Shaq vs. Dale Jr. : The race between O'Neal and Earnhardt Jr. will take place at 4:00pm/et on Wednesday, June 23, at Concord Speedway, a tricky, half-mile tri-oval that features some of the best weekly racing in North Carolina. The event is open to the public free of charge. Gates will open at 1:00pm/et. No cameras or phones will be allowed inside the facility. Terms of the race will be negotiated by O'Neal and Earnhardt Jr. on the day of the race. Shaq Vs. will premiere its second season on ABC Tuesday, Aug. 3.

Daytona race on July 3rd will be 3D for the First Time in NASCAR's history: NASCAR Media Group, a media, marketing and entertainment company, and Turner Sports, a division of Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., announced that NASCAR's first foray into 3D programming will take place on July 3, 2010 with a special presentation of the Coke Zero 400 powered by Coca-Cola. The 3D production, NASCAR's first ever, will be made available through TNT RaceBuddy on NASCAR.com as well as through DIRECTV, and will complement a special television presentation on TNT, highlighted by the network's groundbreaking signature Wide Open format. NASCAR.COM will feature 3D feeds for the Daytona race in addition to the mosaic of HD-quality complementary unique camera angles available on TNT RaceBuddy throughout the six NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races televised on TNT. Turner will also make the Sprint Cup Series race from Daytona International Speedway available in 3D through DIRECTV. In order to experience the event in 3D, viewers will need a 3D TV or PC display with matching 3D glasses. The 3D production will feature two custom racing feeds produced specifically for 3D. The first will provide a unique look at the racing action from strategically placed cameras around the track designed to maximize the effect of 3D. The second stream will bring the mayhem of pit row into the third dimension creating a one-of-a-kind visual experience. TNT's televised coverage of the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona continues with live race coverage in its groundbreaking signature Wide Open format. This format is a television presentation in which the network provides continuous race coverage free of national commercial breaks and features more unobstructed race action than that of a standard telecast by using a letterbox widescreen format. Along with title sponsor Coke Zero, featured sponsors-to-date are Burger King, Coors Light, Dimension Films' Piranha 3D, Goodyear, Sprint, Subway and Toyota

Hopefully after all that there is a Truex vs Gordon (Jeffy) cage match
  • Speedofsand
"Kurt Busch had everything coming to him that I gave him because he gave it to me on the restart before that, so I don't feel sorry about that," Gordon said.
    No friends for Gordon

gerb131, the cage match is this week in New Hampshire. Truex already said " I'll get him back at Loudon."
"I guess Jeff figured he couldn't catch us on the race track he was going to spin us out on the restart. That's the difference between me and him. That's why I'm here, that's why he's out there and that's why I'm pissed off."

New Hampshire losing a date ?
    http://www.motorracingnetwork.com/article.aspx?artnum=56248
Bruton Smith has made it very clear he intends to bring a date to newly-acquired Kentucky Speedway as well as a second race to Las Vegas Motor Speedway. We all know those events have to come from an existing property. Atlanta Motor Speedway is the likely choice for one harvest and now New Hampshire has moved into the crosshairs as the second.

Whether or not Smith is using this police and fire hassle as an opportunity to find a scapegoat and allow him to remove a Loudon date and have someone to blame all in one fell swoop only the SMI honcho knows for sure. But it sure appears that way and it wouldn't be the first time Smith has threatened a municipality with taking his ball and going home.

It does seem ludicrous that the difference of less than $100,000 would cause SMI to pull up stakes for a weekend out of Loudon but it would provide Smith with the perfect opportunity to strip that date and point the finger at someone other than himself of robbing New England race fans of a Cup event - one that has been supported fully since New Hampshire joined NASCAR's senior circuit in 1993.

But the simple facts are that 99,000 at New Hampshire pales to 140,000 in Las Vegas and those extra 40,000 tickets sold doesn't include the added concession, parking and other revenues SMI stand to net with such a move.

But he is fairly certain about one thing: July 2, 2010 will be the last time he drives a race car with the No. 3 on the door.
"I just want to go to the racetrack and run it once before I retire, and this will probably be it," he said. "After this, I'll probably never drive a car with a 3 on it again. I can pretty much say I'm 99 percent sure that will never happen again."
"There's a lot of different emotions it brings up in that car, when people say, 'Hey, the 3 is coming back,' and 'I'm driving the 3 and all those things, and there's a lot of emotion to that, and a lot of pros and cons, and people not happy and happy, so it's just something I want to do and that will be that," he said.

Only 14 points behind him in the points standings too! Should pass him up at Daytona and put himself back in the Top 5 in points.

jayski : Tires to 'Support our troops'? hearing Goodyear will have special tires for the NASCAR races at Daytona International Speedway this Saturday. Supposedly the Goodyear logo is smaller and the lettering reads "Support Our Troops!".

Dave Moody has learned that Robbie Reiser is likely to return as crewchief for Matt Kenseth's #17 Roush Fenway Racing Ford next season. Team owner Jack Roush pulled veteran Jimmy Fennig out of Roush Fenway's R&D Department to replace Todd Parrott as crew chief last week, the second change of the season for the #17 team. Fennig is Kenseth's fifth crewchief since 2007, and said last week that he expects to remain atop the pit box for the remainder of the 2010 campaign. Sources tell Sirius Speedway that there is "a very strong possibility" that RFR General Manager Robbie Reiser will return to the post in 2011. "Robbie wants to come back," said one source on condition of anonymity, "but he's doing such a good job as GM that Jack can't justify making a move right now. Next season, expect to see Reiser back on the pit box, with Robbie Loomis succeeding him as General Manager." Kenseth admitted that consideration is being given to bringing Reiser back as crewchief, saying, "He probably would have filled in for the rest of the year (and tried) to do both, but there just are not enough hours in a day."

Jimmy Fennig is why Kurt won the Cup.

Really? How'd he work out for Mark Martin, Jamie McMurray, and David Ragan? :D
  • Speedofsand
Mark couldn't beat the cheaters in the 3 car. Jamie and David are not worthy.
