Browns at Bengals

Trade for Matt Stafford. The Lions will almost certainly move on from that after this year.

I think there are going to be a few "name" QB's available this offseason such as RGIII, Kaepernick & Stafford....none of which I'd want. I think either Griffin or CK end up a Jet.

This game looked like a repeat of the previous week... Good 1st half followed by a collapse of the defense and a disorganized offense in the second half. This is on the coaching.. ...And the inability of the staff to make adjustments. JFF showed me enough in the first half to make me want to see more. His performance yesterday mirrored McCown's performance against the Cardinals, which makes me think that the coaching staff is not doing the right things at halftime. Manziel wasn't the only one whose performance dropped after half.... The Crow was on his way to a good performance but disappeared in the 3rd qtr.
I am fully of the mindset of playing ALL our high draft picks at this point.

Funny part is, I went to bed at halftime (have to get up in the 3-4am hour) when it was 14-10 and I told my girlfriend "well, it's 14-10 Cincy....going to bed now but with Pettine's brilliant halftime 'adjustments', I expect to wake up to a 34-10 Cincy win." I wasn't far off.

This team is losing and maybe has one more win on it's schedule (San Fran?). It doesn't matter who the QB is, at this point. Time to evaluate and see in Manziel can grow with a few more starts under his belt. If he crashes & burns, next......but he really needs to make progress over these last 7 games to keep you (the Browns) from drafting a QB high.
As a Manziel realist, I agree with this for two reasons. #1) It will show the world that Manziel is the worst QB in the NFL and the Browns can finally move on from him. #2) The Browns will get a top 3 pick which hopefully will be used to draft a real QB.

They burned the #22 pick on him. It would be asinine to give him four starts in his career, go back to McCown, and say "we're moving on from Johnny." If nothing else, they need to do what you just said and prove he CAN'T play so they can justify going with the QB next year (if there's one worth it). If he does truly suck ass, they are sure drafting top 3.

Can we ship the Browns to LA. I prefer to have no team (which we basically have anyway) than this slop. Manziel is not an NFL QB run him out there a few more times and this will all be done.

    no. And Go Find Yourself.

This is strictly opinion as this guy is a known Manziel "leg humper" but a lot of what he's saying is true. Not buying the part about Pettine & O'Neill being fired in the coming days.....

Those two playoff appearances since 1989 have everybody on the edge of our seat.

Pettine would rather lose doing it his way than win doing it Johnny's way.

That halftime interview about calming him down told us everything we needed to know. Guy played his best half of his career probably and he was pissed he was free lancing instead of being a statue in the pocket like McCown. He is just totally disconnected from reality and this fan base.

Most coaches would have been fired up their young QB showed up ready to play on the road against an undefeated team on a short week, but Mike Pettine was worried about the fact Johny wasn't doing it his way in the heat of the moment.

He is exactly the bum I said he was when he was hired. Probably the most entitled, stubborn and arrogant coach I can remember in Cleveland, and given how thin his resume is it is breath taking.

I could care less weather Pettine stays or goes but are you really going to tell me that Manziel is the answer? There is no way you are serious.

Not saying he's the answer, but you have to play him, and you have to be flexible in your playcalling and play to his strengths.

Trying to have him be a strictly pocket passer is trying to pound a square peg in a round hole, and speaks to a level of stubbornness from our head coach that is unacceptable for a professional football team.

We don't win, so lets get rid of the team boohoo. Grow up

Agreed. Eventually, they will bring in someone who will get this right.

Mike Brown, and his groups' drafting, had the Bengals a laughingstock for years. Over recent history, they have drafted as well as any team in the league. Now I don't think they'll win a Lombardi with Marvin Lewis & Dalton but they are very respectable.

Nobody wants to hear it, but it's going to take a while longer.

He's just giving Ray and Jimmy the finger at this point. I said last night he would start McCown, because he is just an asshole and wants to stick it to everyone in the city on his way out.

He's trying to sabotage this team and needs to be relieved of his duties.

He doesn't realize though he is jeopardizing his ability to get anything more than a position coach or coordinator role in the future with these kind of juvenile antics, because other teams are seeing how immature he is. No one will want him in charge of being so much as a a dog catcher with his attitude.

Hue Jackson for next coach please.

He has worked wonders with that offense in Cincy, and having at least some head coaching experience he won't have that incompetence we see from all of our first time head coaches. He is also from the division, so he gets what it is going to take around here.

Jimmy should make a significant push to try and bring him in the fold ASAP once the season is over if there is any interview time before the Bengals get knocked out.

Didn't he go 8-8 in oakland back with the crypt keeper was still alive as well? That's incredible considering their rosters.

Yup, that was during that horrible stretch as well when they won nothing but 4 games for a decade it seemed. Couldn't be a better fit for Cleveland.

The Browns have defined the odds for years at how they can suck for this long. What on earth makes you think it will get better. It has been 26 years since they were good.

Also, nobody want Manziel to only stay in the pocket...but he has to be able to throw out of the pocket too.

A blind squirrel will eventually find a nut. Whether dumb luck or whatever, they will eventually hit on a personnel guy who isn't a complete fuckup and get it right. If Cincy did it, with Brown, anybody can do it.
  • Azubuike24
The Bengals always had the personnel guy with Marvin and his staff. It was just a matter of Mike Brown and his tactics not standing in the way.

Marvin and his staff are amazing at finding and evaluating talent.
He finally has ownership that believes in that and is willing to basically keep all of them together regardless of the cost.
It's amazing how many guys the Bengals have either drafted or found and kept long-term. The percentage of players they have who were either original Bengals or have been on the roster 5+ years is pretty staggering.
People give them shit for not ever signing free agents or what not, but it's just not their style.
