Also, so much for Lebron not recruiting him.
No. I had doubts that he was coming back, even after reading that post.

    HOWEVER, breaking news on ESPN:

[h=1]Kevin Love agrees to five-year, $110 million contract to stay with Cavs[/h]http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/13181983/kevin-love-agrees-five-year-110-million-contract-cleveland-cavaliers

You should have more doubts now that ESPN reported it. They have been telling us all year he doesnt like cleveland, nobody on the team likes him, he doesn't fit in well with the scheme, frustrating with his role, and he was all but gone after the season.

full disclosure, i read wildcats post as "Portland Tribune", then didn't click the link. So i was late to the news that it was actually being reported. I just thought it was another shit head reporter asking him and he says "yeah, i'm going back." this is my bad.

@WojYahooNBA: Sources: Cavaliers restricted free agent Iman Shumpert will start taking meetings with teams. So far, unable to reach deal with Cleveland.

These are great deals for the cavs. Love and Kyrie's deals will seem small when the cap is 100 million in 2 years. Also I didn't expect to see Love sign for 5 years. Assumed it'd be one or two. Which tells me all the talk of him being unhappy is completely false. Think the cavs will match just about anything with shumpert. Think Jr ends up elsewhere which I am bummed about, but know it makes sense financially.

Love has an opt out after 4. Shump is asking $10 mil, I think he'll end up getting it.
  • Midstate01
Yea, but that's still 4 years from now. After he's likely won a title or two.

I was thinking maybe the cavs would wait and let someone make an offer to shump, then sign him. Let someone else set his market. Risky but could work out.

LA - theOBR ‏@TheRealLA__ 7m7 minutes ago Wade has to be under contract to be in a S/T with Cleveland for Haywood. Don't see Riley doing anything with CLE @scott2824

He derailed at least 3 trades last year due to Cole ultimately landing in CLE. ...too much pride and ego for him to do it @scott2824

Dream scenario. Aldridge to Suns, Spurs don't get better. Matthews to Raps, who deal Ross to Cavs. RipCity inks Monroe, Mavs land DeAndre...

Might be able to thank Mike Miller for Love signing the 5 year deal. I guess Miller said something to the effect of "will $20 million (signing 1 year deal) really change your life?" to which Love said "no" to which Miller responded "now will $100 million change your life?" to which Love agreed. Also sounds like Love was concerned with potential injuries and the security this deal brought. This was all from Jason Lloyd who is the Cavs beat writer for the ABJ.

Kind of why I wasn't a huge fan of that Haywood deal to SA where the Cavs got Diaw and more in return. If that deal frees up cap space for the Spurs to acquire Aldridge, the Cavs just helped themselves slit their own throats because the Spurs are the likely favorites to win it all with that lineup.

If that is true, then I guess Mike at least contributed something to the cavs.

Do the suns need to clear any space for Aldridge? Any pieces they could send the cavs for haywood?

10 millon is right about where I thought he'd come in. Will look better after the cap Jumps.

Gilbert spending like a fiend. Think it's part of the reason LBJ waited to see what they'd do. Miami's owner is worth almost twice as much as Gilbert and he wasn't willing to go way over the luxury tax. That may have been a small piece as to why Lebron returned.

I believe that is the main reason right after not winning a championships in his final year at Miami.

Solid. Seems expensive, but with the cap going up like it will this is actually a cheap deal.

    This, especially Kyrie's deal.

It was market value for him. Think I saw where this would be $13M in 2016 and $16M in 2017.

I think $7-8 was the right number but $10M in years of the salary cap expanding will be a steal.
