The offseason begins... Tribe Hot Stove 2016-2017

  • Laley23
Apparently that didn't take into account the high wall. But since 2008, only 15 HRs elsewhere would've been kept in park in Cleveland. Some of those look like they would've been off the wall, so not necessarily 15 outs...

Can't find the tweet that said only 1 was last year.

Encarnacion will wear #10 and Gomes will switch to #7.

No lol. I believe you. I was asking if you wanted to do a friendly bet on EE's power or whatever

Got the notification yesterday that Tribe is still in contact with Bautista. What's everyone's thoughts? I think he's a giant tool, but he is still a dangerous hitter. The headache and possible locker room issue worth the production?
  • Sonofanump
Clubhouse cancer is losing money everyday. It might get to a price point that his assholeness will be worth a cheap contract.

Remember any additional RFA signing means a second rounder, so the price there is less.

Wonder if this means Brantley is not ready. If Brantley is ok, would Chiz/Guyer platoon move to LF and Naquin would be very part time?
  • HitsRus
Guyer signed thru 2018 with a club option for 2019. The two year deal signs him thru his arbitration years, and the team has an option on him on what would be his first free agency year.
  • Sonofanump
He's professional and good for the right side of a platoon.

Sad note....former Tribe 3B prospect Andy Marte passed away from a traffic accident in the Dominican Republic.

If only the other vehicle had been small and white with red stitching...he would have swerved and missed it by a mile.

More seriously....it is sad news. RIP Andy.

Tribe with a nice signing today... Austin Jackson... A minor league deal with an invitation to spring training. Jackson is coming off an injury and had surgery last June.

Interesting, wonder if he is healthy it will be a platoon with Naquin
  • Laley23
I fear Brantley may never play again. Signing more outfielders doesn't ease that though.

    That said...love the move lol.
  • Sonofanump
I think this has more to do with being an upgrade over Almonte than Brantley's health.

    Jackson isn't great versus lefties.

So pumped. I was 13 in 97 when I went with my dad and saw Sandy hit the homer, Johnson throwing behind Walker. It was awesome. I'll never forget.

That is weird, he is .278 v RHP, .257 v LHP. Ugh.

Well, let's keep it real...he was signed to a minor league deal, and if he makes the club, he'll get $1.4 million with another $4mill in incentives. Not exactly breaking the bank, this is the typical no downside/lightning in a bottle type deal that has been a hallmark of this front office. He'll give Tito another R-handed bat in the outfield if needed, and a little more insurance if Brantley can't go.

One of the reasons Detroit traded him. One of Dombrowski's fleeces right there, traded Jackson and Smyly for David Price lol

Now they claim Richie Schaffer he bats right but can't hit LHP?
