Should the Cavs make a trade?

  • Midstate01
I just finished reading an article that said amare's post has had a complete turn around since the eye injury. It said he concentrated on that with his time off. It said his mid range game is good. I've always liked him. I'm not gonna get my hopes up.... But as a Cleveland fan... It sure is easy to do. If we won a championship, I have no idea what I'd even do to celebrate!?

shaq's mins will not go up. he'd prob get more like 15-20mins since we saw how bad he worked with amare last year. those 2 should not be on the court much together but it would be nice to always have a solid offensive threat down low for all 48mins.

Amare played over 35 mins per night and shot 53% from the field. Shaq played 30 mins and shot over 60% from the field, so I don't quite understand how that equates to them working bad w/ each other. Combined for 37 points a night too.

Amar'e could happen but I imagine there are teams out there willing to give something more for him.

Amar'e would be a great fit next to Shaq and if it takes Z/JJ/Picks/Cash to do it then that's okay. Z will be bought out, JJ will be replaced by very good PF, our picks are going to be late, and Gilbert has money.

Amare had better play some fucking D if they bring him over here.

    Ya think?

Phoenix isn't known for their defense, anyone who comes to Cleveland is forced to play defense.

I'm talking defensively. However, those offensive numbers are very inflated since Amare missed a ton of time last year and Shaq also sat out quite a bit. If you just had the games they both played in together they wouldn't be near as high. Shaq will never get near 60% in cleveland since they make him run past half court to play defense.

Did you not watch Suns games last year? It wasn't pretty.

I'll tell you that Amar'e is on the block and there are more than just 3 teams looking at him.

If Amar'e is now on the list, both Jamison and Amar'e aren't known for their defensive abilities but Cleveland is hardly a one on one team defense. It's all about rotations which these two veterans will be able to catch on unlike JJ.

Question, I am not familiar with Powe's game. What does he bring?
  • SQ_Crazies
Toughness. Good offensive player, good rebounder, solid defender. A good all around player and the Celtics would love to still have him but he has the injury issues. Powe is good enough to put this team over the top if he can stay healthy.

Litrle bit more on the Amare situation from a chat earlier today:

    Mark (Cleveland)
Does this recent Amare for Z, Hickson, and picks rumor have a legitimate shot of happening and if so, would Shaq and Amare get along? Also, there is an article on Hoopsworld regarding Lebron James and possibly tipping his hand with regards to free agency (essentially saying that if Cavs land a big time PF, he would sign and extention before next year). Have you heard anything regarding this?

    Chris Sheridan
    (2:42 PM)
Cleveland has a legitimate shot of getting him, and he could fit as the starting 4 (instead of Hickson) and the backup 5

Sounds like there could be something to the rumors

According to this article, the Suns have been increasing their efforts to try and trade Amare, and the Cavs are one of several teams interested.

The Cavs have shown the interest in Amare. Tell me something I havn't known for over a year now.

I love this time of year in the NBA with all the rumors and possibilities. Amar'e or Jamison would be a great move for the Cavs IMO
  • jpake1
...However, a source told the News-Herald that Washington may not want to help out Cleveland via trade.

If Washington is dead set on blowing up that team, and by all indications it is looking like they are. they will surely listen to anyone willing to take one of their older and most expensive pieces off the board. There is a market for a guy like Jamison, but it isn't big at all.
  • wes_mantooth
I would much rather have Jamison than Amare.....much more complete player. Not to mention, I bet Amare would cost the Cavs more.
  • jpake1
They're set on blowing up this team, but they very well could wait to do it during the NBA draft. They won't just give these guys away for nothing. They'll wait as long as they can until they get something they like, and if they don't, highest bidder during the draft. At least that is my opinion.

I agree with that for the most part. However, I think it depends on what the Cavs are looking to do with the Amare & Jamison trade. Are they looking for just this year then they'd walk? Or are they lookin for multi-year type deal? If it's multi-year, I'd want a younger Amare (our centers are getting up there in years), if it's just to make that push for this year only...I'd want the older more rounded Jamison.
  • h2thaizzo
We are already the best 3 point shooting team in the league. Jamison is considered more rounded because he can shoot the 3? Nah, I'd rather have the guy 6 years younger than Jamison whose shooting 55% from the field any day.
  • Benny The Jet
Have they said or does anyone have any indication if these deals would be just for this year or multi-year deals? Just curious
  • h2thaizzo
They wouldn't make a huge trade for just one year. Jamison has I think 3 years after this season left on his deal. Amare is a free agent, but I couldn't see him leaving to sign elsewhere if we traded for him. We can pay him a ton of money, and I couldn't see a better scenario for him possibly winning championships.
  • Benny The Jet
Good deal...well I say snatch up Amare before the Lakers offer them Morrison straight up and they pull the trigger! haha
  • Lovejoy1984
Jamison is under a multi year contract, Amare is a FA this year, you'd hope he'd agree to resign if traded but who knows.
