Week 3: Raiders @ Browns

  • IggyPride00
Oakland came into Cleveland with only 160 yards rushing in its first two games.

The Raiders ran all over the Browns for 155 yards on the ground Sunday.

    It's the same sad story.

Oakland entered the game with ZERO sacks.

    That's right -- absolutely zero.

But McCown was sacked five times. That's right...FIVE.

From Terry Pluto's post game article. Plenty more gems in there.

On an unrelated note, is there any bigger dissappointment than Duke Johnson? We were sold a massive bill of goods on this guy how he was going to be a Darren Sproles type alternative back.

He's been a freaking bum. I don't see any burst from him, he's not elusive, he isn't this big threat out of the backfield. He's a total non-factor.

I know they desperately wanted to bring in the one hitta quitta before the O-line coach had his own domestic violence issues, so it might be time to start scanning the available RB's because this group just isn't getting it done.

After the game today...Julio Jones said "Mike Shanahan is a genius". He's right.

What prompted that comment? He has no affiliation to Mike Shanahan as far as I know.

Dan Quinn was someone they were talking about as HC before settling on Pettine. He and Shanny could be here instead of 3-0 in Atlanta.

I am going to take a risk and assume that Wedgie meant that Jones said that about Kyle Shanahan, the Falcons OC.

Yeah, pretty obvious who I meant. Mulva's none too bright.

Oh, OK. I guess I just wasn't expecting footwedge to make a mistake regarding names, facts, or statistics.

Sound bites tomorrow at Pettine's presser.

    1. "we'll get that cleaned up"
    2. "the o line will be the first to tell you to a man they didn't play well".
    3. "Joe will be the first to tell you he didn't play well"
    4. "the d line will be the first to tell you to a man they didn't play well.
    5. " I can't control what is said outside the building".
    6. "we stress not roughing the kicker by 4 guys on one kick"
    7. "the quarterback room knows that Josh gives us the best chance to win"
*9 " I thought Josh played really well in almost overcoming a virtual impossible deficit".

You're an idiot for not understanding which Shanahan I was referencing.

    Counting to nine is hard.

I don't think McCown was that bad. Problem is Cleveland has no running game, no O Line and no go to receiver.

Just watch a Bengals game, Dalton is effective and kept upright, Bernard is pretty solid and Green can tear it up like he did today. Combine that with a good defense and you have a consistent playoff team

You watch him in the first half? Did you watch him throw that soul crushing game ending INT?

So much doom and gloom in here. browns upper management clearly cares about winning and their decision to stick with the veteran is proof of that.

QB play wasn't the deciding factor in whether or not they won this weekend; they just got beat by a better team.

I still have them winning 9 games. They'll soon reach the fruits of their labor

I don't really even have any comments on this game....it's almost apathy, except that I am here making a post about the game.
I was there...about half way thru the second quarter, Mrs. Hits and I just looked at each other and said "why are we here?"

$20 to park....waiting in line 15minutes to get thru security...$35 at the concession stand for a beer, a bag of peanuts, a bottle of water, and a chicken basket and fries before we get to our seats ....only to watch lackluster footballfor 3 quarters.
Granted it got somewhat exciting at the end.
There are no playmakers on this team= boring football.
    Ugh.

    I have 2 comments.

    1. Anyone who believes that the Browns lost that game because of Josh McCown is a moron (we already knew that about Failwedge and IQQY). The defense was terrible and so was the offensive line (we couldn't run and we couldn't pass block worth a crap).

    2. I believe we should start Johnny anyway now. See what we got. If he shines like last week for the season, then we are set. If he reverts back to what we saw last season, then we go HARD after the top QB in the draft. You are at the point that you have to see what you have in the young kid.

I think he had a lot to do with it, esp in the first 3 quarters and I don't count myself as a moron. Could JFF have done better? Not sure. McClown played terribly though. Can't sugar coat that bullshit.

Oline didn't play well, correct, but our OC kept running STRAIGHT at Mack despite results. It was infuriating.

He missed some throws, but he wasn't terrible. I mean he had an 83 something QBR for the day. 57%, 340 yards, 2 TDs 1 INT is not a bad day.

OLine, defense, and STs lost us the game, McCown just didn't play amazing to overcome all that.

He was abysmal. Yeah he started to crank out some yards in the 4th quarter, but overall he gets a fucking F from me.

This. Johnny F-up and Danny Shelton were complete wasted draft picks.

He was awful...plain and simple. How many missed deep balls did he have? Do you people even watch the games?

This is funny coming from you especially with how long you have hung on Manziel's balls all last season even with how bad he sucked.

He was not good, that I will agree with, but he was not "Johnny last year" or "Johnny in week 1" terrible. The defense, OL, and STs were all 3 worse than McCown.

I agree that it is time we start Manziel and see how he fairs week in and week out, but let's not act like McCown was really abysmal yesterday. I would LOVE to see a Browns QB average those stats for a whole season...
  • HitsRus
...Not abysmalj, but he did miss some key throws. Does JFF do better? I don't know, but you're not gonna find out with him holding a clipboard.
What was abysmal was the defense...for the past 3 games. The QB play has been good enough to win if the defense plays well.

Let's face it...we haven't been playing any offensive juggernauts here.
