I still think cousins finds his way to Cleveland this year. I could see them dumping TT for him

Hearing more rumblings about a wade buyout. The more I think about it, the less I want him.

He's not a good shooter, not a good defender. On an LBJ led team, those two traits are essential. I guess it would be nice to have some scoring off the bench, but we can't have both D Rose and D Wade out there together as a backcourt. Not enough ball movement or shooting.

    Starters:

    PG IT [I guess?]
    SG: JR Smith
    SF: LBJ
    PF: Love
    C: TT

    2nd Unit:

    PG: D Rose
    SG: Shumpert/Wade/Korver
    SF: Crowder/Korver/RJ/Osman
    PF: (?) Jeff Green/Frye?
    C: Azazazazic/Tazares

In the 2nd unit, I'd prefer Shumpert for defense, or Korver for spacing. Maybe he'd better than Rose, but I have doubts about that as well. Rose is certaintly more athletic, even at his current injured history.

I just don't see an upgrade, but I guess it's nice having experience, and another ball handler. Maybe he can take some minutes off of LBJ, but meh.

That alone is good enough for me, especially when you compare it to the shit coming off the bench. Plus Wade is Lebron's BFF so he can play good cop and translate Lebron's passive aggressive and moody bullshit to the other players on the roster.

You don't think Wade is a good shooter or defender?
Have you watched him play before?

That's true. Positions aside I'd rather have Wade over: Felder, RJ, Calderon.

Where it gets interesting is how this plays out with Melo.

He's a career .287 3 pt shooter. Yes, he is not a good shooter, not even debatable.

As for defense, correct again. He's a 35 yr old guy on bad knees. He's not stopping anybody on defense. He's a negative .65 DBPM over last 2 seasons. He ain't got it on that end anymore. He's old. It happens.

I mean... yeah, He's a terrible 3 pt shooter. He was a little better last year, but he's pretty bad career wise. But you realize 3pt percentage doesn't define you as a shooter, right?
  • kizer permanente
And he's been a positive dbpm the rest of his entire career. I guess I get your point... He's slowing down. But even Wade right now is a better defender on the Cavs than nearly anyone not named Lebron James.

True, but wade historically does a lot of his damage at the rim (much like Derrick Rose). When you look at this advanced shooting stats, they're still below avg for an NBA player.

    Also not true.

Smith, Shumpert, TT, Rose are all also better defenders. I also don't think the Cavs roster is a great example of even middle of the pack defense though. We're a bad defensive team, and Wade points the arrow in the wrong direction. We need to get better at defense, not worse or even.

    What's Smiths dbpm?

Without looking it up, I don't know. I assume you looked it up and found that he's worse than Wade the past 2 seasons? What is your point, you think Wade is still a top player in this league and a difference maker on the Cavs beating GSW?

No I was driving and I honestly didn't know. I was very surprised to see him higher though. That's why I asked.

And no I fully acknowledge Wades age and limitations now. I just disagree with the idea of not welcoming him to the cavs. He's still a hell of a player and has game left in him. Especially for what the cavs would ask of him. I'd be 100% supportive of him joining the team.

    Who said that?

He is a star that will get away with shit on defense. That means he is welcomed by me lol.
  • SportsAndLady
He's a guy who will provide 18-20 quality min against the GSW, which I'm perfectly okay with. I'll take him.

He's certainly better than IT against GSW.

You hate IT more than a lot do. I mean come on, "you guess" you'll have him in the starting lineup? Lol. He scored almost 29 ppg, and wasn't playing with a super star.

I'll reserve judgment on him until I see how he plays with lebron. I think he's going to be pretty good if he buys into lebron's style.

He legit CAN'T play against GSW. He goes down and the Celtics beat the cavs bc he's soooo bad on defense. Yeah he scores points, which is nice, but so did Kyrie (with better shooting, which is important on the Cavs spacing offense). We need much better defense across the board to even stand a chance against GSW. Delly is the perfect PG for this team in that regard.

Continuing to shit on IT here:

He passes less than Kyrie does and averaged 0.1 less assists.

He's got a broken hip which is a serious injury for any person.

Literally the only reason to hate on IT, while loving Kyrie is height. Kyrie is a better shot getter, but he didn't do anything else to help you win. Nothing. And IT isn't a slouch scoring.

What are those stats from? Career or his time in Boston? Cause in Boston, he kinda had to take all the shots and never pass. That team had zero offense outside of him.

Im far from an IT superfan, but I'm also realistic in the fact Kyrie is an offensive genius and nothing else. I wouldn't put Kyrie in the top 5 PGs last year.
