If Mesa holds a 2-1 run lead in the 9th.
If Bip Roberts doesn't get sick.
If Tony Fernandez makes a routine play.
This is a different conversation. -
BRFAh yes, the memories.

Everyone remembers that ONE polarizing moment but when you ask anyone about the rest of Byner's game, they don't remember the 67 yards rushing, 120 yards receiving & 2 TD's....only the fumble. Byner & Kosar kept them in that game. Mesa blowing that save is what everyone will remember. -

BRFOhhhh the pain.
Grissom.......maybe could have hit a fly ball in the 9th there.
Johnson back hands a low and outside throw to save a wild pitch, allowing Alomar to score.
Anyhow........I think Alomar would have been out even if he had slid.
Thank you all for dredging this up. -
Glory DaysMesa had Charles Johnson, a .250 hitter, 1-2 with 1 out!

Probably....but by the odds, Miggy Cabrera 'probably' makes an out whenever he comes to bat.Anyhow........I think Alomar would have been out even if he had slid
....Point is that it was a lazy, bad baserunning play by Alomar at the most critical time of the game and season. It's hard to throw Sandy under the bus...he's the reason they were even there in the first place. -
HitsRusBrandon Moss returned to the field today and showed he was healed enough from his hip surgery to at least jog around the bases. The Tribe's newest and biggest off-season acquisition blasted a towering home run in his first game back. Carlos Carrasco made his sprinbg debut, throwing three innings and allowing just 2 hits...one, a home run....but all in all an impressive first outing. The Tribe fell to the M's 4-3.

HitsRus...and the first bad news of spring training has landed.
First, Josh Tomlin is being held back due to soreness ( probably a lot of people going ,, meh.)
Gavin Floyd appears to have a stress fracture in the elbow he fractured last June. He's been put on the DL and the prognosis for any type of early return are nil. Surgery may be required. -
MulvaThe odds of him staying healthy were pretty much 0 after the past 2 years. That elbow has to be about equivalent to Brandon Roy's knees at this point.

HitsRusDave Dravecky comes to mind.

Glory DaysSince we are going into the past....cant forget 20 years ago.

HitsRusLonnie Chisenhall and Brandon Moss each had two hits yesterday, but the Tribe fell 3-2 to the Cubs. Danny Salazar gave up the all the runs the Cubs would get and need, starting the game and going 1 2/3 inn. giving up 3 runs.
The Tribe is now 3-5 in cactus League play.
Francisco Lindor is now 6-14 with 3 doubles and a triple. -

like_thatI'm telling you, Lindor will find his way in the lineup this year.

I give it till may/June and he will be our everyday shortstop. Way too talented to be in the minors again this year.like_that;1712268 wrote:I'm telling you, Lindor will find his way in the lineup this year.

TBone14I think I read that Moss has 2 homers and a triple so far this spring. And both homers were off of lefties. I like that
-

Gomes .267
Lindor .316

I actually could see them trying to squeeze 1 more year and possibly the begging of next out of him in the minors to keep the clock from starting on his service time as long as humanly possible.Crimson streak;1712273 wrote:I give it till may/June and he will be our everyday shortstop. As he continues to look more and more like the real deal the goal is to get as much of his prime under contract as you can knowing how things eventually end. -
FootwedgeIf Lindor has a great spring, the Indians might want to consider moving Ramirez to third. Less pop in the line up possibly but much more youth, speed, and especially defense. Lonnie had his moments but had a dismal second half last year.
With that line up, there would be 5 guys that can swipe bags. I know Tito is not a fan of that brand of ball, but the fans want to see Lindor play. The sooner the better. -

Winning games trumps worrying about contracts, If Lindor looks ready, he will play. This tribe team is pretty loaded and could win it all.IggyPride00;1712826 wrote:I actually could see them trying to squeeze 1 more year and possibly the begging of next out of him in the minors to keep the clock from starting on his service time as long as humanly possible.

HitsRusNick Swisher, recovering from surgery on both knees, is taking swings in the cage and ran the bases for the first time since the surgery on Tuesday. I have not heard or seen a prediction as to when he might see action on the field or in games.

FootwedgeSome great update articles in the PD today. Only Salazar has struggled as one of the potential starters. Even Z Mac has been awesome. so far. Hagadone has been lights out so far. In the pen, Shaw has been God aweful.
Our second string catcher, much like last year has been tearing it up. Working with Bourn to get his stolen bases numbers back up to 50 a season.
Lindor is making it difficult to send him down.
Kipnis with more back spasms and one has to wonder as to how healthy he will be. The question remains...Murphy or Ross in right field.
I still think this team is loaded and should win the division.
