Browns at Bengals

Shameful fucking day that Joe Thomas won't be a Brown anymore.

Someone needs to punch Ray Farmer in the face if he starts crowing about getting another 1st round pick, because we are only making this trade because he is a screwup. Nothing at all to be proud about.
Deadline was at 4pm. No deals were made.

    Joe Thomas wasn't traded, IGGY.

I could see Cincy being a bit stubborn trying to really get Jeremy Hill going. If the Browns are smart, they should play that defense to start and make Dalton beat them. The Bengals aren't going as far as they want if they can't ever line up and run.

Nice to see you already trying to make up excuses for Johnny.

Listening to Farmer in that press conference I wanted to puke. He's one smug/arrogant POS. I get the impression that he believes the 1st rounder's that he drafted (JFF, Gilbert, Shelton & Irving) are good. The faster this turd is out of here, the better!

And I breathed a sigh of relief that the Thomas deal didn't get done. I would've had no issue with them dealing JT, for the right price, but it would be just like an exiting regime to give Cleveland the old "eff you" and dump one of their best players that the incoming regime would/could deem as valuable.

This is going to be a total blowup. The "cupboard" on this team is either really bare or this is the worst coaching staff (defensively) to coach in this city.

Pettine still refuses to move off the narrative that McCown "gives us the best chance to win" even when he is hurt. SMH.

I never had an opinion of him one way or another until recently. Mindblowing how he keeps marching (or wanting to, anyways) McCown out there and he's nearly dead. He has to figure his time is coming to and end sooner or later and is just in "whatever" mode.

I realize this is a different Bengals team (read as: Dalton?) we're use to seeing so far, but I'm still skeptical until they/he can win in prime time and the playoffs. Everything is going right with the Bengals and wrong with the Browns right now but this is one of those games that the Bengals of the past would love to go out and look miserable in.

I would actually like to know if they are. Pett isn't playing them, so how would we know?

^^^ I think that is a good point. i've come to the conclusion we should play all our top draft picks, let them get experience and see if they are any good. We are not going to rip off 8 straight wins and make the playoffs no matter who plays. As bad as we think Farmer may be, there is no reason to think that any of these guys wouldn't have been drafted somewhere in the first round and a half by another NFL team. they might not have been the "best" picks...but they certainly weren't unreasonable picks.

You would think that but Pettine still probably has the mindset that he's going to need to win a few more to salvage his job.

Just announced that Manziel will start. I assume Pettine will just mail this one in.

We'll probably call wr screens, and toss sweeps all game.

If Manziel's going to have any kind of chance, they are going to have to establish some sort of running game to give him a security blanket.

You're talking too logically. You'd never make it as a Browns coach.

Well, if they keep doing the same shit, nothing's going to change. They need to throw the ball but JFF's going to be much more effective if they can establish play action. It may be painful to watch (early) but they need to commit to the run and not give up on it after a few failed attempts. If they totally scrap it, Manziel is going to have a miserable night.

Our rushing attack sucks. We won't get shit going

I hope we run that play where Johnny runs around in circles, then heaves the ball as far as he can throw it, and a receiver makes the catch 35 yards later. Johnny has built his career on that play.

I personally hope he balls out and looks so good that they might have something going forward OR sucks SOOOOOO bad that there's no doubt they need to draft a QB with their top 3 pick.....nothing in between. Not a "he did ok."

I hope our def plays like last yr's TNF defense. STOPPING the run, pwning the bengals.

Plan for the exact opposite to happen.

That is a good way to say how I feel about it, too.

And at least him starting is something to look forward to watching, for me.

    Lol stop the run?

This isn't related to this game but I saw this one coming LONG ago (if it ends up being true). Too many ties to Haslam....

    Andre Smith is out
Carlos Dunlap is questionable, likely to play
Rey Maualuga is questionable, less likely to play

That's about the only significant injuries for Cincy that changed since last week.
