HitsRusI'm anxious to see how Swisher does when healthy....and IF he can stay healthy.
-
HitsRusI don't know about the rest of you...but I don't really want to watch Oak @ KC.
-
BRFI will be watching none of it.

The problem with this $56 million deal is it now makes them gun shy to go spend money on a right handed stick.TBone14;1658994 wrote:I am fine with this. Just don't think the brass is going to have a 12M a year cheerleader. -

Which just further proves people hate the Dolans, they're more than willing to watch/pay attention to the team, but aren't about to go drop money at the stadium (I think we ended up second to last in average attendance and dead last in terms of total number of asses in seats this year)Con_Alma;1659110 wrote:On another note, television viewership for the Indians was up 12% this year and -
iclfan2I have heard that the Tribe is going to try and move Swisher any way they can. No one wants that contract lying around.
I'm as pessimistic as they come, but with a rejuvenated rotation and no injuries to our core players, I think things look decent for next year. We need a RF, DH, and possibly shortstop depending on Ramirez. And of course hope Kipnis can play like he used to. I think we are solid w Bourn, Brantley, Gomes, and sanatana at 1st. 3rd base is another tricky spot, bc Chiz is the opposite of consistency. -

Hope you are right on moving Swisher. It's a shame that baseball contracts for the most part are guaranteed. Tribe was handcuffed by the Hafner and Sizemore contracts for years. Now they've been replaced by Swisher and Bourn. I know Bourne should not be classified as a bust, but his production has been mediocre too.I agree that the right field problem is an issue. Way too many left handed banjo hitters on this team. don't know the splits but my guess is that Murphy, Kipnis, Chisenhall and Bourne collectively hit 30/40 points lower against ledties. Even Brantley I'm sure hit better against righties. The team was 7th in the AL in runs scored. Not bad but not great.iclfan2;1659240 wrote:I have heard that the Tribe is going to try and move Swisher any way they can. No one wants that contract lying around. They may hate the Dolans but I don't blame them for not taking risks on big dollar contracts and players that may handcuff the team as mentioned.ts1227;1659218 wrote:Which just further proves people hate the Dolans, they're more than willing to watch/pay attention to the team, but aren't about to go drop money at the stadium (I think we ended up second to last in average attendance and dead last in terms of total number of asses in seats this year) -

Lonnie hit 20 points higher vs Lefties. Its the whole reason he became an everyday player. All he did this offseason was work on it. The start of the year, he was platooned, then he got his shot and raked.Footwedge;1659246 wrote:Hope you are right on moving Swisher. Brantley hit 30 points lower...but he is still an AS vs them. .337 vs RHP and .307 vs LHP.
Kipnis is crazy to me. Barely hit .200 vs lefties this year...last year? .308. I really do feel his nagging injuries slowed him down a ton, but he was a disappointment and needs to rebound for sure. -
HitsRusI don't think you could move Swisher and his contract at this point. I think there might be a possibility to move Bourn... probably not for much but for some mid level prospects. I'm not saying we should ...only that we could. More likely ... in a multi player trade.

Agreed....unless they Indians were willing to pick up some of the contract and that's not going to happen.HitsRus;1659305 wrote:I don't think you could move Swisher and his contract at this point. ... -
BR1986FBKluber getting some love. Grantland has him as their AL Cy Young winner and second, behind Mike Trout, for the AL MVP......

HitsRus^^^I think if you really break it down, Kluber should win by a whisker.....not that the voters do that though.

The Grantland article did a good job of breaking it down like that, essentially saying that while Hernandez may have had a tiny stat advantage overall, the fact Kluber was that even with him while playing with a horrible defense should be the ultimate tiebreaker.HitsRus;1659699 wrote:^^^I think if you really break it down, Kluber should win by a whisker.....not that the voters do that though. -
Glory DaysSaw that there are rumors that Alomar is in the running for the Diamondback's job.
-
HitsRusThere is an article on the Tribe's web site about it...
http://m.indians.mlb.com/news/article/97201820/sandy-alomar-jr-targeted-in-diamondbacks-managerial-search
Alomar is one of several candidates... He has been up for a managerial position before, and would be no surprise if he was hired away. Other Tribe coaches may also interview elsewhere.... Pretty standard business in MLB.
Barring someone one leaving by upgrading their job, Francona intends to retain all of his coaches, and all intend to return. -

Laley23Tito extended through 2018. Great move.

I agree. I was talking to my brother about this the other day. Would you give up lindor and Frazier for Stanton? My answer is with out a doubt. Then try and sign victor to be our dh. That lineup would be pretty damn good. And it would definitely put fans in the seatsLaley23;1670699 wrote:Tito extended through 2018. Great move. -

All relies on whether Miami's gotten any more urge to deal him, though. The previous year, Pittsburgh allegedly put together a huge deal to try to get him and what I inferred is that, while it caused them to think about it, they weren't going to deal him. As time goes on and he gets closer to getting paid, that will obviously change, but I don't know how far in the future that will be.Crimson streak;1670711 wrote:I agree. If I'm the Marlins any package that includes lindor would definitely get them thinking. Especially being that shortstop is such a valuable position. It won't happen but would be interesting to think aboutHeretic;1670721 wrote:All relies on whether Miami's gotten any more urge to deal him, though. HitsRusTribe also picked up the option on Mike Aviles ....$3.5 million.
Doesn't look as if Sandy Alomar will be hired away this year....coaching staff stays intact.
Everybody is under contract except Giambi, who is not expected to return
