you seen the rush defense stats the past couple years? Dalton is on top of the league or close to it every year! Now i dont know what you have against Doty but he is a heckuva coach and to all you bashers, he was EASILY the best coach, and the most liked coach the past 5 years or so. The only kids that didn't like him were the ones he called out cause they were making stupid decisions in life and the field and he was looking out for them. Now any coach that is there for the players on and off the field is a coach i would love to play for. -

Seriously Dude?
I am obviously not a Dalton fan, but have hung out on these types of sites with the Dalton Gang for quite awhile. I love talking football with them because thay are knowledgable, realisitic, open-minded, repectful, and generally good guys. With your first post you are going to start with that bullshit? Get a life. Some people don't think your boy is the number one choice for the program, deal with it. Coaching isn't a popularity contest, it is more results driven. -

Do you even know what a stunt is? The above mentioned players were effective because of their ability and grit, not because of their defensive call. We have had some VERY good talent on that side of the ball.onedawgpain wrote: I'm sure there are better qualified coaches to coach our defense. Should a get written statements from past and current players that didn't go for his "coaching tactics"? Should I get the parents statements as well for you? Name calling, swearing, putting players down and so on just to be the "best", "liked coach", you can have him for your coach. I was coached by true MEN, not a basher. Mike Berg was a much better coach hands down! -

This has went from serious football discussion to a comedy routine. Next you're gonna tell us that Potopsky was mild-mannered and even-tempered.team wrote: Now i dont know what you have against Doty but he is a heckuva coach and to all you bashers, he was EASILY the best coach, and the most liked coach the past 5 years or so. BruteyeI am not going to agree with most of that statement made by Team, but he is right about one thing, they did stunt often. They ran twists with the lb and down linemen, had stunts between the ends and tackles, and angled a lot. In fact, I would say they angled too often. With an angle you are trying to predict which side of the center the play is going based on tendencies towards strength, motions, or formations and then have your down linemen make an aggressive move (with the backside linemen moving across their man plus the next gap and the frontside moving to the next gap) that way with the expectation that your backside lb will scrape and make the play if it goes away from your angle call. The problem is if the call is to the wrong side the lb can't always make the play and it puts the rest of the players out of position. To say they never stunted is more absurd than Team's original post so give him a little slack.
