2015 Browns Offseason Thread

He is using cleveland as a pawn for more $$$, but that is okay. Shows they are at least trying and will make some other team pay a bit more.

Just a gut feeling but I think farmer is going to make a big splash signing here soon. Just feels like a different front office from what we are used to.

I could be wrong, but just a feeling. I'll quote this in April if I'm wrong and make fun of myself for getting my hopes up again as a Browns fan.

They very well could do this because Haslam has been saying they won't and Farmer has given the impression they won't. Revis would be nice but if they could pull the trigger on a Kaepernick trade, I'd be happy as shit.

Take your little opinions to a Steelers thread if it even exists. Thanks!

I guess I am not that high on Kap as some here. He really hasn't done shit since he had that big game against GB in week 1 after their SB run.

Thavoice can GFH, but I agree. Kap ain't going anywhere.

He destroys Green Bay. That is true lol

Shefter was on for quite awhile this morning and he said that all his sources are saying there is zero to that rumor. He said he can tell by just the tone of the voice, how certain execs answer him, on if there is any truth to many things and this one is a total no go.

But if sportsandlady wants to believe that getting him is legit, go right ahead.

He's far from elite but still a significant upgrade from what the Browns have had since 1999. In the Pettine "model" (run first/play solid defense) I think he could do very well. They wouldn't be slinging it all over the field in Pettine's system but it would be nice to have a QB, with a cannon, that could make the throws.

If there's one thing in the NFL that's true, it's that you can never have too many corners. I have faith that Gilbert can be a solid CB in this league, but signing Revis would give him additional time to develop. If we have Haden, Revis, and Gipson manning the skies, with one of the others (Skrine if he signs, K'Waun Williams) defending slot receivers, that allows us to put 7 men to focus on the run. I agree that run defense needs to be a factor, but having TWO top CB's would certainly not hurt our run D, and we can add a solid DL in the draft (after we take WR first, of course).

I agree with all of this.

I guess it would depend on his price tag. He definitely would be a significant upgrade, but that isn't a reason to give away a high pick.

He has won, too. That could only be beneficial experience to our team. In all honesty, considering the hand Farmer was dealt, I think he's done a pretty good job. He definitely needs to hit on his early picks this draft, but what he did in the later rounds last year and through free agency has been impressive to me. They aren't sexy signings, but they improve our team.

It's not? I'd give up the 19th pick easily for Kap. Anything to not watch McCown fling INTs all over the fucking place.

With our current QB situation we don't win 7 games again.

Kap and Gordon are also good friends. Kap rubs me off as an idiot, so I am not sure if he would be a good influence for our WR that won't play until 2016.

He also is signed through 2020 with 61 million guarenteed with 15-19 mil cap hit each year through the end date. If he becomes Manning, Brady, or even possibly a Luck elite (if he keeps progressing) then it isnt a bad deal, but
I am not totally sold yet on him either.

but then again, Kap is not going anywhere.

It seems to be the same argument of "let's draft weeden because he is an upgrade over McCoy."

Also is it not a red flag that the niners are already willing to part ways with Kap?

He's def dumb as rocks. "Just got naked and laid next to each other" LOL

I dgaf about Gordon, as I don't expect him ever play again. He may be an idiot but he's an idiot that can play the QB position at a top 12 level. NFL has already proven you can get away with multiple rapes if you play QB in the NFL.

No one other than BR thought Weeden was an upgrade. He was also older than the coaches and couldn't play QB. Only argument for Weeden was that he could throw the ball a mile.

Agree 100%. The 19th pick, as an example, is a pittance to pay for what could be the QB for the next 7-10 years.

You guys are starting to sound like George Costanza when he had an idea to get Bonds and Griffey in the same outfield and wouldnt have to give up much when you talk about getting Kap for the 19th pick! Keep on dreaming!

I don't think anyone here is saying they ARE going to get Kaepernick.

Sure aren't, just saying that while Kap may not be Luck, I'd sure as hell give a lot for his services.
