Should the Cavs make a trade?
-
FootwedgeI agree. Hickson needs to stay. Sure he drives you nuts at times. But the upside potential is large. If LBJ returns, I would like both z and Shaq to return as well. I don't know if their contracts can be negotiated downward.
After resigning LBJ, Ferry's job will entail rebiulding quality bigs. We can't afford to let Hickson go.
As for winning it this year. The Cavs have the best chance of winning by stayng pat. -
devil1197So if the Cavs can get Jamison or another player by using Z (buyout) 1st rounder which is useless and cash/filler you wouldn't do it?
Sorry, that trigger will be pulled if its on the table imo. The Wizards will get desperate soon. Just like the Suns and Bucks when Ferry got two starters for salary relief and sub par bench talent. -
jpake1"He's someone who probably isn't that far away from becoming the next big frontcourt star". That's all I needed to read to know that I'm done with this thread.

hoops23You know jpake, the funny thing is, people said the same thing about Jermaine O'Neal while he was in Portland. Dude gets traded and BOOM 20/10 guy at Indy.
Don't judge a 21 year old big man in his 2nd year in the league. Especially when he's improved so much in ONE year.
You're better than that.
Also, Antawn has been run to the ground these last two weeks by Washington. He's logged heavy minutes AND he's not been so hot. You always have the injury issue with him as well.. -
hoops23All from ESPN:
The Pacers are struggling and looking to the future for hope. They were poised to potentially trade Jeff Foster, but with Foster likely now out for the season, their focus moves to Murphy. With a number of contending teams interested in him, the Pacers seem to be in the right place to make a deal.
While Murphy may be overpaid, there are few bigs in the league who can rebound and spread the floor the way he can, which gives him value to a number of teams. The Cleveland Cavaliers continue to be the team with the most interest. If the Cavs can't land Antawn Jamison, Murphy appears to be their second option. At a minimum, the Pacers likely will be able to get back expiring contracts and one asset (either a draft pick or J.J. Hickson) for Murphy.
--
For weeks we've assumed that Antawn Jamison is the Wizard most likely to be moved, but that's not true, according to GMs who have had conversations with the Wizards. They say the team is reluctant to move Jamison, a franchise cornerstone.
Butler, on the other hand, is very much available, and the Wizards shouldn't have much trouble finding interest: Butler has only one year remaining on his contract and he can still play, at age 29 (he turns 30 on March 13).
One issue that could slow negotiations is the fact that the Wizards don't want to just give Butler away; they want both cap relief and a young asset. But that might be a heavy price in this market.
--
Three weeks ago, Jamison appeared to be the player most likely to be traded. But the word from a number of GMs is that the Wizards are reluctant to trade him, particularly to the rival Cavs.
"They want a lot for him," one GM said. "A lot. Jamison is a good player, but he's old and makes a lot of money. No one is giving up a future superstar in return." -
KR1245JJ is starting to grow on me. I was singing a different song a month ago but I'm starting to think this kid can be an all-star.
I would trade Z and a pick for Murphy or Jamison, assuming that the big fella gets bought out and returns to the Cavs in a month. Adding an outside threat at the PF position would do wonders for this team. Brown would have so many different options. -

Ok that's Jermaine O'neal. When we discuss him, then bring that one up, okay? How about you take your own advice as well. You guys are surely judging the 2nd year 21 year old youngster. But since I don't see him at the POSSIBLE NEXT frontcourt superstar, I don't get the benefit of the doubt like you guys do? Makes sense.LTrain23 wrote: You know jpake, the funny thing is, people said the same thing about Jermaine O'Neal while he was in Portland. Dude gets traded and BOOM 20/10 guy at Indy.

big_hits24Why not get the one player that would help them win it this year? It looked like they were going to win it all by sweeping the first two rounds...then along came the Magic. Having Jamison or someone else that can help LeBron would be helpful. You all saw how the other Cavs guards and other top scorers played against the Magic...terribly. No one helped out Lebron against ORL, so I think you definately have to look at getting one more quality guy.

Who the fuck said he was the next front court superstar? I just said I'm not ready to label the guy at 21 years of age as nothing more than a role player. Especially seeing him improve so much in one year, despite missing the entire offseason to work on his game...jpake1 wrote:

I then offered an example.
If you didn't see my point, that's your fault, not mine.
Wow, common sense has went out the window, it seems. -
jpake1You know that one long article that you quoted? Well within there, the author says "He's someone who probably isn't that far away from becoming the next big frontcourt star". That's who the fuck said it. I didn't say I think the kid is bad or anything. I just simply quoted what he said and said I was done with this thread. You assumed that I was judging the kid. I'm not. He's a fine player, but I found it comical to think someone thinks he's not that far from probably being the next frontcourt superstar in the league. Maybe someday he'll be a superstar, but there is NOTHING out there to think he's the next bigman that's getting MAX deals. I got your JO example. It's pretty easy to understand a player can rise or fall below expectations and that a player will grow over time. I didn't need a specific example to understand that. If I'm 'judging' him, then yourself amongst others are so too. If some of you guys don't want to get rid of him for Jamison because you think he can grow into a very nice player, how is that so much different than me thinking he's probably not the next big man superstar? Don't get me wrong, I don't think any of us are judging people. But if you're going to feel like I'm judging him, then what do you consider your actions?

You are a dreamer. Keep dreamin. Leave the team alone. They are 41 and 11. They don't need to fuck this team up.devil1197 wrote: So if the Cavs can get Jamison or another player by using Z (buyout) 1st rounder which is useless and cash/filler you wouldn't do it?

jpake1You say that now, but I wonder what you'll say when they don't win the championship.

The Lakers didn't win the championship in '08.. Did they butcher their roster the following offseason?jpake1 wrote: You say that now, but I wonder what you'll say when they don't win the championship. -
HiddenGemsDo they NEED trade.......no.
Should they make one if its an obvious something for nothing scenario.............of course! -
jpake1The Lakers didn't butcher their roster and it worked. Boston butchered their roster and it worked. It's all apples and oranges because neither team is this Cleveland team. There are a lot of 20/20 fans on this site. I'm just curious if footwedge will be one. I'm not assuming he will be, I'm just curious how he'll feel at the end of the year and they don't win the championship.. maybe he'll feel like a trade would have helped, and maybe he won't.
