Well one side actually has some continuity (not saying much with the Browns), while the other typically has none.

At least he needs to give up calling trick plays. Good lord.

I know he's been pass happy but I don't see that this year. I think the offense will be very run centric in hopes of keeping them in games.

If these other QB's don't step up, I bet BO is going to be the game 1 starter, for several reasons.

    Preseason game #1 depth chart: Brock/ Kessler/ Kizer/ Hogan....

This order comes as no surprise but Kizer will leapfrog Kessler pretty quickly. If they want to keep morale high, Osweiler probably gives them the best chance to win a few games. He's the only QB on the roster who has won a game.

Kessler had a leg up coming in to the season, pretty damning he's not the leader in the clubhouse at this stage in the game.

I haven't heard anything positive about him coming out of this camp. In fact, one of the descriptions was "terrible." I keep hearing the old 'gamer' excuse about when he will perform well but I'd rather see what they have in Kizer versus putting Kessler out there.

Sounds like the choice to start BO might be to showcase him for a trade.

I was just going to say this.

I think the only reason we have BO as our #1, is because we're artificially putting information out there that he looks good so someone will trade for him.

That being said, we're going to suck again this year. We can just cut BO after this year and dump his contract. It's not that big of a deal if we go this season with BO and get another top 5 pick.

I'd prefer doing the same thing with Kizer.

it has to be--I mean, the guy hasn't worked out with the first unit all training camp...come on...

Well, there is another reason. He's looked the best of any of the QB's recently, has actually WON a game, and has some experience under his belt.

Hue may be keeping him in there for possible job security (get a few wins) and to keep morale high.

Starting a rookie (Kizer) over BO isn't necessarily sending a bad message to the veterans (since they hardly have any) but if they were to start out 0-8, a lot of these younger guys are likely going to be saying "oh shit, here we go again." If Osweiler could somehow guide them to a few wins, while they still suck, much easier to turn over the keys to Kizer.

As much as we, as fans, want to say 'screw it...roll with Kizer and see if they've got something and won't need to draft a QB", I doubt that's the coaching staffs belief in that they actually want to win a few games and not lose the team.

    https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/schefter-cleveland-received-trade-offer-for-brock-osweiler/

"The Cleveland Browns received a trade offer for quarterback Brock Osweiler according to ESPN's Adam Schefter via The Dan Patrick Show. The team "really wasn't interested in parting ways with him."
According to NFL insider Benjamin Allbright, the Dolphins wanted Cleveland eat more than half of Osweiler's $16 million guaranteed contract this season. In return, the Browns wanted multiple picks, which Miami felt was too high."

Velocity difference between Osweiler and Kessler is as dramatic as the drop-down from Stafford to Kaaya. It's so striking

Think the QB Comp is over, BO it is.

"Nate Orchard running with the 3s and cannot get wins vs. Zach Sterup. Zero bend or creativity inline, needs space to create"

    Yeah, he gone.

    Last one:

"Trevon Coley getting 1st team reps next to Danny Shelton"

Thought that was interesting. Considering we have two drafted players in that position.

    Joe Thomas on Myles Garrett....

The perennial All Pro joined Sirius XM NFL Radio after Tuesday’s practice session and heaped praise upon Garrett, “When you talk about physical ability, I don’t think there’s anybody that’s his equal in the NFL.”

Yikes this is hard to watch.

One step forward, two steps back...3 wins max this season

SMH..... TV flashing Kizer's won lost record as a high school qb.

Nice to see Cam Erving in mid-season form already.

Front 7 is going to be fun. Other than that? Yikes.

Meanwhile, Mitchell trubisky looked really good in his first preseason game. Small sample size, but he's looked great in practices and just went 10/10 tonight. Starting to think we passed on yet another future star QB.
  • cat_lover
Not sold on Trubisky. Happy with the Kiser pick especially in the round that they got him.
  • Crimson streak
Kizer looked pretty good last night. Made some really good throws. He held onto the ball a little long but some of that was due to the long yardages he was facing and that's expected out of a rookie qb. Overall he definitely looked better than Kessler and Brock

Impressed with Boddy-Calhoun, Coley & Dayes. Garrett showed flashes and Kizer needs to leapfrog Kessler and get some reps with the 1's shortly.

Kenny Britt needs to learn how to drag his damn foot. I know I poked fun a few years back at S&L's "the Browns need to use their 1st rounder for the next 10 years on a QB until they get the right one" comment and, I say this in jest, but I almost wouldn't give a shit if they used the first 5 draft picks in 2018 on WR's. That unit is god awful and I really don't know how they can evaluate a QB with such an inept group.

And finally....my old buddy Cam Erving. Why you were not put on waivers after the 1st quarter is baffling. You are NOT a good football player, let alone an offensive lineman, and I fear you're going to get someone hurt.

I know Kizer performed well against guys that will probably be working in the shipping department at UPS in about a week but the kid needed that to gain some confidence. Same with the team. A preseason win is a "big deal, it's preseason" but this team needs any confidence they can get to learn how to close & win.

What did you expect? A 1-15 team all of a sudden going 14-2? Also, 3 wins would be a step forward for this team.

Relax. Don't be a victim of NFL overreactions.

I can't believe how much of a piece of shit Cam Erving is. How the fuck did Farmer and Pettine get it so wrong? They might easily be the worst talent evaluators the Browns have ever had, and that really is saying a lot.
